  • I switched to Tirosint when I got a new endocrinologist. She said it had less fillers but so far, I've yet to really notice much of a difference.
  • I have Hashimotos with antibodies that were too high to register at my lab. I struggle with brain fog and tiredness on top of trying to lose weight. I think I've just gotten used to being tired, though.
  • Each lab has its own range so I think it depends. Do you have the ranges for your labwork?

  • Afura is right, the iron won't help with weight loss/gain. It was just an observation that it seems a bit low. I just noticed that you're on Levo and Armour at the same time, which is confusing to me. Levo is a T4 drug and Armour is a T4/T3 combo. You should probably talk to your doctor about being solely on Armour or…
  • It isn't your thyroid that's causing your weight gain, if that's your concern. Your iron seems a little low but your blood tests all look good regarding TSH, FT3 and FT4. I can't see your diary but whenever I hit a plateau, I increase cardio and up my water intake.
  • Your ultrasound will only show you if you have thyroid disease. The antibodies are the only true test for Hashimotos.
  • The only way to distinguish Hypothyroidism from Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is with a blood test to test your antibody levels. If there are antibodies present, you have Hashimoto's. If there are no antibodies, then it's just Hypothyroidism. Hashimoto's is the auto-immune disease associated with hypothyroidism - hence the…
  • What dose of meds are you currently on? I agree that you should have all of your labs re-run to see where you're at with meds but if you're on a super low dose, it might actually make sense. When you're on meds, your thyroid gets lazy and stops working altogether. If you're on a low enough dose though, and you've lost a…
  • THIS. I have Hashimotos and decided to start working out despite my fatigue. I ended up with a stress fracture in my tibia from doing too much too fast. Start slowly. My stats are very similar to yours. I'm 5'3" with a starting weight of 200 and a goal of 135. With thyroid disease, losing weight takes longer. You may not…
  • I take 75 mcg of Tirosint and 5 mcg of Cytomel (generic). The Tirosint is a brand name version of levothyroxine that is in gel cap form. It's kind of awesome because it doesn't have a lot of the additives that the generic does.
  • Hashimoto's since 2010 here! It moved in with a 60 lb. weight gain that doesn't want to come off! 75 mcg of Tirosint (gel cap version of levothyroxine without the side effects) and 5 mcg of Cytomel. Feel free to add me, always like new friends!!
  • I've been told that if you use table salt, you don't need to supplement the Iodine, even if you only use a little salt, because it's been added. If you use natural sea salt, however, you may want to supplement.
  • I make a smoothie with greek yogurt, frozen berries, orange juice and some honey. Under 200 calories with about 12g of protein. It's quick and easy and I can drink it on my way to work.
  • Also looking to lose about 80 lbs. total. Down about 7 so far. Feel free to add me.
  • I was diagnosed with Hashi's two years ago and I'm still switching up my meds every few months to find the right combination for getting my energy back. I found that I just have to push through and force myself to do things that will hopefully generate more energy for me. I also take B complex vitamins every day for a…
