  • Christmas was kind of a disaster for me but I've backed down off of where I was. I've been maintaining for over 2 years. January 12th is actually my 3 year anniversary of when I started. To be honest, from Thanksgiving on was a disaster but really it's all just a series of excuses. I didn't have to overeat on Thanksgiving…
  • Exercising in a gym is good for overall fitness but, as your subject suggests, your food intake has a lot more to do with losing weight. As far as moderation goes, your body gets used to it after a while. I now no longer eat until I'm stuffed but until I'm not hungry anymore. It took a bit until it was enough but now it is.
  • I've found (tracking calories since January 2014) that if I make the right choices, the macros (fat, protein, carbs, etc) seem to follow. I come very close to or hit right on my macro goals simply by making healthier choices in foods I eat. The others are right but I wanted to say that if you make the right decisions on…
  • Original plan: Buffet on Christmas Eve, eat whatever on Christmas. Back to plan after. Actually did: The original plan above. Gain / Lose / Maintain: I gained 3.8 pounds according to the scale. 2.6 of that is gone, the rest will follow soon. Plan going forward: Keep on truckin' with counting and keeping calories where they…
  • I overindulged on 12/24 and 12/25 but was back to it on 12/26. I gained 3.8 lbs on the scale from the morning of 12/24 to the morning of 12/26. As of this morning, I've shed 3 of those pounds. In the end, it'll be a week to get back to where I was. I'd say it was worth it but only 12/24 was. I felt really sick due to what…
  • My favorite breakfast is very boring. 165 calories of chocolate cheerios, 15 for a half cup of almond milk. I like my breakfast and lunch to be small and predictable. I get through my work day just fine with this.
  • I usually eat either chocolate cheerios with almond milk or multigrain cheerios with almond milk. 180 calories and it keeps me going until lunch every day. My weekday breakfast and lunch are very predictable and consistent. I am not the type who needs variety so this works well for me.
  • I think I'll stay strong and stick with it because it works. I've lost 79 pounds in 9 months. I'm 35 years old and not getting any younger. My kids are 5 & 10 and now they have a healthy Daddy. I don't want to take their healthy Daddy away from them. Others quit because it's easy. It's easy to go back to eating crap, not…
  • I think a less aggressive goal is 10 pounds a month, maybe aim to be under 300 by the time you start school? I try to choose small goals so that they're easier to achieve. 60 pounds in 60 days may just be impossible, without surgery. Scott
