For me clean eating isn't a diet plan you can just start - rather just a way of eating better Rather than revolving around the idea of ingesting more or less of specific things (for instance, fewer calories or more protein or less carbs), the idea is more about being mindful of the food's pathway between its origin and…

I want to thank all of you who gave me great recommendations.....I appreciate it. I have already put a lot of into place - got one book I think is really cool and used one of the meal planning sites someone recommended - woo hoo. On our way to store tonight to get all these yummy and healthy foods. It means a lot for…

tracyannk28 - I think $50 to $60 for groceries a week is a good amount. It's just the two of us living here. We aren't rich and can't afford much more than that. We both have great jobs we love and feel like that should be more than enough to afford meals for a week. My parents spent $100 per week for a family of five for…

sjaplo - just another example of posts that aren't necessary. If it doesn't have to do with a book suggestion then I don't need it on this post. Thanks though. And google sucks - it has way too many options. You look up diet books and find 10,000 options. What I want is a good one that people here have experience with and…

Well anything I do is going to be a calorie deficit. I am going from eating fast food (combo meals + an added hamburger) for three meals a day and nothing but cookies and chips for snacks. So I can do anything at all and be at a calorie deficit from what I was eating. I will be able trying to stay under 2000 calories a…

Yeah - I know that. I am leaning towards CLEAN EATING because it's already a low carb type of plan. I heard Paleo is more restrictive. Thanks for feedback.

I am thinking of just doing a clean eating plan - that in itself is a low carb diet I believe.

Oh and as far as grown ups not knowing how to work out. Well when I walk into a gym I look around and have no idea how to use a single machine, weight, etc for the most part. It normally leads to me walking on treadmill for 10 minutes and going home because I don't have a workout to follow or know to use the items…

I didn't post the comments that we're realistic like "it's not possible to tone up in 8 days but try this ________. Or toning up doesn't exist because _____________. I posted the ones that had no place on the board and the poster should have just kept their opinions to themselves. And in case you didn't know there are…

I think maybe I will take your suggestion on Atkins. Read a review of their book and it says it has meal plans, grocery lists, etc -- no workouts but maybe I can something separate from Mens Health or similar place. Thanks for your positive feedback on my question.

This is awesome info - I can't wait to go check this out tonight. Thank you, thank you, thank you is all I have to say. Refreshing to get some direct answers that I can use. Awesome - excited!

I think from the feedback here it's clear a lot of people dislike the negativity from the board. That is too bad. It's also easy to see how quickly others jump on and turn things nasty and negative which basically just proves the whole point of the thread.

BENNETINFINITY: your completely right in saying "I think people who want specific advice about their personal course of action are better served finding like minded people in the groups". That is what we are doing when we post here - trying to find like minded people to help us. mommyrunning - I love your comment. Not…

Some people need a pep talk. Most people don't need tough love answers so keep them to yourself. Ever heard of the saying "if you can say something nice don't say it all"? Try it out!

LEVITATEME's post above is a good example of what I mean. Not the positive feedback most people need. It's great it takes you 45 seconds to make a shake - I don't have that time so I am looking for something I can grab from fridge and walk out door. But I didn't ask that anyway so don't comment unless you know of a good…

Here are a few example of what I mean from my posts: *I asked for a book with grocery lists and meal planner. Reply: There's nothing you can't eat, you just need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight. *Asked about a quick workout routine to tone up fast. Reply: Buy a time machine. Should have started months ago. *Asked…

I have already tried this of course - when your still eating this much horribly bad food you don't lose weight. The difference between eating 12000 calories a day and eating 6000 calories a day is great and all but I am still eating thousands and thousands over what I should be. What happens is just maintaining current…

By the way I do have a gym membership so I don't have to do home workouts (but was thinking maybe a quick 15 minutes in AM at home - then gym later).

I hate when people just say - eat what you want - just eat less. I am eating whole pizzas for dinner, two foot long subs for lunch, a breakfast burrito and quesadilla for breakfast, and a bag of chips as a snack. Of course I should just eat less. I know that already. I don't thinking eating a 1/2 pizza, 1 sub, 1/2 bag of…

Right now I am not ready to try to develop my own meals, nutrition, workout plans, etc. Maybe down the road as I begin to see what I am eating and doing through the book (they normally only last 4 weeks of plans) then I will be - just not yet. As far as the personal trainer - I wish. They are very expensive and we can…

Thanks. Now let's hope the tiny bit of training I have done will help me climb ruins, tread water in the ocean, walk through jungles, etc. One thing I can't do it zip line - too heavy - boo.

Thanks for all the great feedback. Gonna try to just not are and be comfy in my own skin.

Was looking for links to 20 minute workouts with bodyweight - was able to find some through another post on the board. Thanks.

Glad to hear it - thanks. I wasn't asking for you to pep my spirit up and tell me to keep working at it. I know I am a failure when it comes to this already. Don't need anyone telling me to stop making excuses. I tell myself not to make excuses every morning when I wake up, I tell myself it everyday when I am supposed to…

I don't normally have deadline ever - maybe something like 40 pounds in two years or something would be deadline I would set in the past. - I know all about health and exercise. I have actually been trained in strength and conditioning and was a strength coach in college. I have also taken plenty of nutrition courses at my…

Probably right - figured I could at least exercise a little over next 8 days. Maybe feel stronger even if just in my head. - I did try to start a long time ago. One year ago I started losing weight for wedding in August - eventually failed and gave up and was heavier than ever before. Afterwards I said - I'm committed to…

Like a juice cleanse or what do you mean fast?
-
True - thanks for advice and for saying I am not the biggest person you've ever seen. I am losing - slowly but surely.

Waiting for test results in about a week. She actually suggested looking into weight loss surgery - she said about 85% of her clients who have done it have kept off the weight ten years later.

Doctors appointment today. Going to talk about weight loss, general health, workout plan, my nutrition, etc Getting blood tests for low testosterone, glucose (pre-diabetes), cholesterol, and thyroid. See if any of them might be hindering my efforts. Was thinking about maybe getting a prescription for a weight loss pill too…
