  • Clarification: The tolerable upper intake level for adults (UL) -that means the most any person should have in one day- is set by the FDA at 2300 mg/day. The Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) -a manageable intake level for the average adult age19-50 - is 1500 mg/day. The average US persons sodium intake is 3000 mg/day, and is…
  • Since you're speaking of nursing school, I'll vent with you. I've applied to a few nursing schools for this fall. All of my colleagues have already had interviews or been accepted, and I'm left wondering what the hell? Is there something about having a 4.0 that I missed? AHHHH I’m going out of my mind, and the stress is…
  • Ooops...I started a graveyard shift for some temporary work that came available. Alone that messed up my schedule and body. BUT, unbenounced to me, the midnight shift gets catered food: Chicken wings, prime rib, BBQ, mac & cheese, cobbler, bread pudding, fried shimp, you name it. Hard to resist. AHHHHHHHH.
  • Yes you do! Biggest Looser had the perfect example a few weeks ago of what happens when you don't consume your expected calorie count. A few team members decided to cut their calories in half in hopes of gaining a weight loss edge over the other team. It completely backfired. Despite hard workouts, they didn't loose but…

Ketosis is a process by wich the liver basically turns protein into energy, becuause there are no carbs for energy. This is also a dangerous diet for many many reasons. So, eating more protein and less carbs is only harming your…

In fact on more than one day, they were at 6000mg (3 times the daily recommended amount over) The tolerable upper intake levels are set at only 2300mg per day. I eat very healthy, and am relatively within the recommended amounts for other groups. I…
  • If you do it consistantly for at least 20 min (no breaks, or long pauses), it counts. If you really need somewhere to start, you could start here: I dare you to speed walk for 25 minutes tomorrow. Then increase that time by two minutes evey day for the next 15 days. On day 16 try jogging. Good luck

  • I also like the show, and I appreciate the motivation it gives to people to loose weight. HOWEVER, I have two big problems with the show. (1) It is a rare instance that the routines these people are doing to loose weight are told to the audience. There may be a tip here and there, but the majority of the show’s focus is on…
  • Keep this in mind: Fat in food has 9 calories per gram Protein in food has 4 calories per gram Carbs in food has 4 calories per gram Alcohol (whether in wine, beer, or liquor) has 7 calories per gram. There's a reason alcohol doesn't have nutrition labels. I know that drinking is part of a good time, but for losing weight…
