  • Yup - I stepped on the scale and found out I lost another two pounds. And what did I do today? Cheat! But I'm getting better about what kinds of food I'm cheating with now. Especially since I'm not at goal weight yet and I track everything now. Before it was ice cream, candy, or chips, but now I'll go over my calories with…
  • I just looked at your pics on your profile page - what a transformation. You look great! Anyway, as far as food is concerned, I really don't incorporate anything new the night before half marathon. I know people say to "carbo load" but I eat what i would normally eat: chicken with some vegetables. I actually go lighter on…
  • Wow - I just looked at all your pics. What a difference 100 pounds makes. You look AMAZING!!!!
  • My downfall (which causes me to gain hella weight) is: ice cream (I can eat a whole pint) chocolate! (Pretzel MnMs, Recess Peanut Butter cups) good chocolate chip cookies (Costco, Mrs. Fields) chips (sour cream and onion, Fritos Honey BBQ twists) Fast Foods (hamburger, fries)
  • I've done WW and have been successful on it but two things that really bugged me is: expensive monthly dues (which was more than my 24 Hour gym membership) and having to convert everything to points. Once I joined MFP, I cancelled my WW membership. I'm much happier because it's free and the MFP has practically every food…
  • I'm doing a half marathon on June 8, then three weeks later (June 27), I go to Vegas with my whole family. Right now, I weigh 136.5 and I need to be at least 125 lbs (by the race) to make a good time. And by the time I go to Vegas, I want to be 118 - 120 - bikini weight. I think this is realistic and totally doable.
  • June 8 - See Jane Half in Alameda, CA.
  • Great thread. OMG - what a coincidence. I just started a thread "Do you still track on days that you eat A LOT" because today I've gone way over (almost 600) my calories today. Thanks to the MFP folks who responded because it encouraged me to still track today. And normally when I "fall off the wagon" I don't. I was…
  • I was wondering the same thing of others. I weigh myself once a week.. I started at Weight Watchers weighing in on Wednesdays and I started MFP last Wednesday, so that's what kind of stuck.
  • Yes - totally! When I was with Weight Watchers, when I wasn't tracking points (or went over), I would pray JUST to break even. When I was "bad" that week, I weighed in the same weight or 1 or 2 over. It motivated me to be good again for the new week. Trust me - don't beat yourself up. I used to be "all or nothing" kind of…
  • Love the Hal Higdon program. I had used in all the 5 half marathons I have done. Really lets you gradually build your distance over three months. The only thing I do different from his training schedule is he suggests running 10 miles the week before the race. I up the distance and run 12 miles the week before every race I…
  • When I run, I usually use two bras (one light and one durable on top of each other) because I'm paranoid and I want it super tight. But, the best two bras I've used for running were: $58 Lulu lemon TaTa Tamer (Lululemon.com or Ebay) $60 Anita Extreme Control Sports Bra (available on Amazon)
  • If I'm coming straight from work, then yes it will be on my face. I don't wear foundation - so it's eye make only. And I agree with some of the other ladies, I like to wear cute workout clothes too. Even when I run races, I like things to match, look put together. I know, hella girly. But that's what I feel good in.
  • I have run 5 half marathons in the past 5 years and in the first year, I did two. I just don't think I would do it again, unless I decide to train for a full. I remember I was super excited to do one half right after the other. But I remember being burned out after the second race. Just because any training schedule is…
  • Definitely some of the smoothies at Jamba Juice. One of my favorites is peanut butter moo'd and I was shocked to find out a small size was 480 calories and 83 carbs!
  • Ever since I started running 5 years ago, I use New Balance.
  • That is awesome! Looking forward to seeing more progression pictures!
  • OMG - I have NEVER seen anyone eat anything while they're working out. Not even a power bar.
  • I have a step-son who is 16 and a little girl who is 3 years old.
  • I'm a 4th grade teacher and this past Christmas, I gave CASH to all the teachers at my daughter's preschool - which they LOVED. I always either give CASH or GIFT CARDS (Amazon, TARGET, etc.) because I want people to have the option to buy what THEY want. If I go the gift card route, I always make small talk (with the…
  • Crystal Light Peach Mango Ice Tea and Diet Snapple.
  • Yup - speeding, racing on the freeway when I had a fast car, my Camaro. Of course, this was back in the day. With my 3 year old, I drive like a grandma now. And yes - shoplifting (in middle school) with friends at the mall. We got caught at Sears. LOL
  • I use only New Balance for running. And Sauconys for cross training.
  • Before I bought the Garmin 405, I used a Polar with the chest strap for years. I can't remember which model but it was around $100-$125. You don't even remember that you have it and you don't notice it at all.
  • Yes, I agree - same for me. I don't drink milk alone, but if when I use it (for smoothies, cold cereal), I always use skim. But my husband (who is die hard milk drinker) draws the line at 2%. He won't even consider going any lower. LOL
  • Yes - I agree. Especially at the college level. I watch the UCA & UDA Cheerleading and Dance Championships on ESPN and those girls (and guys) incorporate dance AND gymnastics into their routines. They definitely train their butts off to compete.
  • I'm in the same boat you are. Last year when I went to Vegas in May, I weighed 118 lbs - partying in a bikini and everything. I was horrified to weigh myself last week and see 140lbs which means I gained 22 pounds in the last 8 months! Yes - I've been wearing a lot of black comfy clothes to cover the weight gain. I'm…
  • Born and raised in the Bay Area, CA. Most of my life in Foster City and now I live in Redwood City. Both cities are around 20-25 miles south of San Francisco.
  • Yup - born and raised in the Bay Area, so it will because the 49ers are playing. Also, I'm a BIG Patrick Willis fan.
  • We have an awesome 24 Hour Super Sport in the Bay Area, CA which also has and great Kid's Club. I was able to get a really great deal at $34.00 a month. Which is a steal! I can also go to any 24 Hourt Fitness except the few Ultra Sport facilities (the one above Super Sport) they have. I also want to join a MMA gym in our…
