  • Thanks everyone. I tried and failed at weight loss so many times in the past. The difference in this time and all the other times was strength training and eating real foods. It keeps my interest and has me hooked on fitness. There is nothing that makes you feel more powerful and confident than lifting heavy weights. I…
  • Yes you need to make them fresh. They don't do very well stored in the freezer or refrigerator. I make mine and consume immediately.
  • I jump rope about three days a week in my boxing class for about 10 minutes. Yes jump roping is strenuous and it does take practice. I have been doing it for a couple of years now and I am pretty good but I still mess up. It will take you some time but practice makes perfect. When you start getting good at it, it becomes…
  • Suffer the pain of discipline now or suffer the pain of regret later. I didn't come up with that saying but it is so true.
  • I used to hate it to. Nothing seemed more boring than going to the gym and doing the elliptical or the treadmill for an hour. That is when I discovered a boxing class. I looked forward to going to this class everyday. Then I discovered Crossfit. Starting doing both classes and was so excited about working out. Crossfit led…
  • Is there a benefit to squatting your max. I know its usually one squat, but is there a purpose to trying to figure that out?
  • I love my Asics. I was wearing Nikes as well and they just did not work for me. I went to Sports Authority and the lady that worked there was very knowledgeable and said Asics are great for running and walking. I absolutely love them.
  • I have never tried my max. I am sure my max is much higher than 110. I would like to test it out one day.
  • I want to start doing front squats as well. They feel much more awkward then back squats though, and I am not near as strong. I am going to start practicing them.
  • More ladies should lift. I am usually the only girl in the weight room. I used to be the cardio queen and a good girlfriend of mine asked me to workout with her. She focuses on lifting and after working out with her I was hooked. Plus I started seeing the most changes in my body when I started lifting. My weight has not…
  • I feel a little strain in my lower back when I do squats as well. My trainer said my form is good so I am not sure why that is. I have never felt injured though, I just feel a little strain after I do a set, especially when I increase my weight.
  • I have never thought about competitive weigh lifting. I love it but not sure if I have the dedication for that or not. I still have about 40 pounds to lose from my 2 year hiatus from exercising and eating right.
  • cwolfman13 I have been in shape before too. Although I was never a heavy lifter. I was out of shape about two years and decided to make a change in January and haven't looked back and don't plan to. I love lifting weights and it just keeps me coming back for more. I am hooked.
  • Well I am sore at the very bottom of my neck almost upper back. Am I resting it too high?
  • Lahoechst what do you do to prevent the barbell from making your upper back sore. The site where I rest the barbell on is always really sore the next day. Same question for LoraF83

  • HelloDan now 265 is impressive. These ladies probably warm up with my measly 110 (:
  • I have a small barbell at home as well but its hard to use it for squats without a rack. I have about 150 pounds in plates but again I need a rack to place it on.
  • I usually increase my weight when I can do 12 reps without my muscles feeling like I can't do one more rep. When I did the increase last night I had to struggle for that last rep
  • Also the barbell kills my upper back where I rest it on. I am so sore this morning from the weight increase on the site I rest my barbell on. Does this get stronger or am I doing something wrong.
  • Oh and cookies and cream icecream. It is forbidden. Nobody can bring it in the house.
  • My weakness is shredded cheese. If we have tortilla chips in the house I will sprinkle shredded cheese all over them and melt it in the microwave and then put a load of salt and hot sauce. It is terrible. I have no self control over that when we have it in the house.
  • Ok I do cross fit 2 days a week, boxing 2 days a week, and weight training 2 days a week, this Saturday I couldn't make it to the gym so I tried Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones. I thought I was going to breeze through the workout because of how hard I work out. That workout was really tough. I am used to training…
  • I can eat an avocado plain or on just about anything. Just add a little salt and pepper and spoon it out. I also love to add them on top of my omelette. I love them and have always loved them. Good stuff
  • I love Jasons Deli as well. I absolutely love their Spinach Veggie Wrap. I don't eat at Subway too often either but when I do I have a roasted chicken on wheat with lots of veggies.
  • I have been going to the gym for years and I don't really pay attention to anyone in the gym and I don't think many other people do either. I go there to workout, I put on my headphones and zone out.
  • quellybelly they are a great alternative to regular chips. Look online for some good recipes.
