A little over a year ago I was running Half Marathons after starting running with C25K in December of 2012. Then my daughter got ill, my work life got overwhelming and I fell out f all my good habits. I quit that job, we moved home to Kentucky, and I am starting over again with C25K after months of inactivity and a weight…

I am not at goal, but I stopped tracking in May. I am 5' 8" and down from 230 pounds in December of 2012 to 165 pounds currently. I have more or less maintained the same weight without logging a thing for about three months. Hallelujah! I still watch my portions and I am in training for a half marathon. I use mfp…

Congratulations and good luck! What a wonderful decision you have made. I was 230 pounds (Female and 5'8") when I started C25K December 28th, 2013 having asthma and never having run in my life. I followed the program faithfully. Once I completed it, I continued to run three times a week and add distance gradually over the…

Yes! Hearing my own breathing was weird! But it was good too, because I could focus better on controlling it.

That sounds really good, Petra! Especially the "enjoying the runs" part! :-)

Excellent advice, Tim! When I ran my HM, I approached it as if I were running two 5 mile races and a 5K. I mentally "celebrated" finishing each race. As for music, I find I often run faster without it, unless I have carefully crafted the playlist. I totally unconsciously speed up or slow down depending upon the BPM of the…

Yes! Intervals do make such a difference. The really cool thing is, that you will eventually find that you can maintain that speed over distance, without the breaks. This post makes me anxious and excited to get back to real training again. You need to do a 5K race for fun. I bet you would just KILL it.

That's fabulous Ceci!!!! You are a powerhouse!
-
Wow! That's great!!!! Congratulations!
-
Yay for keeping going anyway! That is a HUGE win! And awesome that your average pace was faster than your long runs! Don't you love seeing the dedication and persistence paying off?
-
Currently banned from running due to the continuation of my varicose procedures. Grrrr....not a happy camper. (Understatement.)
-
And you felt strong because you are! You are strong and fast!!!!! Awesome.
-
Totally awesome!!! And YES! You could run a HM already. Run your next long run at a bit shorter distance (for me it was 8 miles vs. the previous week's 10 miler) then a tempo paced 5 miles and then a two or three day break and then a glorious 13.1. YOU ARE THERE!

I failed. I couldn't keep my tracking going. I caved under the pressures of too much life. But...that doesn't mean I won't dust myself off and try again. The good news is, eventhough I didn't keep up with tracking my calories, I did maintain my current weight exactly thoughout the period. So I succeeded in result, if not…

This race sounds amazing!!! Congrats on your wedding too! LOL!!!

Confession time....In my last few weeks of HM training I felt I was losing a little love for running. I know. *Gasp!* It was so hard to fit in those long runs and my non-running life was (is) out of control. I was so afraid that I would fail because I was hardly able to get in two runs a week. But then I realized I just…

I know it's shallow, but I'm all in for the medals...I want to see it!

Aw. Thanks, Varda! You are such a true and good friend. I feel good inside. There is still a lot that could be done for the outside...but I'm not so worried about that. I just love what I can DO now! I am better than ever! LOL! And pretty darn happy!

Congrats!!! Awesome time!!!!

This is one of the most amazing posts ever. I got a chill reading it. Amazing what can be done through determination and dedication. Just think how far you have come! Physically, mentally and spiritually. What a great runaversary. Poetic! And you ran 13 miles!!!!! Awesome!!! As for hydration...That is a lot of water! Wow!…

Welcome to all the new people!!! How cool to have some new voices yearning to run longer distances. ;-) I ran my first ever half marathon in 2:20:37!!! Way better than my projected 2:30. I finished strong and feeling good!!!! My husband drove me and saw me off at the 7:15AM start. Then he went back home to wait and bring…

Aw, Rindy...that really sucks. I hope you can recover quickly. Have you considered a form evaluation? Maybe your form is doing you in? Also, weight training...to strengthen your quads and hips to give better support to your knees? How about your arch support? (I'm guessing the guy that fitted you for your shoes already…

Made it! :-) The long run is a hero. it is helping me to both goals. My run on Saturday burned 1400+ calories. And thanks to that same run, I need all the stretching and rolling I can get, which helps me to goal number two!
-
Wow! Ceci, that's so fantastic!!!!
-
I've been MIA too!! Work...grrr... Glad to hear you are keeping at it, but sorry to hear you are still unwell. :-(
-
Don't give up. It ill get better. It always sucks for me coming off a lay up. I think though that it's my confidence more than my ability that has failed. :-)
-
Oh, I love this!!! Congrats, Romy!!!

Awesome, Tim! Excellent report. I was holding my breath reading it. :-) I ran most of the course my 1st HM will take yesterday. It's rural and beautiful. I ran 10 miles of it in about 2:00. A good pace for me. I feel confident that I can finish it running. My goal is to finish in no more than 2:45 total. The race is in two…

Reporting in...Week one goals met! Stretching is good. My TDEE is higher than I expected, so my daily target ended up being 1830. That seems like a lot, but I managed to use most of it. ;-) Project maintenance in effect. RAWR!!!
-
I'm in! Goal: Eat at no more than maintenance until my half. That should be about 1700 calories net daily+ exercise calories. And stretch daily! Track: My diary is open. I will log my stretching daily. My reward: A massage! Oh, yeah!
