How to do find the motivation you once had?
In 2009, I started losing weight, and a year later, I was almost 100 pounds lighter. Since then, I have been up and down around 30 pounds or so, but I cannot seem to find the motivation I had at that point. For the longest time, I just made excuses and was content to just kind of go through the motions. I do have medical…

When injury prevents the exercise you love
I am trying to find ideas for ways to change up my working out that will motivate me again. Short history: I started running at the beginning of the year, and I really liked it. I got up to a 10K by April, and I was trudging right along. In May, I fell and tore my meniscus. I didn't realize it was torn for a couple of…

I fell like an idiot...
So being the clumsy person I am, I tripped on air Friday afternoon and busted up my right knee pretty good. I wrapped it and put ice on it all weekend. I have also been taking Motrin regularly to help the inflammation. It is still sore, and I am walking with a good limp right now. I guess I am just mad at myself because I…

I hurt my knee!!! :(
I am pretty bummed. I fell on Friday, and I have been out of commission since then. Every day I think of how hard I have worked to build up my endurance, and I feel it slipping away. I am not sure when I will actually get back out again. :(

First Challenge
April was the first challenge I have done. I surpassed my goal today. Granted, my goal was 28 miles, but still....I did it. :)

NVS because the scale isn't moving
The scale hasn't budged in weeks, but I know something is happening. First pic was taken in February. The second was today....

Running in the heat
One more question for the night. How do you handle the heat and humidity and running? I will admit I am a big baby about weather extremes. I get exercise induced asthma in the cold, but I have never really run in the heat. I live in south Mississippi where it gets crazy hot and humid. I am expecting the warm up to be…

Oh, my aching toe...question about shoes/socks
On shorter runs, my Saucony's have been perfect. Very comfortable, and they are the only shoe that has allowed me to run without having IT band issues (I over supernate pretty severely on the right foot and moderately on the left). However, now that I am going longer distances, I am having toe issues. The 10K I did…

My first 10K and thoughts about my next step
I did my first 10K today. And I ran the whole dang thing-finished in 1 hour 10 minutes (which may seem slow to some, but that is good for me). And I am very proud of myself! I decided to do this a couple months back, and I have been building up to it by running 3 days a week. I started out doing about .5 miles at…

How do you get past the mental aspect?
Short history: I have had a weight issue most of my adult life. Got up to 250 pounds in 2009. Got down to 155 in 2010 by using Weight Watchers and working out. Since then, I maintained for about a year. Then I got busy with life, stopped working out, and put on about 10 pounds. Over the next couple of years, I started…

How to eat before a 10K
I will be running in a 10K on Saturday. I am hoping to make it the whole way through without walking. So far, my furthest distance is 4.7 miles. I have been running for a couple of months now and have worked my way up from about .5 mile running to this 4.7. My biggest problem is bonking out before I go as far as I want to…
