Liked your topic. Welcome and good luck. I don't get on the site often anymore, but it really helps me to see where I am spending calories - like the time I decided to "snack" for dinner and ended up eating 800+ calories! I have been taking it very slow, I think that is best for me. Again, good luck!

OMG, fiber 1 cereal is the worst! I have IBS and almost any fiber gives me gas. I should buy stock in Beano. Something that also helps is probiotics, I get the cheap ones from Walgreens when they have their buy one get one free sales. Just bought some this week, actually. Good luck. :-)

Remember, trying and not succeeding is not failing! I am glad you are back. I stopped posting for a while and don't post my meals every day but find that it helps me realize what I am eating and what it costs me. I am trying a new method - eating well, but once a day having something I really LIKE. Just a smaller portion…

Hi, great progress so far! I have been working at it but losing slower than you. Great job!

On the top menu, where you choose Community, you can click "Invite Friends". When someone sends you a friend request, it will display below the blue bars in red (same place it says you have mail). Just click on that to see who has requested and there will be a button to push. Hope you can access those friends soon!

Understand completely. I do well for a couple of days or even a week, then I go "off the wagon". Big time last night - boyfriend bought M&Ms - but I was the one that brought the bag over to the couch. :embarassed: Had even done strength training with a trainer. Want to have more strength with food! Good way to look at it,…

Welcome! And congrats on getting into medical school, that is quite an accomplishment! Be nice to yourself, follow the program, and the weight will come off. I keep "dropping out" and not logging, it is important even if you ate stuff that is high calorie - it lets me know what that dessert or snacking cost me! You may…

I don't know, but if you put your issue out on the Technical Support / Need Help forum, they usually answer pretty quickly.

I like oldies, I bought the "Sweating to the Oldies" DVDs but haven't cracked them yet - plan to this weekend. Also, hip hop and salsa/ spanish station music is very good- I can barely sit still when I turn to that station. I also like it to "practice" listening to spanish. Great idea! Have fun!

Take a shower, make my hair look nice, call a friend to complain - and then laugh about something. Or call to meet for coffee, lunch, somewhere healthy. Run errands. Anything to get my mind off of it!! Take a walk, walks are very helpful to me. I forget that! Maybe I will walk today. Good luck, if you have no one to call,…

My goal is 45 minutes of exercise 5 to 6 days a week. I have some knee challenges, so I usually use my recumbent bike. I usually don't make the 5 to 6 days a week but if I do, I see a difference in the scale. I want to get into some weight lifting again (used Body for Life (can I say that?), and am using a couple of videos…

I had the older shots some time ago and then the new (3 instead of 5) a couple of years ago. They both worked for me, but I didn't get the relief right away - was disappointed when finishing the series, but it kicked in later. The shots helped so that I could work out more and strengthen them. Also, I have found that…

I really have trouble with snacking also. I keep saying I am going to eat veggies when that happens, but they are borrriiinnng. Had a broccoli salad the other day that was great - broccoli, raisins and a little walnuts, in coleslaw dressing. It may not be 100% veggies but may be it will help me as a snack. Soup is also…

Soup! I find if I eat soup and a sandwich I feel full for a long time! Or beans. And I use Walden Farms Mayo, which is supposed to be zero calorie (don't know how they do that). It's not great, but it gives a sandwich more moisture and squish... :-)

Sounds good, I will have to try it. I eat oatmeal most days - did you know that if you just heat the water, mix it and COVER the bowl or cup, even the whole oats cooks in just about 3 minutes. My niece told me about this. It is very handy especially when you have access to a hot water dispenser! Here's another recipe -…

Hi, I agree with Molina. I find if I restrict too much, I just get hungry and pig out. I recently read and tried the "I" diet, AKA the Instinct Diet. It has very high fiber food plans - I was rarely hungry and ate frequently. I am planning on returning to the recipes at least. My progress has been slow but sure, I need it…

I have found some of MFP's calorie burn amounts to be much higher than my exercise bike... I usually go with the lower one, so that I underestimate... Not much advice, just a comment. Good luck!

Watch it closely, quick weight gain can be due to heart problems also. http://heartdisease.about.com/cs/symptoms/p/syweightgain.htm Great job on running the marathon! Hope it clears up for you.

ouch! deep frying! How about spraying them with oil and baking them?

Same here! You'll probably get lots of responses. I'm in Florida, a big difference! Friend me if you like, won't be hurt otherwise! My process has been slow but sure. A little slower lately, but revving up that exercise horse... :-) Good luck and Happy New Year!

Try planks - like push ups without the up and down, but on your elbows. I was just looking at Utube to see some MFP people's videos, one recommended a 2 minute abs workout, when I searched on it, I found one that said "no crunch ab workout". I also have a back issue - I found that I can do crunches laying on the couch, and…

I've never heard it called that - just googled it, ha, dun lap over your jeans :-). I just call it my stomach pooch, recently heard kangaroo pouch. I haven't had kids either, but I recently started menopause, had a stressful month at work and gained 20 lbs, I think all of it in my stomach! I'm hoping I can reduce it with…

I don't use Basmati rice, but have found a rice cooker to be wonderful! Easy and only one pan to clean. Recently got a mini rice cooker - makes 3 cups. Black and Decker. I use it for brown rice, need to put a little less rice and a little more water. Once it clicks off as done, let it sit for a little while on warm. I have…

I have found links in this posting very helpful - on includes eating your calories and metabolism. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/23912-links-in-mfp-you-want-to-read-again-and-again

Yuck! I went to buy an exercise ball and decided on the 8 lb one since I have lost 7. I carried that all around the store. Really heavy! I am going to use it as a reminder. My knees feel better already, too!

No baking powder? Sounds very good.

I had trouble at first, but started eating more for breakfast, having a couple of snacks between lunch and dinner (eat late) and even having dessert sometimes. Nuts are good, but be careful to watch the portion size - if I don't pre-bag, I will end up eating too many. I am losing slow but sure. Good luck.

I find that this site is great for getting me "back on the wagon". Why not try one thing at a time - add some exercise back in - a good thing for your stress. I have a stationary bike and can read while doing it, though mostly do it while watching TV. They say even 10 minutes at a time can help. I haven't lost much, 7 lbs…
