  • Beautiful. Hopefully not taller than me... Low Maintenance. Tattoos. Independent. Funny, Loves Music and Gym. Mature. It's hard to find WOMEN around my age. Looks seem to mature much faster than other arenas nowadays. Sadface.
  • One nighter of intellectual conversation about the rise and fall of grunge and 90's popular rock music.
  • =) I wasn't implying that mfp has zero women that lift. I just said, this might not be the BEST place. As you mentioned there ARE threads about female lifting and is a GREAT place for it. You are right, I am new, I'm sorry for sounding ignorant. Thanks for the insight tho, I'll think twice before I express my opinion to…
  • The bump and burn you feel while exercising is the flow of blood to the working muscle group. Your body is sending glycogen, (stored sugar) to your muscle to fuel the contraction and the tightness can also be a build up of lactic acid (what is left after the certain contractions/exercises) and will typically flush it out…
  • Absolutely, most of the women I've worked with are very cautious and don't trust me when I design a regimen with lifting in it, and are very apprehensive. What most people don't realize is first, if you are at a caloric deficit, muscle growth won't occur, second, lifting weights is key to having a tight and toned physique…
  • Just giving you a hard time. This might not be the best place to find others who train very heavy. I think it is less of a misconceived fear of bulking up, especially on MFP than it is most women would rather not exercise at a gym, and therefore don't train with anything more than light dumbbells, body weight or bands.…
  • I tend to stay away from weights. Not trying to get that "bulky" look.
  • I wouldn't really recomennd going that low in calories. You want to keep your total deficit at around 500 calories a day. I might shoot for 2200-2400 calories a day or so. Shredding too much weight too quick can shred alot of lean mass. You should lift to maintain muscle mass, so you can cut out cardio if you don't want to…
  • Jersey Shore, Bad Girls Club, The Challenge, any trashy, intelligence decreasing reality shows. I'd put them in the humor category though, all of them hilarious to me. and Teen Mom 2? Don't tell anyone......I can't stop watching it, what does this mean? Anyone?
  • You can defiantly lose weight without exercise, you just have to make sure your daily caloric intake is adjusted to have a deficit without work outs. Be careful not to lose weight TOO fast with out exercise, or with a fad diet, you may end up shredding lean mass as much as fat. Good luck to you! You can do it!
  • Lift first. Intensive cardio prior to lifting will deplete muscle glycogen, needed to fuel taxing anaerobic activity. It would be more beneficial to lift heavy first, in order to have maximum energy and retain muscle.
  • Just be careful, when you go without carbs for awhile, sweet tastes can trigger un reasonable cravings. I went on ZERO carbs a year ago when I lost 60 pounds but when I tasted Waffle Crisp for the first time in years, I starting eating boxes at a time. Try fats and proteins in the morning as others suggested. Whole eggs or…
  • No foods are actually "bad" for you unless they contain trans fats or ingredients completely proven to cause disease. You will lose weight as long as you -Hit your target Calories for the day -Get Proper Vitamins and Minerals, Fiber -Adequate Fiber and water intake -Proper Rest Do you track your proteins, carbs and fats…
  • As weird as this sounds, make sure you're waking up at the right time. An average cycle of sleep is 90 minutes. The deepest sleep, REM sleep occurs at the tail end of this. If you wake up to an alarm during this part of sleep, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get up, trust me, I'm not a morning person, but some recent research has…
  • 2g L-Tyrosine Pre-Workout for me. All you can think about, is what you are doing.
  • It all depends on how you carry weight. When I'm at %15 body fat, when most dudes have v cuts and some abdominal lines, I still have a power gut and slight chest fat, but my back and arms look WAYYY leaner, like I'm actually around a 10%bf. Its a body type, if I defined my self by abs or not, it takes a very long time to…
  • Right on. I can handle that. Not to sound like a brown-noser, or wierd, but I don't think you look old enough to be my mother. :) If you were my mother though, don't tell me you wouldn't be so proud to have such a respectful, kind son.
  • That was the same for me...I have very bad anxiety, and always doubted myself about if what I was doing was working or not. I was afraid of stalling, not making progress, etc and would never just stick to a sound routine. When I finally just went for it, it worked for me, after I took the pressure off of my self. I always…
  • Upping calories may work and something else that works is upping your fats. Most people cut calories on a linear progression, which makes sense, less mass requires less maintenance calories. Most people cut out fats first because they are most calorie dense but this can be VERRY counter productive. Fats help the body…
  • Sounds alot like tendonitis as mentioned above. RICE, rest, ice, compression, elevation, ha. Ease off any exercises involving alot tricep work, etc. It could possibly occur from improper form on exercises or,---I mean, skull crushers, etc, even when performed with good form can destroy elbows (mine included...) or over…
  • Works great so far for me, keep my carbs on the lower end, but have sweet tarts, gobstoppers etc...usually most post workout and get my fats in from ground beef/ fatty steak. Shredded about 5 lbs with strength staying the same past month
  • I had been lifting for awhile but had always been pretty overweight. I lost 60 pounds but kept most of my muscle mass, which was cool for me, but when I came back to school after the summer I lost all that weight, that's all people knew me as, the kid who shredded, meat head, etc. I felt like it was who I had to become,…

  • It can work if you're happy or not, but usually if you're not, you lose the weight, and you are just a skinnier, angrier person, ha! I had put un realistic expectations on myself, thinking that others had put them on me, and ended up binge eating, binge exercising, eating way too few calories etc....thinking that it would…
  • another 19er checking in...
  • Got in before me :) Sorry for repeating. Good luck to all in reaching/maintaining their goals.
