  • Sleep apnea can make you tired in the daytime. Is there someone who can tell you if you snore or gasp? If not you could record your sounds on your phone and listen back. Then seeing a doctor would be a good idea.
  • Even worse are bathing suits that have become transparent in the back over time. Many times I, or someone else, has told a water aerobics student about their suit. You really can't see your own back! I've never seen anyone get mad, they are just grateful someone told them. I noticed one of my mine was getting thin when I…
  • I'm so happy for you! Thanks for updating your posts so we know your progress.
  • High school XC is August - November. Are you thinking about next year? Start with winter indoor track - much lower mileage, and in most schools the practices are actually outdoors (meets are indoor).
  • If you have never gone to BodyPump - PLEASE talk to the instructor before class. Start with low weights. Do not plan on going two days in a row - no matter what the gym schedule is. It's a great class, but you will be sore the day after.
  • I take Body Pump and help new people all the time. For best results, go early and tell the instructor you are new. Stay in the front row so they can advise you from nearby. Most people should start with a medium weight, and no increases at all in the first class. You can go a second day and go as heavy as you like - it is…
  • Over easy, dip the toast in the yolk S'more or a perfectly toasted marshmallow?
  • When you click "print food diary" at the bottom of the diary page, it makes a useful presentation. Instead of writing it down by hand on paper, you could have this copy and save yourself some time. Good luck!
  • I take pump - can you ask the instructor before or after class to help you with foot placement? Your feet may need to be spread with more width and length than you think. That helped me. Or using the bar vertically as a balance point as you improve.
  • Check on-line race rules. Many do not allow strollers due to their insurance. If it is allowed, please start near the back of the starting group, and be very careful in over-lapping loops, or sections with runners passing in both directions. Fast runners focus on their speed, not on being polite to you. Just get out of…
  • I tried to put a stability ball on a high rack - the only space left - and it bounced off the wall, sailed over a railing, and onto the main floor below the balcony I was on. Luckily it didn't hit anyone, but I thought one guy would kill himself laughing at me.
  • Body Pump is my favorite class to take! I often talk to people who are new in the class. I always suggest using VERY LIGHT weights - even lower than the instructor suggests, especially for people who are over 30. If you are not exhausted and sore after one class, go ahead and increase your weights the next time you take…
  • I go to group exercise classes - usually 25 women and one man. Water aerobics - 30 women and one man. Cardio area (treadmills and bikes) 20 women and one man. If it's the guys that worry you - stop worrying - in most gyms they are the minority. Using a female personal trainer a few times would be a great idea.
  • I re-set my ticker with my current weight so I can start from there. I lost 26 pounds in the last 26 weeks!
  • Shoes with removable spikes are very light-weight and designed for cross country or track. Athletes run most of their time in training shoes, then get an extra kick from dropping to the really light shoes. Without spikes the race shoes have zero traction. With the spikes in, running on concrete and sometimes asphalt will…
  • Recently I really upped my work-outs, my calories are set the same for every day, based on BMR and TDEE. For 10 days I lost NOTHING, then in the last week I have lost 5 pounds! Be patient - you are retaining water from your new routine!
  • If you can find a water aerobics class or aqua arthritis, you will find you are the average age, the average size, and wearing the average suit. I'm 15 years under average, 20 pounds over, and started with a really ugly suit - and fit right in!
  • Profile is 18 year old male. You need to talk to a medical professional, like a family doctor or nutritionist, because you are heading to a bad place. Your body is still growing, and you are shortchanging yourself by not eating. Please get help.
  • I DID look at your diary and you have some days over and some days under. I think you are worrying about it too much. What I do see is that you are not logging any exercise. If you have lost the weight you wanted to, it's a good time to add some strength training to make your new body look even better. And walking, biking,…
  • Look on-line for a group near you called MOMS Club (moms offering moms support) just for SAHM's. Read a great book called "Seven O'Clock Bedtime" for practical solutions to changing your children's sleep schedules - and your own life. Both worked for me when they were 2 and 3. Now they are 14 and 15. A whole different set…
  • Hi Sky members! My name is Mary Ann, I live in Maryland, but we are on vacation in Delaware right now. I've lost my weight over the last year and a half. The last challenge group I joined on MFP was a Biggest Loser. In six weeks I lost 10 pounds and 11 inches all over. I started MFP originally at 254. I started with water…
  • I personally have a Zone bar every day for breakfast. You CAN have cold food in your gym bag - get an insulated lunch bag, they are usually sold with a gel pack to freeze.
  • Read the links. I gained these 57 pounds over 16 years - it's taken 16 months to lose them. I do a lot of aerobic exercise, I lift a lot of weights. I eat 1800 - 1900 a day. I usually don't binge, because I can usually eat what I want. And even at the slow rate of loss, I have loose skin on my belly and upper arms. It took…
  • I've been doing MFP for 15 months, and gone from a 22 to a 14 (in most things, but sizes are funny...). I did the math, for me it's an average of 15 pounds per size down. My average loss is less than 1 pound per week. So I think your goal is reasonable. Clothes, of course, are not reasonable. I got a dress from a friend in…
  • I think your diary looks pretty good. I find that if I eat back 50-75% of my exercise calories, I can go over on the weekend and still net a 1 to 1.5 pound loss. You didn't gain it all at once, you can't lose it at once. Just stay with it, and plan to revise your eating/exercise for the rest of your life.
  • I'm 50 as well. Started at 254 pounds. I am currently defined as a "gym rat". Friend me. - Mary Ann
  • OP has deactivated their account.
  • 1. Size 24 pants to 14. 2. More energy to GO to those classes at the gym. 3. Sleeping better.
  • Just finishing a 90 day challenge at my gym, need a new challenge - count me in!
