Is this about me? If so, I work out 6 days a week, 25 minutes running/20 minutes walking fast on an incline/ 30 minutes strength training (strength only on 5 of the 6 days. 2 days upper body using machines and some freeweights, 2 days lower body using a lot of standard machines, and one day just core). Basically I just…

Thank you! I go to the gym 6 days a week and spend 25 minutes running on the treadmill, 20 walking on an incline, and 30 minutes strength training (2 upper body, 2 lower body, 1 core, and 1 day with slightly extra cardio/no weights). I basically just use a lot of the lower/upper body machines and some free weights on upper…

158 pounds to 135 so far. Took about 11 weeks. I'm 5'6".

158 to 135 from January 1st til now :)

I'm nervous adding that much will make me stop losing since I lose 1.2 to 1.5 pounds per week. I've considered it but I'm just afraid to mess up a process that's been working. It's the fact that it suddenly started slowing down so significantly that makes me hesitate to start eating more. I dont mind losing the last pounds…

Why dont you do the math to estimate roughly your maintenance calories? For some very loose math, you've lost 20 pounds in 2 months that's roughly 2 pounds a week, maybe slightly more. This means you're at a 1000 calorie deficit per day (or more). You said you eat 1800 calories per day. Add 1000 and you get roughly 2800…

You've provided a lot of details about your workout routine but the bottom line is that unfortunately that information doesn't matter nearly as much as what you're eating. All you need to lose the weight is a caloric deficit. Use MFP to figure out a calorie goal for roughly a pound a week of weight loss. Start measuring…

People can be a little harsh on these boards, try not to let it bother you. I get where you're coming from when you say you log extra calories if you cant weigh what you're eating. If this only has to happen infrequently, I think it's a decent strategy when necessary. However, if you go out with coworkers a few times a…

I live off of spring rolls. Where I'm from theres only 250 calories in TEN of them. Genuinely satisfies me and fills me up. They aren't perfectly healthy but they're mostly vegetables.

Thanks for the input guys. This has helped me get a better general idea of maintenance, especially for people with general stats and differing activity levels. I think when the time comes I'll work my way up to 1600 a little quicker as it seems like a pretty safe estimate to not go over maintenance. Then I'll slowly try to…

OP, did you take a look at the thread I linked earlier? I think you might like the "gradual increase" method. :)
Sorry cant figure out how to quote this properly on mobile. But yes I did! And I do plan to do the gradual increase method. I'm just afraid that I'll be at a low calorie number and technically not lose…

You're my height and roughly my goal weight. I'm about 3kg above you now. In theory my maintenance calculates to about 2000 a day too (I spend 30 minutes on heavy strength training, 30 minutes running 5k, and then another 20 minutes walking on an incline each day 6 days a week. My job is sedentary.) It just seems so high!…

A gym employee told me that I had made the most progress the last couple months out of everyone in the gym 😊 It was well timed because 2 minutes earlier I had weighed in and felt really discouraged by the scale not budging that week.

I've thought about that but also have heard that they're generally unreliable? Im not sure what to expect for my maintenance calories because I eat the same thing every week and weigh every single thing down to the gram but I can lose anywhere from half a pound to 3 pounds per week. It's generally slowed over time, but…

Awesome, thank you!

Cool, thanks for the info! I've used plenty of calculators but I was just curious about peoples actual experiences with it 😊 My maintenance should be about 2000 with my exercise level but in the past I've found that over time, I end up needing to eat significantly less than that to not gain.

The only answer to this question is obviously Work B*tch by Britney Spears

I actually disagree. I was shocked that 6 mcnuggets only had 280 calories! I can easily fit them in if I'm craving it.

Chicken alfredo from olive garden with like 4 breadsticks and that chocolate mousse cake

Wow these numbers seem crazy low to me. I'm 5'6 and when I weighed 115 I looked emaciated and my ribs were showing in my back. A college friend literally messaged me to ask if I had a medical issue at that weight, and I was never overweight to start with so it wasn't even just a huge aesthetic difference. My goal is 130…
2lbs just isn't an appropriate rate for such low weight to lose. You just don't have the reserves to allow it. Even 1.5 is a little much. The body can only burn so much fat a day.
I get this feedback a lot on these boards but it worked very well for me the first time with no adverse effects whatsoever and…

I have about 20 or 25 pounds to lose. I know people say to lose half a pound a week at this point but I really dont want to spend an entire year getting to a goal weight when it isnt necessary. I do a lot of strength training to avoid losing muscle. I'm aiming for 1.5 pounds per week at the moment. I've averaged about 2…

I'm curious as to why so many people say they only have "a few more calories" in maintenance? Is this because they're working at a smaller deficit? I'm at 2 lbs lost per week roughly so about 1000 calories of a deficit per day. I assume the difference in maintenance should be at least 700 to 800 more than what I'm eating…

Yeah I thought about this too. I've been a runner for years though so I find running much more manageable than this hike Haha. I wasnt sure if the incline made a difference. With this formula I get around 600 calories. I suppose that could be right. It's just that running 3 miles gives me about 300 usually and that's a…

You're right but I didn't have the money to drop on it before this hike :)

Gatorade used to have chocolate energy bars that were soooooo good. Also the fries at burger king that you would shake in artificial powdered cheese.

How long does that water weight take to go away? If I'm not sore anymore is that a good indicator? Just curious.

Thanks everyone for the insight! All very helpful

Cool, thanks for your reply!

Maybe I'm just an idiot but I struggle to accurately figure out what 1/8th of a tub of yogurt looks like. Sounds like there is no answer though and I'll have to practice with a food scale to get a better idea of what all the food items I eat usually like like in grams. I still think it's annoying though Haha.
