Since ice cream was rejected... wine? ;)

Today I have “color by number to reduce stress” and Avocado ads. Both seem Germaine to my interests.

You know how you can find this out? By diligently and accurately logging your intake for 6-8 weeks and monitoring your weight results. No wondering needed...

Most important thing for you to wrap your head around is that eating healthy (or unhealthy) does not directly determine weight loss or gain. Sure, eating a balanced, nutrient dense diet is important for a lot of reasons - overall health, energy, satiety, etc. But weight loss and gain is determined solely by calorie intake.…

What’s a clean fast? How do you think it will help you achieve your goals? What are your goals? The fact that you refer to intermittent fasting as “the big thing right now” is telling. Weight loss comes down to a calorie deficit. Intermittent fasting is a popular approach right now but the weight loss comes down to a…

This isn’t actually a recipe for homemade dog food, right? Can’t imagine the tomato sauce being good for their stomachs. Are you intending this to be the sole component of your diet? Why?

I made this last night... https://www.sparklestosprinkles.com/instant-pot-lemon-chicken-orzo-soup/

3 consecutive days AF. So 3/8 for the month. Tomorrow is a “tacos and tequila” fundraiser party. Hoping to get one more AF day out of the weekend but... football. We’ll see. Double digit AF days in Jan would be good, I didn’t hit that in December.

Yeah I never thought about it but there's definitely a connotation in my mind to the phrase "sober" vs "alcohol free" With this group I embraced the idea of tracking AF days, to me, being "sober" has connotations with recovery, AA. It also strikes me as the opposite of "drunk" which I may be splitting hairs here, but…

This post is filled with concerning statements, but also woo and pseudoscience. Your hunger signals are likely broken Water fasts aren't healthy Your body isn't filled with toxins You say you want to get healthy for you, but what you're doing is the opposite of healthy. You are starving yourself and you are going to crash,…

Yeah but if her rate of loss is even close to accurate, 1 lb/day, she really is eating quite low and she said she's already lost ~43 lbs (although we don't know over what time period), suggesting this isn't just a big initial woosh.
-
Why are you eating so few calories? Losing 1 lb/day is not healthy. 1 lb/week, maybe 1.5lb/week, depending how much weight you still have to lose, is far more reasonable and sustainable. Water fasts are not healthy.

I got an Air Fryer for Christmas. I joined a couple of Facebook groups. Now I'm doubly confused because I had finally gotten to the point where AF to me meant Alcohol Free more than what you're referring to. Tonight I'm going to be AF AF and use my AF for making dinner.

None of this is a requirement. OP has given no indication of what her typical diet or health is like, so why would she need to reduce salt (does she have hypertension?)? Did she indicate she has a tendency to overconsume sugar, crowding out other nutrients? That's the main reason why it can be advisable (also because some…

Part of learning to eat what your body needs is understanding that if you are exercising or more active than normal, your body needs more fuel to support that. Which is exactly why eating back calories, with reasonable attention to accuracy, is important for long term success. Just ignoring them and going by body weight,…

Hi all I’m still around. The holidays were crazy and hectic and fun and I took a much needed break from work. I also took a break from tracking food, exercising, and drinking less. Whoops. But although I’ve been drinking daily and sometimes more than a couple drinks - I haven’t had any crazy over indulgences, no hangovers,…

@snickerscharlie ? Sorry just got an air fryer for Christmas and am returning to the boards after a self imposed hiatus so I couldn’t help bumping an old thread....

Hi all, OP here. Glad this post continues to be helpful! I’ve fallen away from some of my old habits and need to take my own advice to help get back on the wagon! Happy (almost) New Year and New Decade!

Awww @MissMay I don’t mind hugs I just miss when we had “awesome” as a reaction. I would far rather have awesome posts as huggable posts! 😜 Happy December everyone. November was insane for me on the work front. Many, many long days sometimes working on European and US times consecutively due to a project go live. The…

I can’t remember who upthread was asking about decent NA wines. I have never found one, but, this has been showing up in my Facebook feed quite a bit lately. https://www.dryfarmwines.com/ Not alcohol free but lower alcohol content and lower sulfites so it might be a good alternative for folks practicing mindful moderation…

Whether you use TDEE or use the MFP NEAT you should be accounting for exercise calories one way or another. Why do you choose not to?
-
Why do you feel that Keto and calorie reduction are mutually exclusive? If you are losing weight, truly losing fat and not just water weight, it’s because you are in a calorie deficit. You can eat a low carb high fat diet and still count calories and in fact that’s what many successful keto followers do. No one suggests…

I think you might be missing the context of the thread. It isn’t about depriving yourself or lamenting what you can’t have, at least not for most of us. It’s about sharing what foods tempt you, whether you choose to indulge in them right then or not.

But But But BPA.

And haven’t you heard? All sorts of hidden sugar. Might as well just give them jumbo pixie sticks.
-
@dawnbgethealthy you’ll get back on track. A lot of people on MFP find success with diet breaks to kind of recharge themselves after the fatigue of constantly monitoring and being vigilant about a deficit. You’ve loosened up the reins but you’re aware and still logging for accountability. You got this!

13/23 days AF so far. On a pretty good trend but I fear my rest of the month will be pretty damp. @dawnbgethealthy we are headed to a Blues game tomorrow night! Friday night the traveling show of Dear Evan Hansen with some girlfriends, Saturday night a Halloween party, Sunday night my Chiefs play... Monday leave for a work…

Can you provide some examples of these processed foods you think may be unknowingly contributing to people’s sugar intake? I’ve seen this claim before about “hidden sugars” and as someone who eats a mix of convenience and Whole Foods I rarely find myself over my sugar goal, when I do bother to check, so I’m curious about…

Who gave you the rule of “nothing white” and “no sodium”? Was it your doctor? A registered dietician? Or a plan you found/created yourself?

Why do you believe your maintenance calories are 1700? Where did you get this number from, if you aren’t logging consistently to track the effects of your intake?
