  • The service is a bit clunky, I'll readily admit to that (and I pay for it!) ... but setting reoccurring foods helps, and isolating out foods you can't or won't eat (for me, sadly that's most fish - I can't afford it). I got a very reasonable grocery list this week, which keeps to my budget. Support is *pretty* quick to…
  • Have you looked at EatThisMuch.com ? It takes all the thought process out of meal prep, you just follow directions and there you go.
  • They say it takes a full year to completely recover from this surgery, inside and out. I'm 9 months out, starting to really finally feel like myself again, starting to consistently have the energy levels I did once upon a time. I hope for your sake your doing the laproscopic (sp), I personally didn't even need to spend a…
  • I've owned my FitBit since last year - one thing I can say about them is that their customer service is superb. I wore my FitBit on the inside of a sports bra and the sweat messed it up - they sent me a brand new one, no cost to me. When the clip that holds it on to clothing snapped, they shipped me a brand new clip, again…
  • I'll concur. You're going to fail. It's part of life. If we were all perfect, we'd all be well on our way to sainthood, there'd be no one starving or homeless etc etc etc... To be human is to err. If you're truly concerned that anxiety will limit the effectiveness of your ability to change your lifestyle (and that's what…
  • Played goal, but haven't in years. Sold most of my equipment. Only thing I still have is my pads, go figure.
  • 1) What are your stats/fitness goals? 5'5", CW 185, SW 277, GW 145. 2) How long have you had it? Picked it up during the April sale, been wearing it regularly since early May. 3) What do you like/dislike about it? How has it helped? That it shows me how truly sedentary I am on a daily basis unless I get up and do something…
  • Purchased mine when 24HourFitness had a sale back at the end of April. I can personally attest to the awesomeness of their customer service people - mine started to malfunction after an excessive sweat issue (they caution against direct skin contact with the device when you're working out), and after working through some…
  • I also concur with the both sentiment, and the sentiment that it depends on what your main activity is going to be. If it's a lot of walking/running, stair climbing and the like, go with the FitBit first. If you're planning on doing a lot of anything else, go with the HRM.
  • It's horribly bad fanfic. I stopped counting spelling and grammatical errors about halfway through the first book. Sadly, it's like a train wreck - you desperately want to look away to avoid the carnage, and yet you continue to stare.
  • I have little to no use for cursive, but I'm also left handed. It's hard enough finding a good pen that doesn't smear all over what you just wrote when you printed, but that gets compounded when you're talking cursive (lots of pen stops, places for ink droplets to form, etc). I'd much rather see schools work on…
  • I've got them as well - as many as you described. I try to put cocoa butter on them daily, though I don't know if that makes any difference. Something I read that made them a little bit easier for me to 'stomach' (don't pardon the pun, it was intentional!) ... To have overcome what you have in order to have those marks,…
  • I use Endomondo with my HRM (a bluetooth Polar Wearlink+), and then linked Endomondo and Fitbit. So my activities (and the food I enter on here) import in to the Fitbit site. Maybe something like that?
  • My Mom told me a story about my Uncle (who was a big beefy man in his prime - not sure why anyone would want to risk pissing him off!) routinely getting his sandwiches stolen. His solution, that apparently worked, was to put a condom filled with mayonnaise into a sandwich. That sandwich was stolen, but he apparently never…
  • If you're considering buying one, now is the time to jump on it - check out this thread on SlickDeals - http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/73066/24-hour-fitness-fitbit-ultra-wireless-activity-tracker-blue-or-plum
  • Thanks guys. Planning on calling the Dr.'s office on Monday (still have some paperwork I need to fill out for insurance, oh fun!) so I'll try and get more specifics at that point, as to whether it' straight liquid, clear liquid, and if there's any restrictions on fruit/veggies/etc.
  • I have a Tunebelt - www.tunebelt.com/ab83 - that holds my phone (a Motorola Atrix 2) perfectly, and I still can manipulate the screen while I'm running. I don't even feel it when I'm running.
  • I've only just started doing exercise to compliment my better eating habits - what I've lost so far has been from diet alone. With regards to what I track - I'm mostly calories, carbs/fat/protein, sodium, potassium. Though, I've found, by and large, they all balance out to where they should be, roughly.
  • I think the answer is: maybe. It depends on your friendship with the person. Are they your best friend, or someone you're otherwise very close to? That's the kind of person who will take your words to heart and take them as you mean them, and understand that they come out of care and concern and not malice. If it's not…
  • I've used this scale for the past year and a half - love it! Accurate with a few extra goodies. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001IV61J4/ref=oh_o05_s00_i00_details
  • MFP is good for the food side of things...less so for the exercise side. Most people I know who use this site to track their food also use additional sites/apps to get an accurate idea of their exercise.
  • Sounds like it's probably bloatware put on by your carrier. Typically, in that case, the only way you can remove it (or freeze it) involving rooting and/or installing different ROMs on your phone. And if none of what I just said makes any sense, you're probably just going to be stuck with that app on your phone.
  • You're not getting enough calories. You should be eating at least 1200 calories, and if you're exercising (running, in your case), you'll need to be eating your "exercise calories" as well. Not doing so can and will put your body in starvation mode, which will cause you to gain weight rather than lose.
  • My mother had rotator cuff surgery - likewise, she went through the whole physical therapy/cortisone shot ball of wax initially, then finally proceeded with the surgery. That was probably 5 or 6 years ago, and she has no issues with her shoulder whatsoever now. Her recovery time wasn't too long as I recall, but ymmv. I'd…
  • No real answers from me, but more food for thoughts. I'd always heard that sea salt was better for you than regular table salt. I bought one of those tubs (the ones you use for filling salt shakers) and compared it to the table salt tub I already have. Not a lick of difference according to the labels. I'd read elsewhere…
  • Most places are not "all you can eat", though those types of restaurants certainly do exist (Hometown Buffet comes immediately to mind as one). That being said, most restaurants meals are typically more than one person reasonably should eat (and even if you can get calories low, you're still contending with a heaping pile…
  • Yeah, the chocolate is really good. Didn't particularly like the corn variety - those are the only two my local supermarket carries.
  • I noticed you mentioned being really tired along with being depressed - have you spoken to your doctor about this? I ask because I was (as part of a bigger issue) diagnosed several months ago as severely anemic - among the many symptoms are being tired, depression, etc...I figured I was depressed because I was out of work…
