All I know is I stopped eating most refined flours and started eating more fish and EPA/DHA supplementing, and stopped having any arthritis pain and joint inflammation. It may be placebo, but whatever, it worked.

You don't really have to eat that soon after a workout. I'm often not super hungry after so just have a light snack. Sometime within the next few hours you probably want to get protein and carbs, though. But your body will rebuild when it can no matter what you do. You just recover a little sooner if you refeed a little…

Heh. Lost my initial pounds and have been at maintenance weight for years. I still try to lose more, but can't get beyond this set point no matter what I do it seems. But hey, you keep lifting and getting stronger, and it still feels good, whatever the body weight is doing. I measure my progress in how many pounds I'm…

Jay Robb is about the only one I can really stand. Biochem is not bad either.

Lose it slow and it will stay off. Losing 20-30 pounds in a few months may be setting yourself up for rebound weight gain. Start some strength training. Build lean muscle mass. That's how you keep it off.

We're women. It's supposed to be there. Really. There's a certain amount of female fat you want to keep around, for a lot of reasons. It's just good for you and more comfy for the guys, too.

tequila. I wake up weighing less in the morning. Just drink it straight, though, no margaritas. Although Skinny Girl is not bad if you must have margaritas...

Figure out what you eat often for breakfast, lunch or dinner and make a "meal" entry for that. One touch on your phone app and your data is entered. Easy peasy to keep track when out to eat or at work if you often eat the same meals.
-
If you eat dark chocolate instead, you can actually feel good about it. ;^)

I'm not tracking as closely these days and know my calories have gone up the days I do keep track. Also not really working out as much with winter, etc. But still at same weight. So no, you may not necessarily gain much. The body is pretty good at maintaining as long as you don't significantly overeat.

1.6 - 2.4 grams per kilogram of lean body mass.

Brooks and Asics work for me. Only ones I can find that are really wide enough.
-
You mean you get muscle definition? You're supposed to have that. If you don't want to look that way then don't work out and don't lose weight.
-
trainer. best thing I ever did. 3 years of weight training now and stronger and healthier than ever at 54!
-
cheeeeeese!

If you are overtraining and under eating, it can affect your thyroid and cause hair loss. Or you may not be getting all the vitamins you need.
-
You burn way more than 500 calories a day. Read some of the intro threads, and learn about your basal metabolic rate, etc. And at 5'7" and 144, you sure don't need to lose much! You might want to do some weight training and build more lean muscle mass instead. ;^)

fitbit and jawbone will both link to MFP. We use fitbit and like it a lot. Don't know much about jawbone.

Stretching before you get up might help. The best thing I've found for fascia and tendinosis pain has been Super Cissus. And yeah, it sucks, but -- rest.

Body Sculpting Bible and Wonen's Strength Training Anatomy. Know what muscles you're working and why.

We love our L.A. Fitness trainer. Been working out him 3 years now. Just have to insist on a good one. They do exist. :)
-
Sigh. Just stop. Stop this. Now.

If you can't afford equipment or the gym just do body weight exercises. Squats, pushups (start with just doing them against the kitchen counter), lunges, leg lifts, crunches, and pretty much anything that gets you moving is great. If you're running, do some sprint intervals -- that should take the weight off pretty quickly!
-
Squat squat squat squat deadlift deadlift squat....
-
Yes, it's exercise. It's also pointless. ;^) I haven't ironed anything in years.
-
Can we get over the squats/lifting makes you bulky myth? It doesn't. You just look and feel better and stronger. Been lifting 3 years and am a lot less bulky than ever! Yes, I love My Bar Method workouts, too. They compliment each other quite well.

The fitbit adds in your steps and will adjust your calories on MFP if used properly. It's not going to record cycling since you're not stepping when you're cycling. If you want to record cycling calories, record them on MFP. If you do an exercise class, record it in MFP. The fitbit WILL automatically transfer your…

You don't walk around with food or drinks in Japan. So if you snack it's a small portion that you eat or drink while standing by the vending machine and throw the can or package away right there. Food portions are smaller and there is societal pressure to watch weight -- companies are often fined for overweight employees…

If I'm gonna ride a bike I wanna go somewhere, dammit.

What's wrong with fat? Fat is delicious and filling stuff.
