I lift more at 54 than I did in my forties. Hope to keep improving into my 70s. ;^)

Depends. Do you want to outrun the cheetah, or be able to lift it? I do both weights and cardio.

Sorry, I focus on how strong I want to feel, not how I look. As for food, if you want to get lean lean lean eat a lot of protein, some fat, and low carbs.

Yay! I love it, even though I'm not that great at it yet! The level 2 classes just up the intensity... and all that energy in the class is inspiring so you work harder!

Dark chocolate. With nuts in it, so it's healthy!

Warm up first, use the leg machines for now until your tendons are better, work with a trainer, and don't go past thighs horizontal to the ground. I take a supplement called Super Cissus which is great for tendonosis, which it sounds like you've developed. It's a bit expensive, but works in about two to three weeks and I…

From what I'm reading 18 hrs a day is sufficient and eating within a six hour window gives your body enough time to think it is fasting. Or perhaps just pay attention to your body and only eat if you're actually hungry. My trainer does IF and drinks a chia seed mixture during the day. He looks great right now.

Do you work with a trainer? Might be worth a few sessions if not to make sure you're lifting properly. I find the trainer helps me out when I'm hurt (which is often given my age...) and can modify so I can ease back in.

FInally found them and got the cookie dough. Not bad.

You might want to get a FitBit or something that helps you track a little more easily. I use the phone app and find that it so helpful to keep track when I'm not at home!

Body Sculpting Bible is pretty good, and they have a web site as well. Oxygen Magazine is awesome and always has good strength training and nutrition articles. But I would recommend you get a trainer if possible. I read things and tried things on my own for years, but having a trainer really made all the difference for me.

I don't like them for breakfast but often have black beans for lunch. They are my favorite.

Insane golden retrievers.

I just wish I could find them at all. Always sold out here. Guess I'll have to order online...

What else was going on? This wasn't about you just seeing you were close to your goal and deciding to sabotage yourself, really? What other factors were involved? Mood? An outside event? Feeling you had lost control of something else? Think about the awareness of how you feel, what you're eating, and what you're doing, not…

I just use "Rubenesque".

My husband and I work with a trainer who is always mixing it up for us. Mostly if you work more than a couple times a week you want to vary your routine so you aren't over emphasizing any particular muscle group. Alternate days for upper and lower are good. Abs you can work every day. We tend to do a lot of compound moves…

I'm not logging zero calorie things because why.... I started here to create awareness of what I eat, and it's helping a lot. Seeing where the extra fat and carbs are coming from is pretty eye opening. Started ordering dressings on the side, limiting portions more, and getting fat free or low fat versions of things…

I only get the scornful looks from the guys in the gym -- until I chide them for using my weights and grab the next bar up to work out with...

I don't care for BMI since it doesn't consider body type and lean muscle mass. Not everyone the same height and weight is in the same shape.

what about things like rice or bread pudding, custard, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, soup, jello, greek yogurt, chicken and dumplings, beef stew, chicken pot pie, risotto, miso soup? bland but tasty, simple, easy to fix, and easy on the throat...

Jay Robb egg white or whey, Designer Whey, Sprouts Show me the Whey, and MRM egg white. All are stevia sweetened so low carb, too.

Try a D3K2 supplement -- that was what dropped my cholesterol like crazy. Omega 3s help a lot too.

Mine coulda modeled for that Nike campaign a couple years back: “My butt is big and round like the letter C and ten thousand lunges has made it rounder but not smaller and that’s just fine. It’s a space heater for my side of the bed/ It’s my ambassador to those who walk behind me/ It’s a border collie that herds skinny…

Luna or Cliff Builders. Best tasting. May try the Quest since yeah the sugar is kinda redonk in the Luna and Cliff bars.

It makes sense at any size! Get with a trainer and get going! ;^)

We do weight lifting together, have for years now. He's supposed to lift twice my weights, but doesn't always make it! He also came to a couples class at the Bar Method with me. Found out our workout was a lot harder than he thought. A lot of the guys had trouble making it through the 70 pushups and thigh work....

Cottage cheese, egg white protein shakes, low fat cheese sticks, and fat free salad dressings have helped me cut fat. Lean meats and lots of fish. But don't cut good fats -- up the Omega 3s -- fish, avocado, and other healthy fats.

I'm 5'5" and today at 148.8. I lift weights and work out so lots of it is muscle. My goal is to take off another ten so I have more definition. But I think I'm doing pretty good for 54. I would say aim to be healthy, not to look a certain way. Healthy people look better at any size. I see lots of "skinny fat" people who…

MRM is good too. I use their egg white protein as well. There's also a brand called Vega that is pea protein based, gluten dairy and soy free. I don't like it as well though, kind of chalky.
