I decided to try supplementing my breakfast with a protein shake thinking I could cut calories and stay full until lunch, which I do
BUT ...now my protein intake is WAY over what it should be. Isn't that going to make me gain weight?
Even if I stay mostly within my calorie budget?
Please help!!!!

A diet containing excess protein can have the following adverse effects:
Adding more protein but not more calories or exercise to your diet won't help you build more muscle mass, but it may put your other bodily systems under stress.
Eating more protein and increasing total caloric intake while maintaining the same exercise level will build an equal amount of additional fat and muscle mass, according to a study published in 1992 in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.0 -
A high protein diet only works if you eat so little amount of carbs that you induce ketosis. Ketosis is a process by wich the liver basically turns protein into energy, becuause there are no carbs for energy. This is also a dangerous diet for many many reasons. So, eating more protein and less carbs is only harming your weight loss unless you are doing it enough to induce ketosis. Excess protein you eat is broken down in your body, and one of the products of that breakdown is stored as fat. Heavy training/workouts can counter that, but it's a lot easier and tastier to just eat more carbs and less protein.
Try toast (along with a regular breakfast) in the morning. Plenty of carbs, and it's suprisingly filling and sustaining.0
