There is a section of cardio where you stay in a squat and do punches (so you are only moving your arms and not jumping/moving your legs). You could do more of these and maybe google online some low impact cardio.

Maybe try to find a way to have a shared calendar. I think it is more important for him that you show interest then you actually knowing every detail. If you get a shared calendar you can check it and ask questions about his day.

So I totally fell off the wagon. Went on a trip and came back with back pain. Did the shred one time since. Tonight my husband started the C25K and I kicked butt!
