• Look at what you have been eating. It could be that you had more sodium or similar in the last few days. These thing affect weight as they make your body hold on to water and the like. Plus if you have jumped up 300 calories per day then your body is initially going to wonder what's happening if its been eating at 1500 for…
• I have always found pedometers really inaccurate. My jawbone up seems to be right on the nose though!

• Thank you for this link, it has answered so many questions that I have had over these things! I have googled so many times my questions and this is the first thing I have come across that actually helps! Good to know that my calorie burn on the Jawbone Up is probably a little lower than it should be!
• I just decided to play about with the scooby calculator (different activity levels) and have found it to be almost accurate an sedate! Never thought about doing that so thanks!
• Thank you! I wish someone had told me they are within 20% accuracy. Jawbone and fitbit certainly do not tell you this! I have looked all over trying to find an answer to this and you have now answered the question that so many other websites have not.
• I have just got a jawbone up which is a similar thing and I am 138.5lbs and have been for over 6 weeks! I had used the calculators to get my BMR TDEE-15% but not a thing have I lost! Since I have had the UP my BMR is 200 lower than the calculators gave me and my burn is much less too 18000 steps in a day only giving me an…
• Just had a thought! I am not sure that the UP measures calories when you are in sleep mode ( it does not give an actual burn during sleep mode at least) so I might try not switching to sleep mode tonight and see if this makes a difference. I have been in bed for nearly 9hours the last 2 nights so if I am not being read for…
• I have been cutting by 15% based on scooby data but never gained or lost. So,does it mean that the Jawbone info is right and I am not as high a resting burn and so probably eating at TDEE and not at the 15% cut I thought?
• Bump again!
• I am just waiting for my new jawbone up to come and have been wondering what People do in your situation too! Do you do a big jump in calories if that's what the tracker tells you you are burning? Or do a gradual increase?
• Those of using some sort of body media/fit bit/jawbone up etc, have you found your calories in needed to increase or decrease? re they accurate enough to rely on for weight loss?
• I am a binger too! The only way I don't binge is not to buy the food that I will binge on! I even have some cereals that I can't buy because I will eat the full box! I think the best way really is to avoid buying those things that will set off a binge. I am not saying don't have things you enjoy either!!
• I only have approx 7lbs to lose to get to goal of 135 lbs and my body fat sits around 28%. I really want to get this right because I am fed up of fad diets and starving for no gains! I had got to the point that I felt that I had to skip meals to stop gaining weight because I have messed about with my diet for so long! I…
• I lift and do insanity and walk :) that's what the time comes from.
Perfect example, 2 levels of cardio, and lifting that burns less calories. You might use the spreadsheet to confirm, because if decent amount is walking, it doesn't count as much.
Should I not be counting walking towards exercise?
• How rude! I think she was asking as per experience and not what the maths is!
• I would love a body media gadget! I can't believe there are so many different numbers coming up that work for different people!
• I think it's just a case of every person is different and people jump straight in at the minimum (me included) and find that over a sustained period it is not as successful as we thought! People add a few more in and suddenly things move again. I love MFP and have used the site for years, but, I think the magic numbers are…
• Thanks for that. Interesting results too. It gave me 300 more TDEE calories per day!
• I am totally getting this! There are so many of us in that are so similar and yet what works for one, does not work for another. This is why I am interested in finding out what others are doing. I am so afraid of calories, I need to see that eating a few more is not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes we can get obsessed…
• Rereading, that comes across a bit harsh! Apologies, that was not how it was meant to be!
• My TDEE is 1670 calories yet MFP drops me down to 1320 calories to lose 1/2 lb. I think yours seems much more realistic!
• Been there, done that. Been on MFP for 4 years. I am asking for real life experience and not computer generated as we are not all the same. I completely agree that MFP works, but everyone has different experiences with numbers and its not really a one size fits all. I wondering more about these experiences rather than what…
• Looks like its not available in the uk :-(
• I have not got the time/money/babysitters to join the gym, so are there any DVDs or anything online that I can follow that concentrate on squats etc?
• Well I am certainly committed because I have lost weight. I am a mother of two busy kids and a business to run so time is of the essence. I think that things can be done when you only have short amounts of time here and there and they are the things I was basically asking for tips on. If I have to spend every spare second…
• What I don't get is why I have hardly any fat around my ribs but yet it still comes off there, but where I have loads of fat, it's not shifting! Dumb body! Lol
