Just turn on your shower and breathe in that air for a few minutes...August heat and humidity in the South!

I do think they were too long. Just had a pedicure and had them cut the nails shorter than I normally do. The blood was coming from under the nail bed. There seems to be a little blood pocket under the nail right now too. Hope that doesn't cause me to lose the nail...it is sandal season! Thank you all for the responses.…

Thank you all for the thoughts.....i need to set a timer on my phone or something to remind me to start drinking more water. I don't drink enough! I am glad to know that I can acclimate to it. I was kind of worried about melting! :)

Ran a local bridge yesterday. 3.55 miles

I was talking with my doc about this yesterday. I have been on a very restrictive calorie diet, and in 3 weeks, I haven't lost anything. She feels I am now too low on my calories and wants to transition me off the shakes and back to regular food. I am going to meet with the dietician at my next appointment in a couple of…

Ok, I don't know specifically about the book. I was referring to the insulin spikes and how people's bodies respond to carbs differently. In general, I would agree that carbs don't make you fat. And, in general, I would agree that a calorie is a calorie. But I also know that people with known or unknown issues with blood…

This is me completely. When I fall off the wagon, I am on top of the Empire State building! That fall hurts badly!

I wish I could find someone who would take it seriously. I am not sure if there are even any specialists in my area who could help. I had my thyroid tested, and it was well within normal range (like 1.5). About two months ago, it was checked again and registered 2.5. I asked the doc about it, and she said it was in the…

I have thought about seeing someone for myself. Not sure what I would tell them except that I am a little crazy when it comes to food. I was thinking about rejoining WW for the accountability component. My favorite leader quit, though, and I haven't found another one I have liked. I have never heard of Tony Dean

I was initially prescribed metformin. A tiny dose of 250 mg a day, along with a birth control pill. The pill caused me all kinds of problems--bleeding, emotional outbursts, etc. So, the doc pulled me off of everything. So now, nothing. I have talked to more than one doc, and they all don't take it very seriously because my…

Haha! That is exactly what I told my husband last night. I would like to do that by September. Friend request accepted.

I am 5'4" at 170. Bust: 38" Waist: 32" (getting a tummy tuck this summer to FIX this issue) Hips: 43"

Curious why you so no....this is exactly what my doctor and I have been discussing in regards to my insulin resistance and elevated A1C. Different people do respond to carbs differently.
-
Just one thought I had because it is an issue for me. I have an elevated A1C, so I have to watch my sugar intake. If I don't, the scale will creep up despite the fact I am at or under my calories for the day. You have a lot of sugar in your diet on the days you are logging. Also, because the sugars you are eating are…

The one I am looking at has a training plan, and it even has the dates to start each phase. It has a build up schedule that I could use (although I think I am doing more than that now, and it has a 19 week training schedule along with strength training designed for runners.

I am already signing up for a 5K in June and am looking for at least 1 or 2 local 10ks. I figure that it will keep me on track and accountable.
-
Maybe I need to read up more on the science of all of this running stuff! Might make it easier to know exactly how to attack it. I agree that hitting that 3 mile mark was much harder than making it to 6. I think I will try to do a couple more 10ks before November.
-
Ran my first 10K today.

I would love for low impact exercise and calorie restriction to work without being painstakingly slow. I know I have probably wrecked my metabolism with all the severe calorie restriction, but I really don't know what else to do. I am 170 right now, so at .8, I would need to be at 136 grams of protein a day. I can't even…

Ok, I ended up doing okay today. Last night, I ate a healthy salad, a small piece of pizza, and one cheese ravioli. This morning, I got up a little early so I had time to let my food settle before I started. I drank one of meal replacements. They have both carbs and protein. I also had a small bowl of granola cereal with…

True. I am aware of that....at least on an intellectual level. Emotional level is probably another thing entirely. Tracking on a weekly basis? Like total calories for a week?
-
Because I need to lose about 25 pounds to be in a "healthy" weight range. I need to lose weight. When I eat more, I don't lose anything. Nothing. Sadly, even with this, I am not losing anywhere near where others are losing doing the same plan. :(
-
Thank you for your thoughts on both of your posts. The race is at 8 in the morning, so I plan on eating a regular meal this afternoon and this evening. I will probably be at 1200 calories for the day--may even push it up to 1400 because I am always tired when I work out in the morning. Then I will get up a little early to…

I am pretty sure that I know what it feels like to completely bonk out because I am out of fuel. I have done lots of different things in the past (Insanity, P90X, etc) that were high energy and made me completely collapse. And I was eating regular food then. I am looking for the right kinds of things to add while to add to…

I must have posted it on another post, but I do eat a regular meal on days that I run. It usually bumps me up to about 1100 calories on those days. I am not taking it as mean. I promise. I did talk to my doc about what my goal was with running, and she had me add the calories on those days that I run. Maybe I should add…
sounds like the same one I was on. HMR diet.
I am using Optifast. But yeah, they look very similar.

Never heard of Nuun. Will have to look at that. Bananas seem to be a common theme. I will definitely be eating one!

I am doing 5 meal replacements a day. 160 calories a replacement. 20 carbs per serving. So, that is 100 carbs a day. I wouldn't consider that to be extremely low. Eventually, I would like to do a half marathon. There is one in my area in November. I feel like I need to be at a better weight to be able to do that, though.…
