What is your height and weight?
-
1) You are unlikely to be getting enough nutrition at 1,000 calories a day. More likely to get cravings which can result in binges. 2) Energy levels are likely to drop, which could lead to a decrease in energy you expend doing everyday activities 3) Your body will increase stress hormones, which can hinder the rate at…

I am 5'3", my sister is 5'11". I literally got the short stick.

I know with my one if I stand too much to one side and not enough in teh middle it can impact on the reading. And no, never trust the scale. It is entirely untrustworthy.

The weight lost will be mostly water and will come back on as soon as you begin to eat food again.
-
Well, if you are currently gaining weight, it might not lead to a weight loss, but it will at least slow the weight gain. If you are currently maintaining weight, it will lead to weight loss, how much depends on how much soda you drink/
-
Shouldn't this also include eating less food?
-
Uhhhhh.... I can. I have a good number of friends who are male who I have never had sexual thoughts about.

Eat a piece of fruit. Sweet, and at around 50 calories per serving of most fruits, easy to fit into your calories. Or, just make sure you have the x calories left that you need to eat a portion of whatever dessert you want.
-
Eat more fats. Avocado, butter, cooking oils, cheese etc. High in calories, and looking at your diary, your fat levels are quite low.

If you ran 5k in 20 minutes in "real life" I would be impressed. On an elliptic, it is probably easier, depending on your resistance setting, because the mechanics of the elliptic will do some of the work for you. Still sounds like a good workout though.

Water retention + food weight.

Tips. Set the activity level to the appropriate level for you lifestyle, Many of us are at least lightly active. If you have less than 10 pounds to lose, chose the 'lose 0.25 kgs/lose 0.5 pounds' option. The 2 pounds a week/1 kg a week option are really just for obese individuals who have a LOT to lose.

If your activity level is wrong, or MFP's estimate of your TDEE is wrong that number will be wrong. I really want to be able to tell MFP what my TDEE is.

When I am putting the banana in a smoothie, I weigh it without the skin, so I have a pretty good idea of the weight of a banana I just pick up to eat (I tend to go on the side of overestimating when I do that). For most other fruits, I weigh the whole fruit and don't worry about the little bit I didn't eat. It is probably…

You mean bananas have CHEMICALS in them!? I thought only bad food had chemicals in them, does that mean bananas are bad? What's that? Everything is made up of chemicals? What? How can that be? This world isn't safe! *hides underneath a table made of chemicals*

WARNING: You will initially see a gain in weight. DON'T PANIC! This will mostly be caused by an increase in glycogen levels due to eating more food. This is part of what people call water weight. Try 1700 calories for at least 4 weeks before assessing if it is causing you to gain or lose weight.

From the way you have replied to these posts it sounds like you really want him out of your life, but for some reason you think he is a sick puppy you need to take care of. HE IS NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! It is his own responsibility that he has enough food to live on, not yours. You should be caring only for yourself (and…

This might sounds counter-intuitive, but it could be the extra exercise which is causing the weight loss to stop. Two sides to this, one is the impacts of stress hormones such as cortisol, on the body. A temporary increase in these hormones are good for you, but when these hormone levels stay raised they are bad for you,…

Oh, sudden thought, is the 1400 gross or net (i.e. are you eating more than 1400 but then subtracting exercise to get back to 1400)?
-
That sounds like very low calories for all that activity. Are you including horse riding in your exercise calories? My sister is also a horse rider and she eats like a horse. :P Well, not really, I have helped her feed her horse and they eat a huge amount of calories. Have you read this topic:…

I don't really know anything about cortisone injections. However, I do know that cortisol is a stress hormone, and that increases of cortisol can hinder in weight loss. But, I don't know if cortisone injections can lead to increases in cortisol outside of the area the injection occurs. Sorry, that is probably rather…

If you eat excess fat (over your maintenance calories) your body stores is as fat. If you eat excess sugars (over your maintenance calories) your body burns it up instead of fat and then stores the left over fat as fat. It will also store some as glycogen, but that is not too much of a problem. i.e. in terms of weight gain…

I am on an 80% 20% diet and I got to get my 20% from somewhere! Why not ice cream? I am considering being in, but I got to work out the cost. Is frozen yoghurt allowed as well? Me love frozen yoghurt.

Thank you for these very well thought out and informative posts.

Wow, there is a lot of misunderstanding about eating disorders and misunderstandings by posters. Nobody is saying that eating healthy and exercising regularly is a disorder. What this is, is that doctors have realized that the same mental thoughts processes are happening in a small minority of people who are healthy as…

My manager and one of my colleagues are both married men, and they often talk to me. I also have friends who are married men and they also often talk to me. I would be a bit offended if a friend of mine stopped talking to me just because he was married. I guess they don't constantly talk to me. I would hate it if they did.…
