Thanks very much for all the info! Its helpful to see someone elses experience, as I also used to bank calories. Unfortunately even with this in mind, my trend line actually did go up, even when I would smooth it out. That was only the case when I didn't properly log calorie-surplus days. Obviously somehow Im creating a…

I have a few different menus I rotate through each week, all basically the same calories but with different types of foods, so I am fine in this regard. Thank you though! For the other long comment above, I'll read it soon when I'm home but thanks so much for such a detailed reply!

Thanks everyone for responding. Yes to clarify I was close to a BMI of 26, dropped to about 21, am currently 21.6, and asking about how much more sustainable it could be to inch up somewhere between 22.5 and 23. I already run about 3 miles per day and weight train for another 40 minutes 6 days a week, so adding exercise is…

This question is constantly asked here. Its all about numbers. Its really that simple. If you need to eat 1800 calories to maintain your weight, thats 12,600 per week. If you eat less than this to a reasonable degree you will lose weight. If you eat more you will gain. If you eat 1000 calories one day and 2000 the next its…

I like logging in my day to day life because I have the same schedule and basically the same meals on work days. Its harder on vacation and during holidays. I dont think i can log obsessively every day forever, but i do think the key factor is continuing to weigh in at least once every week or two. Some people hate the…

5'6 131 pounds, usually size 6 but sometimes an 8. Im bottom heavy though.

Well, we were supposed to go to a place with steak and veggies on the menu, and at the last minute they changed their mind and decided to order pizza, deep fried polenta, and jalapeno poppers for our food at a bar 😂 Literally worst case scenario haha, but i ate two slice of pizza and some polenta and woke up a pound…

She asked for low calorie options, not low sodium. Theres no reason to be so afraid of sodium unless you have a medical condition. I always stay right around or well under the recommended intake of sodium each day (unless i eat frozen spring rolls, which I usually do once a week) and this is my dinner every day. I dont…

You can look at my diary if youd like, i have a really basic chicken or pork/rice/corn or sauerkraut dinner every day for about 350 calories. I cook the chicken in a little bit of olive oil, garlic, and onion. 100 grams of chicken cooked. I serve it with 90 grams of brown rice cooked in chicken broth (weighed cooked…

Its so rough! I feel your pain. Its been almost 3 weeks now since i got back and nothing has improved. Its annoying that I lost 30 pounds in 3 months and now I cant lose 2 pounds in a month doing the exact same things I did before?!
-
Im just eating 1300 calories a day for a few weeks to help get back on track quicker. My TDEE is only about 1900 gross, not net. When i was eating 1500 per day I lost only a pound and a half in a month, and that was while weighing and logging everything, with no restaurant meals or guesses, so no major margin of error.

That may be the case for most people (that their weight fluctuates in a range of a few pounds) but i was just pointing out that my weight while losing looked exactly like that for 3 months straight, so the current trend post-vacation is far from the norm for me personally. Just trying to determine if theres something i…

Thats why i mentioned that those spikes in my weight only happen in maintence after i have a high calorie high carb meal like pasta with garlic bread. When i was losing weight before it looked like this: So when im eating the same things every day and the same macros it doesnt fluctuate at all like it has been now.

Maybe i wasnt clear in my post since a lot of replies seem to be assuming i didnt expect to gain weight while eating what i wanted. That isnt the case, i fully expected to gain some weight for the sake of enjoying myself. My question was about the aftermath. Im trying to understand why my weight is increasing every day…

Aw haha, thank you!

For what its worth, I got back from a month long vacation 5 days ago and my experience is not similar to everyone else. I was between 58.7 And 59.8 kg before I left. When I came back from my trip I was 60.7 the first day, less than I expected based on everyone's stories here. The next day I was down to 59.9 and was pleased…

In the three months I lost weight I didnt eat any bread at all. I would have, but it didnt really fit into my calories. Used to eat it a lot, but I didnt crave it at all.
-
Hopefully that'll be the case for me as well. I kind of struggle when I cant log because I mindlessly snack on things when I dont force myself to acknowledge the calories, or eat more than I should. Not to an extreme, but my weight has been very unforgiving with any missteps lol.
-
Thanks! My plan is also to eat a really healthy or at least low cal breakfast and snack on fruits and veggies and pretzels until my bigger meal of the day. I doubt I could possibly lose 4 kilos, but hopefully I wont do too much damage the other direction haha.
-
I dont disagree but on a four week holiday if I gained 2 kg a week I would come back 9 pounds heavier which isnt something I'm willing to accept after so much work. Im trying to figure out how to enjoy myself without significantly pushing back on my progress :( Did that 2 kg include water weight?

Right now I'm weighing every morning. I'm in maintenance but I'm struggling to not overanalyze the numbers so much, so I may need to change. For example if my highest weight for one week is 130.5 and the next week its 130.8 it will stress me out and make me question if I'm gaining fat. I get a little in the weeds with…

Are you weighing all of your food on a food scale? Have you started a new exercise routine? Did you happen to eat a lot of sodium yesterday? If you truly ate 1200 calories a day all week there is a 0% chance you've gained any fat whatsoever.
-
My weight slowly increases from about 59 kg to 59.8 kg and back down again every single week. A .5 kg increase over several days is not even close to an "insane fluctuation".
-
I just feel like that doesn't make much sense, and I feel hungry a lot of the time because I'm so active. I do 45 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training 6 days a week. As a 5'6" 130 pound person, 1650 seems exceptionally low, and that number adds 100 per day more than I actually log since occasionally I take…
-
I'm already doing that but I'm only on 1670 calories and I'm already not losing weight.
-
It's possible because of water weight from higher carbs, and an increase in the amount of food in your system. You have to eat 3500 calories over what you've burned in order to gain 1 pound of fat. If you've eaten somewhere over 5000 calories in one day, you may have gained a pound of fat. Otherwise, dont worry about it…

Again, a caloric deficit is all that matters. If you arent logging your cheat day and know exactly what you're eating, you are probably wiping out any previous deficit and therefore not losing weight. Start weighing and measuring everything on your cheat days to get a real idea of what you're eating each week.
