Started having the syncing issues between Fitbit and MFP on Tuesday 1/24 (using computer app, not a phone). Other family members using the phone app are not having sync issues. My MFP info is syncing to Fitbit, but my Fitbit steps aren't syncing to MFP, so Fitbit is working. Did the usual troubleshooting, unlinking both,…

As some of the above replies have stated, Fitbit shows estimated calories burned up until midnight. For the current day, on the MFP Exercise tab, click the "i" next to Fitbit Calorie Adjustment and it gives an explanation of the calorie estimate for the current day. Once you hit midnight and you've synced Fitbit to MFP,…

I had gall bladder surgery two months ago, and all I can say is it is great to be able to eat again without pain! I had mine removed after I ended up in the ER at 4 a.m. in absolute agony. I read a bunch of stuff before my surgery about people not being able to tolerate fats after surgery, but I haven't had any issues.…

Every now and then I like a coffee treat too. Starbucks (or any coffee house) will make your coffee with whatever milk you want, whole, lowfat, skim. Starbucks now offers coconut milk too. My choice is the skinny lattes...skinny mocha latte especially. If you look at Starbucks website, you can get the nutritional info on…

One of the reasons I don't go to a gym. While I appear to be one of the "able bodied" I have a neuromuscular disease that makes my muscles weak (Myasthenia Gravis). I would have to rest too much in between reps/sets at a gym and just hang out reading or something 'til my muscles cooperated. I do work out at home with…

You'd be surprised at how off a measuring cup is. My sister, like you, has a hard time maintaining her weight, and because of her job, she drops weight quickly. Before I talked her into buying a digital food scale, she too was counting out the peanuts one by one (talk about carpal tunnel!). When she finally got the scale,…

By accurate, are you using a scale to weigh everything? Just asking as I got my sister on MFP because she wanted to gain weight, or at least maintain (she's a mail carrier and tends to lose weight in the summer...FL heat!). She was using measuring cups and I convinced her to get a scale. She found out that a lot of things,…

My husband got me a Fitbit Charge for Christmas and I love it. My sister's had one for years and after checking out her steps, I really wanted something to track exactly how much I walked every day. I walk a heck of a lot more than I thought I did. Like most people who wear a Fitbit, I've found that it does motivate me to…

I've been logging here for the past two years, so here's my two cents worth. My husband and sister both use the phone app, so they both scan in bar codes of food. My mom and I both use the web version (from our laptops), so we actually key foods in. Over the years I found that a lot of the foods in the database have…

Some days I'm over, some days I'm under due to eating more or exercising more/less. I look at my calorie deficit by the week.
-
I've been getting my 30+ minutes of exercise in earlier because if I wait until the evening I find a ton of excuses not to! Then if I feel like doing extra walking later, it's a bonus!

Move over in that boat, 'cause I'm in there too! At my heaviest I was over 230 pounds (stopped getting on the scale after that!) and I'm only 5'4.5". Lost 60 plus pounds the past few years and was within 20-25 pounds of reaching my goal weight. Then last spring we moved across the country; between the move and the holidays…

From what I can tell by what I've read, it calculates calories based on your BMR (when you setup online, you key age, height, weight). At any rate, it has to be more accurate than me trying to figure out how fast I'm walking, keeping track of my distance, then manually figuring.
-
My husband got me the Fitbit Charge (for Christmas and I love it. I agree that seeing how much you move (or don't move!) during the day is a huge motivator to get moving. Now I'm trying to take a five minute break every hour or two just to get up and walk around. We're going to get the hubby the Fitbit Charge HR ('cause he…

Move over in that boat, 'cause I'm in there too! Lost over 60 pounds the past few years and was within 20 pounds of reaching my goal weight. Then last spring we moved across the country; between the move and the holidays I gained 17 pounds. At least I did continue logging the whole time! I'm back to exercising - walking…

My husband would scan and be done without looking, then I'd look at his diary to copy something to mine and I'd have to ask him WTH he ate, then he'd look and go that's not what I scanned!
-
True, very annoying as people don't check what they enter! Also, the barcodes sometimes are wrong. My husband sometimes scans in Kraft Cheese and it shows as something totally different. Once you've been on awhile and your food list builds up, you can choose from your own foods instead of the database. You can use sites…
-
When you add food to your diary, are you adding them yourself (i.e., manually or scanning the barcodes)? Or are you just choosing from the MFP database? I've been logging here for 2 years and find lots and lots of people enter foods into the database where they enter the calories and carbs, but not other macros, which…

I so understand what you're going through. Four+ years ago I hit my heaviest weight ever (230 pounds and I'm only 5' 4 1/2") and was so disgusted with myself. I dropped 10-20 pounds or so, then got lazy and stopped watching what I ate because I hated "dieting." Two years ago my husband found MFP and it's been a life…

I actually used the check-in/edit previous entries to add previous years weight changes so that I'd have a record of my weight loss before finding MFP, as I'd lost half of my total weight loss before joining. Helps keep me on track being able to see where I've been! Good luck!

So very true (above)! I definitely couldn't sleep w/o my husband's CPAP. His snoring would make a banshee jealous and the not breathing scares the crap out of me, which made it impossible for me to get a decent night sleep. But to answer the original question, I have noticed over the years (he's been using a CPAP for 14…

Rather than starving yourself, I'd guess you're stalling your metabolism if you're only eating around 1,200 calories a day with the amount of exercise you're getting. As as example, I'm 50 years old and 5'4 1/2" and I have my calories set at a minimum of 1,400 per day, PLUS I do eat back my exercise calories. I log my…

If you approach MFP as a lifestyle change for healthier eating (not just a weight loss aid), you don't have to sweat an off day every now and then. Some weeks I have cravings where I go over on calories multiple days, than I get back on track, with no change in weight. Don't skip eating dinner to keep from going over your…
