  • Thanks heaps for the info. Already seeing the calories burnt from exercise decreasing as I lose weight, and I totally get the upping the TDEE the closer I get to my goal - thanks :)
  • Thanks for the reply :) I got the 1400 from just choosing it. I'm 5'11, 39 years old. Trouble with these figures is that they change; used to be 2000 for men... Now 2200 or so...
  • MFP used to tell me to lose 2lb a week, I should eat 3000 calories. Started off at 1800, then 1600, now 1400. I was finding after eating, I'd have about 600 calories left so I'd reduce my calories down a bit rather than eat more. 336lbs was my starting weight... Currently sitting at 255lbs - I've been doing it since Feb…
  • Thanks for the replies. My arms and legs have shrunk, it's just my stomach, crotch and manboobs. Wasn't sure if there were excercises that can help etc I'm 40 next month. Looking to hit around 15st as my goal weight.
  • I had a bulging disk - happened a few years ago when I had a massage whilst on holiday. I got off the table incorrectly (!!) and twisted myself whilst my legs stayed where they were. End result, a horrible crunch and a herniated disk. Doctors didn't diagnose it, so I went 18 months in severe pain with it slipping in and…
  • Last week, I got back from a 10 night stay in Cyprus - I love to call it our 2nd home. Unfortunately, it isnt really our 2nd home but we have been there 3 times now ;) I went there weighing 274lbs - put on 4lbs when I was there. Not bad really as it was 35c there and not really walking weather ;) The above is a photo of my…
  • i'm off to Cyprus on September 11th. Last 6 weeks havent been great as my wife had an op so wanting to hit it hard as of tomorrow and cycle/walk loads. Was hoping to hit 252 lbs by september 11th but alas at 276 now, i doubt it will be acheivable - however, i have come down from 319 since April :)
  • Thanks :) This week, I have returned to a bit of exercise as my wife had a hysterectomy on July 11th. Last week we started walking a little bit - around the block, then a bit further. By Thursday she was able to walk 4.5 miles! Yesterday we did a 4.5 mile cycle and a 3.2 mile walk - straight after each other! The cycle…
  • Congrats! I am currently 276lbs and bought a bike. Managed 47mins up and down hills (4.5mi) before we got home and did a 3.2mi walk :D Was a great feeling but boy is my *kitten* sore! James
  • Just an update for my wife Hairotica. She had her hysterectomy on Monday and was released on Tuesday. She's doing fantastic and thankfully no external scarring so she is SO happy! She is so happy with her flat tummy but knows she keeps bloating then going down, then bloating etc - but she can't wait to get back to…
  • 39lbs lost so far - so it took 2 weeks longer to get to my 1st goal weight - but excellent! So I am now 20 stone (280lbs) so I am on track to hit my 18 stone target by September 11th! I found a work t-shirt that I never wore in the 4 years I have had it because it was too tight on me. I put it on and it fits perfectly! It…

  • WOW - walked almost 10 miles today and tracked it all with my spanky new Garmin Forerunner 305! http://connect.garmin.com/activity/96272754 Had a couple of NSVs too: 1. Went to see Transformers last night and the seat didnt feel cramped! My bum/outer thighs didnt touch the sides and loads more elbow room! 2. We have a bath…
  • Thanks all :) I had more comments on the weight loss from work colleagues - they are stopping me in the corridor and telling me how great I look and if I have lost weight :) Ace feeling!
  • What are "Figure Four" stretches? I suffer from lower back pain - when I was 18, I had a car crash and fractured my lower back - it's healed but I still get pain in it especially because I am overweight. Last Friday, I did day 3 of the Couch to 5K and in the evening the pain in my lower back was almost unbearable. Even…
  • Japanese food is very healthy - love it! As for Thai - it is deffo better than Chinese because of the lack of MSGs etc. Calorie-wise, it isnt great as coconut milk is really high in calories and fat - however, the ingredients are 'clean' - no artificial guff. I love Thai and Japanese and cant remember when I last had…
  • Why do people think Thai is healthy? Have you seen how much fat is in coconut milk? I make Thai food a lot and the average main course is about 500+ calories without rice/noodles! And that is a Chicken Penang curry :) Edit: Was wrong - 395 per person without rice/noodles: Tesco - Chicken Breast Fillets (Grilled), 2 chicken…

  • Weighed myself yesterday and today and another 2lbs lost bringing my weight to 20st 5lbs / 285lbs! Excellent! 90.25mi walked so far in June - should hit the target in the next 2 days :D
  • How about Singapore Vermicelli? It is rice noodles, chilli, chicken, port and veg. No sauces.
  • WOW - lost some more weight now - I weigh 20st 7lbs now which is 287lbs! 32lbs lost so far! I think this running has kick started the weight loss again! Tomorrow I am working to walk and back, so about 10miles in total - then whatever else we are going to do will mean we'll ALMOST be hitting 100mi walked in June challenge!…
  • The FT4/FT7 - doesnt have GPS on them - am kinda wanting GPS to track distance - also for use when I head to Cyprus in September too as my iPhone's MapMyRun uses A-GPS and not full GPS so it wont work out there :/
  • Hmmm been looking at the Garmin Forerunner 305 or 405CX but confused. The 305 doesnt work out the calories burned correctly - which is a major problem as I want something that is accurate - but the devices that take heart rate, ascents/descents etc into account aren't accurate either. So what do I do? I KNOW the Garmin…
  • I used to think "If only someone would take away all my fat and then I would maintain my weight better". The reality is that all these obese people (myself included) want a quick fix. So they have surgery. I know a few people who have had gastric bands. One woman lost weight, but they learnt to cheat the system and has put…
  • This morning I had porridge and some sliced apple and grapes.
  • Just an update. Back down to 293lbs - but no weight loss. However, not down beat about it because I am SERIOUSLY ramping up the exercise! This weekend, Julia and I decided to drive out to Howarth to do the Bronte walk. It was meant to be an 8.1 mile walk through Howarth village center then up onto the moors going through…
  • Deffo not constipation - can hand on heart say I have never been constipated ;) Will try the fizzy thing... actually, now you mention it this coincides with me giving up fizzy drinks and only drinking water! I was a bit concerned about gall stones, but not had any other pains...
