Free range eggs. So much yummier. As for how to cook a semi-boiled egg, I put however many eggs into a pot of COLD water, put them on the gas, make the rest of my breakfast, and then when the water is boiling I turn the gas off and take out my egg if I want it semi-cooked, and leave it in for another few minutes if I want…

TDEE is the amount of calories you need to eat to maintain your weight. Many people use 0.8*TDEE to calculate their calorie goal. BMR is sort of the lower bound many people use. BMR is the amount of energy your body needs to function, before you even add in calories burnt from moving around or exercising.

Add bran as well.

Yeah, it took me a while year to lose just under 20 pounds.
-
I lose about half a pound a week. It works for me, the weight is slowly coming off, I will eventually reach my goal. :3
-
It depends what your goal is. If it is just to lose weight, that is one thing. But if you are like me and your goal was 'To be healthier' and you realised that to be healthier you needed to lose weight, then they are related.

This. I only drink filtered water.

I like having a smoothie for breakfast. I blend together 1 banana, a handful of frozen berries, a spoon of lsa, and a cup of kefir (yoghurt or milk can be used instead). As for lunch, the only time I would drink lunch is if I am having soup.

You guys are the reason for all the "OMG free food at work what do I do!?" threads
-
My best advise is take one portion and then physically remove yourself from the food. If you can't do the above, don't worry I totally understand. We had a work morning tea this week and I pigged out.

Anecdotal evidence incoming: One of my mum's neighbors was a vegetarian for years. Then she started running, and she started getting massive cravings for meat. So she is back to being an omnivore.
-
People may have adopted a vegetarian lifestyle if they were already unhealthy, for example. This sentence popped out at me. Correlation does not equal causation, though I do think this is an interesting study. Also, I agree with a previous post that it is harder work to be healthy and vegetarian, and so some vegetarians…

I love my own cooking, so that helps in the eating what I want.

People who are rich and risk adverse live longer???

Your back muscles keep eating your calories?
-
Did you take photos? Sometimes we forget just how big we used to be.
-
Yeah, I think that is a big part of it. Also, I started part time study at the start of this month, on top of my full time job, and I think that it is harder to focus on weight loss and study at the same time. Well, more accurately, I find it harder to be disciplined about both my study and my eating, exercise is fine…

I guess i should make it clear that it is the bouncing around without being able to see a downward trend that is frustrating me, not the bouncing around itself, since I have been weighing daily for most of the last year, I know ALL about how weight fluctuates, I just have never had a plateau for this long before.
-
I believe in doing what is best for you. I weigh every day, ignore the fluctuations, and take the average for the week. My concern is not the fluctuations, but the fact that the average has been exactly the same every week for the past 4 weeks. I am a statistician by trade, so trend analysis is something I am good at. I…
-
Yeah, I know I can do better than I have the past few weeks. Maybe a few of the days I was out with friends I actually ate more than I logged. I do weigh daily, but I use the app Libra, which just maps the trend. I tried weighing weekly, but it freaked me out more because when I gained I wasn't sure if it was water weight…

Also, I saw a little clip on a news programme with this guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precious_McKenzie He lives in a retirement home, where he gives exercise classes to the other old people, and then goes and lifts huge amounts of weights.

If you preserve/build your muscle mass now your body will be thanking you in 30-50 years time.

Any tea and black coffee. Water. Obvious panda is obvious.

I would be inclined to make 1 serving 100 grams and then weigh the bread before you eat it.
-
So if I told you that I use acetic acid and sodium hydrogen carbonate as cleaning agents, and that both of these are commonly found in foods, such as baked goods, pickles, salad dressing etc. would you freak out?
-
How do you work out how much food you are eating? Also, are you logging EVERYTHING?
-
Water weight. The same thing is happening to me right now, and it is frustrating. Take the others advice, and eat 1500-1600 calories a day.
