I need a plan! More hours in the day! How do you do it?
I need a real running plan. I'm making progress, but my "training" has been by the seat of my pants lately. I'm not following a hard and fast plan. My kid's activities have really crunched the time I have to run, and I need at least an hour to accomplish the things I'm wanting to do. Soon going to get even worse! Less…

Finally! My first 5K race!!!!
I just ran my first 5K race today and finished in 36:39:18. I was feeling a little bummed when my best effort only put me ahead of 3 people...and I was dueling with them for that spot! I turned it on in the last 1/4 mile, so much so that I felt like I might vomit at the finish. I've now heard that this was not a typical…

DFL and a Medal...
I ran my second 5K today in the muggy July heat. I matched my PB of 36:39. Yay! Right? Well...I was also DFL. (That is Dead F'in Last.) The ambulance followed me the whole way (see photo of my running team members!). However, in a funny twist of fate, I also medalled! Yes! Second in my age division. Gotta love it :-)!!!

Self sabotage
It seems the more compliments I get or the more concrete successes I have, the more likely I am to screw this up. I recognize in myself a tendency to self sabotage. Sometimes it seems that the more compliments I get, or the further the needle on the scale drops back, the more I want to get whatever food I can get my hands…

Stress fracture?
I do wonder if I might have a stress fracture in the outermost bone of my foot, but it only hurts with a sharp pain when my foot is massaged/pressed/twisted while holding behind my little toe. It does not bother me running. I actually think I had it (whatever it is) before I even started. I just hope it doesn't turn into…

How many calories are you really burning?
I came across a really interesting article on calculating actual calorie burn (and on calorie burn of running vs. walking). I had been wondering if MFP or runtastic took into account that I would be doing something else if I wasn't running. Even if that something was just lounging on the couch just breathing with organs…

Varicose veins :-(
Unfortunately my joy at the tone and muscle in my legs is hindered by my huge rope-y varicose veins. (I know, gross.) I am not talking about little spidery purple veins. These are thick and raised. Anyone have any experience with ablation? Does insurance pay at all? Experience? Bad or good?

This really works!
My weight loss goal is set to 1.5 pounds a week. I was feeling somewhat discouraged because I have these looooong plateaus where no significant loss occurs. Then suddenly one day the needle on the scale will move 2-4 pounds. I'm in one of those plateau phases right now. SO, it was very encouraging to do this little bit of…

How often do you run now that C25K is completed?
How often do you run now that C25K is completed? When is it OK to run more than every other day? I want to run more, but I don't want to hurt myself. I would like to increase to 4-5 days running a week. Is that wise? What did others do?

Anyone dealing (or dealt with) plantar faciitis?
I have had pain in my left heel the past few weeks...pretty sure it's plantar fasciitis. I have almost flat arches so I wear $40 orthotic inserts in my $120 running shoes, but I still wear non-supportive shoes otherwise. Anyone dealing (or dealt with) plantar faciitis? What did you or are you doing?

Is it yo-yo dieting-under one day over the next?
Hmmm....I was just reviewing my past weeks diary...Is it yo-yo dieting if I'm over by 300 calories one day then under by 300 the next etc? At week's end it would net out, but it is not consistent.

Technically I haven't finished C25K...
I want to officially finish my C25K program. I am at week 8, but since I joined a running group the last 3 weeks have taken me 5 weeks to get through. I am pretty consistently running 2.1 miles in about 29 minutes outside on the road, but I just can't get the program finished. It's nagging me. In four more weeks I will run…

Running is so mental! Tips for first 5K...
I have been feeling intimidated as my first 5K race approaches. My #1 concern is not if i will finish...I will. I know that. I just don't want to be dead last. HUGE FEAR. I found a really really great tip tonight that gave me some confidence back. I looked up the order of finish results for last year's race. Guess what???…

Fitted for shoes and I hate them
I was fitted for shoes on Saturday...I think the advice I was given was good. I have moderate to severe overpronation and almost flat feet so the fit person at the run specialty shop put me in Asics GT3000's with arch support orthotics. The problem is that before I didn't feel my shoes or notice them...but now my feet feel…

A hard time with week 4 of C25K
I was doing great. Although I could barely make it through the minute runs when I started, I progressed well and was on track until week 4. I have tried twice and I can't get through Week 4 Day 2. Should I re-do week three? Or keep repeating Week 4 Day 2 until I get it? I have noticed that the Running Revolution group…
