A friend got the book for me as a gift... I read it, but agree that the condescending tone of the book and the "don't eat anything but beans and organic herbal tea" philosophy is a little much for me. I agree that veganism can be very healthy but don't think that it's the only healthy way to be. It's just not for me.

I add agave nectar to mine, and sometimes granola or fresh fruit. Also, Fage is a GREAT substitute for fat free sour cream. I find it tastes better and is much richer than most fat free sour cream I've tried.

I've never hear the no carbs after 3pm thing, but there are definitely good carbs and bad carbs. bad carbs are white bread, regular pasta, white rice, etc. Good carbs are whole grains (oats, whole wheat, barley, wild rice, etc.) and such.
