Someone doesn’t know how the site works....

This is what I was going to say. OP doesn’t seem to actually want to engage in a science/fact based discussion of the nutritional pros and cons of a particular diet rather to dismiss anyone who is perceived as disagreeing with his choice and high fiving those he believes are validating his plan.

Seconded. It’s hard to provide a counter argument against a term as vague as “unhealthy”. I’m allergic to strawberries. For me they are unhealthy. I don’t expect others to never eat strawberries because of my situation.

I’m sorry OP and you aren’t going to like this post either but no one is attacking you and when you post on a public message board like this you do not get to dictate the kind of responses that you will get. I’m sorry your feelings are hurt but this is why I question whether you have the maturity to be posting on a forum…

Maybe we can agree we shouldn’t shame people for ANY of their food choices, whether they choose to cut something out or choose to enjoy a Big Mac or a bowl of chips....
-
If a relatively benign comment trying to highlight that self confidence is a more attractive trait than insecurity really hurts you, I’m not sure an Internet forum is a great place for you to be posting. How old are you OP?

7/10 days AF heading into the weekend. Heading to my hometown and will meet up with my siblings and spouses probably for Mexican or BBQ, for sure drinks will be consumed.
-
Maybe to give you something to consider talking to a professional about? These reactions to posts that you invited, by posting on a public forum, are concerning.

I may need to show my kids this trick.

When I first joined this group and was initially cutting back I used to notice the internal debates that my “drinking brain” and “sober brain” would have which sounds a lot like what you describe. You did great! And it will get a lot easier. I’m doing what I call mindful moderation and trying to be AF during the week and…

You sound like you have a lot going on in your life. Do you have any stress reducers that aren’t long distance running? Just in case of injury, illness, etc but also to maybe incorporate some yoga or meditation? I’m a high achieving type A personality also and I get the need to have an outlet especially if it also helps…

That’s fair! I agree, it’s good to remind people you don’t have to be balls to the walls at the gym in order to be successful, finding any activity you enjoy can help make fitness more fun and even then, isn’t required in order to lose weight. Also fair! I think I need more coffee and less allergies this morning. Sorry OP.…

This seems like a humble brag. What does it matter if I’m more active than others around me? My fitness and health are just for me and to ensure I’m healthy for my family.
-
Also back to your original question of if this should be a concern... a wise rabbit on these boards used to say “the winner is the one who eats the most and still loses the weight”. I and many others have found that because we have a higher NEAT than our stats would suggest (and for many of us that’s through purposeful…

What is a typical day of activity/exercise like for you? A lot of people think just because they have a desk job that they are sedentary but did you know that the typical definition of sedentary is less than 4000 steps/day? I have a desk job but I also have a busy life, even with no purposeful exercise I get 4000 steps…

Whoever those people are, if they are real life acquaintances, stop talking to them about anything weight loss, health or fitness related. If this was a website, stop visiting it for reliable weight loss info.
-
OP what are your stats? What is your goal? What rate of loss did you choose? What activity level did you choose? What is your typical activity/exercise routine? Are you using a food scale for logging accuracy? Have you read the stickied most helpful forum posts at the top of the getting started section for great info about…
-
Not necessarily, it depends on the exercise and the individual. The MFP adjustments were accurate for me when I first started, and when I got a FitBit and started eating back exercise adjustments from the device being synced it was also accurate enough for my needs.

Not in any reproducible or significant ways. It’s an overly marketed snake oil that people are led to believe have myriad benefits that don’t actually exist. Some people have posted in this thread and countless others some useful home applications (namely recipes and fruit fly riddance). Save yourself the trouble and the…

Your parents wanting to take you out to eat is a fml situation? Those of us who have lost our parents would give anything to have one more meal with them. Sorry their generosity is ruining your life.
-
What are you basing this on? What are your credentials to be making these claims? What are your controls to exclude other variables that may be causing similar symptoms? How does too much cardio cause increased body fat, independent of any mention of calorie intake?
-
What are your overall stats? Are you trying to lose weight? How much? What rate of loss did you choose? What activity level did you select? Do you have negative calorie adjustments enabled? Is today an anomaly or will you continue to see these kinds of step counts and burns?
-
What rate of loss did you choose to get that 1440? With only ~10 lbs to lose you should be aiming for about 0.5 lbs/week. As others have said, MFP is based off of NEAT so even though you likely are lightly active in your day to day, you should be logging and eating back a portion of purposeful exercise as well. Lastly, MFP…

Have started off October strong with 3AF days so far and ended Sep with 2AF days so a 5 day streak for me. That even includes a spontaneous weeknight trip to a Mexican restaurant where jumbo margaritas were on special but I decided to stick to water. This weekend includes special events each night - girls dinner, a…

What is it about this diet that appeals to you?

Once you read through the maintenance forums, you’ll see that one of the characteristics of successful maintainers is that the continue to log and monitor their intake, maybe not forever, and maybe not quite as strictly, but for sure in early weeks/months of maintenance they continue to log. Those who treat achieving the…

I’m trying to understand what you are saying. Are you saying the FitBit total calories burned are 2500 and your MFP NEAT goal is 1250 and you are averaging that but not losing weight even when logging accurately using a food scale? How many total calories are you eating on average? Because regardless if FitBit is…
-
^this. Being impatient and having unrealistic expectations is not likely to lead to long term success. As someone else said - you aren’t only in this for the amount of time to lose weight, but to build healthy sustainable habits that can carry you into maintenance as well. I lost ~30 lbs and it took me just over a year.…
-
0.5 lbs/week is what you should be aiming for with so little to lose. Whether MFP’s goal of 1220 NEAT (not including exercise) is right for you or you can go higher and still lose really is difficult to predict just from numbers, but after 4-6 weeks of data (especially if you are logging accurately using a food scale) you…

Lots of us look at calories over the week whether we are losing or maintaining. If you use the app you can even track a weekly deficit. Additionally I often Bank calories for more indulgent weekend events. Never hindered my progress.
