I refused to run for years after I got out of the Army. I was so tired of it. But once I started back up, I realized I missed it. That was back in 2010. :)

Nice. As a family, we all run a couple times a week. However, I can't keep up with any of my kids anymore. They all run sub 7 min miles. Even my boy who is only 8. Sometimes my boy will workout with me. My girls will do a cardio routine with me from time to time. They do love the dance cardio program I have, so I guess…

I wanted to give you an idea of what my days look like putting it all in a calendar. With all that I have going on, if I don't schedule it out, I am all over the place and nothing gets done. As you can see, Monday thru Saturday I have 1 hour each morning slotted for working out. I make that an appointment and do my very…

I hit it hard today. 25 minutes of weights, with a 1.6 mile jog afterwards. All with a 4lb weighted vest. How did you do today?

You would be surprised how often I hear people say they want to be healthier and live a better lifestyle, but don't have the time. Let me be the first to tell you, you have more than enough time. It all depends on how important it is to you and where your priorities lie. I used to be one to say this. The truth is, I knew I…

That's awesome. Congrats to you!

I remember those days. Mine are 8 and up now, so not so much an issue anymore. Still, I only get about 6 hours a night. I work from 3pm-11pm, with a 1 hour drive. Since my wife is out the door before the kids in the morning, I am on get the kids to school duty, so I am up at 7. If i'm lucky, I get to sleep in on the…

Since you were a child, you always heard, "you need your sleep." It helps your brain grow, recharges your body, etc. But as we get older, and more responsibilities creep in, the duration of sleep you need starts to become less and less. And while we may keep on trucking away, the truth of the matter is, we are not really…

I love reading your "Why's". Keep them coming.

This cold is annoying. It's not bad enough to knock me completely down, but enough to make me feel like blah. So, taking it easy again today.

@Vicky3725 One simple thing I did that helped me out a lot was schedule my workouts each day and treat them like a dr appointment. I sat down, wrote out what my day looked like, everything from watching tv, reading a book, to just wasting time on social media, and carved out 30-45 minutes that I could use to better myself.…

Here's some food for thought. Have you ever heard anyone tell you that it is your duty, responsibility, and obligation to be or stay healthy? No! Well then let me be the first. The reason I say this is because only you have the power to make the changes you need to. A book I have been reading lately called the 10X rule by…

I know what you mean. All my employees love to order out all the time or have a potluck once a month. I have been able to get a couple of them to at least start exercising more regularly, so that helps. But yeah, gott get my nutrition back in order.

How was your weekend? Was a busy one here for us. Well, actually, not as busy as usual. Birthday dinner for my wife on Friday at the Melting Pot, soccer game for my boy on Saturday, and the superbowl 5k on Sunday. My wife and son came in first for their age groups. My girls pulled 2nd I think. I was just glad I finished…

Totally awesome. Such a major accomplishment. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you all for sharing. Together we can lift each other up. For those that struggle to find time to work out, make it a point to schedule the time. Write down everything you do in the day, then find a 30 minute block that is either empty or filled with something that is not actually enhancing your life in a positive…

More often than not, I see the same statement come from a lot of people about their fitness journey. "I started up, but then I quit xx amount of days later." Or, " I made it 2-3 months, but couldn't keep up with it." So I started thinking, what is it that keeps people from continuing on? What was it that kept me going on?…

It's so easy to do right. By the time you go to work, take care of the kids, you are wiped out and don't want to focus on yourself. But you have to. It took me a long time to realize it was ok to be a little selfish and take care of myself. Afterall, if I can't take care of my self, how am I supposed to truly help take…

What is it specifically you look for when seeking support for you healthy lifestyle change? Are you looking for nutrition tips? Full workout programs that lay everything out for you, or just someone to chat with? I know when I started out, I would do whatever I felt would get me to where I wanted to be, try to eat better…

Here is my workout area. Nothing fancy. You can't see my bench or the treadmill from this angle, but they are there. Even my kids use it. As I get stronger, I buy more plates. The only thing I would really like to have is a decent squat rack. While currently I use dumb bells or my barbell with weights, eventually it is…

I'm the same way. I have never been much for the gym. Tried it numerous times. While I was in the Army and after. It just wasn't a good fit for me. I always found it taking more time to get there, lock up my stuff, pray I don't look like some of those people in the gym fail videos, and more. So I grabbed some weights, a…

Did you ever have one of those days when the alarm goes off and you feel like you only slept for an hour? That was me this morning. Combined with the fact that my son did not sleep well, this morning was rough. I seriously contemplated skipping my workout this morning. But I dug deep and got it done. Part off it was…

I saw an article the other day and it talked about how our great ancestors could kick our *kitten* right now, take our girl, or guy, run across the valley and barely break a sweat. Meanwhile a large majority of us might cramp up after 1/4 mile, and forget about slinging someone over our shoulder like a sack of potatoes.…

Good morning! I hope your week is off to a good start. I saw this this morning and thought wow, why didn't I think about this. If you have little ones, I'm sure you find it hard to exercise with them around. I remember accidentally catching my son in the face with one of my weights when he walked in behind me. I felt so…

Happy Friday! I got a good workout in this morning, made some cornbread muffins for our potluck at work (some might have green chili's in them) started a new book, and soon will be headed off to work. Today is going to be a great day!

Good morning. Here's a little tip for you. The best way to gauge your transformation is by ignoring the scale. Remember, as we build lean muscle, we actually gain weight. So the best way to determine how we're doing is by how our clothes fit, how we look, and how we feel. Not by how much we weigh.

Have any of you read the book called Start with Why by Simon Sinek? If not, I highly recommend it. It gives you some great perspective.
-
Thank you all for sharing. Now that you know your why, you can use that as motivations each and every day. Go to the gym, find an at home fitness workout, go for a wlk, whatever. Just keep moving. It will all pay off over the months to come.
-
Now that is a WHY!!! Thank you for sharing and good luck on your journey. Any support I can give just let me know!

Happy New Year! It's 2017. Are you off to a good start? Have you figured out your motivation, your inspiration, your WHY? Trust me when I say that when you discover your true reason why you want to be a little healthier, and little leaner, a little more fit, you will have all the motivation and inspiration you need to get…
