Nice bike Joelann. How long have you had it?

Came across a recent post in an overland/adventure riding blog. Enjoy. http://adventure-motorcycling.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/basic-aerobic-training-for-adventure.html

Oh man. The Gran Canyon with the Ducati engine is the hidden secret of Adventure Bikes. You have a Cagiva and a restored Norton? Will you adopt me or at least move in next door?

Not sure which part of that is the most awesome! Extra grats on getting into the jacket.

That poor bike. Ridden hard and put up wet. Gas and oil changes are the only regular maintenance. That's a good thing since it's removing 14 screws to get to the battery! The BMW Motorrad have designed some amazing things, but someone should hire a mechanic to go over the plans before they are finished.

Icon is an entry level gear brand owned by Parts Unlimited. There are quite a few folks who think they spend more on marketing than they do on manufacturing. There's a reason your local shop is only carrying Icon. The stuff sells. Stocking gear is really really expensive for shops and with the current economic situation…

Cleaned out most of the stable over the last couple of years but couldn't part with these: 2001 Bonneville 2001 F650GS - Dakar (my daily bike) (this is an older pic but one of my fav's)

Got about 600 miles in this past weekend with about 400 of that in rain. Ended up getting a hotel Sat night. Rain, Cold, Dark; any of those are fine. All three together is a bit of a risk for little return. Hopefully the boots dry by tonight!

Well, I give up. I'll try to figure it out later and post then. :-( Darn photobucket.

I used to have a workout partner who made us all kinds of playlists. She was amazing and really showed me a lot of new music as well as kept me going in the gym. The only thing you have to watch out for is as we got to know each other she...we I guess she got comfortable enough to talk kinda kinky. It was really funny and…

The best thing to buy for your bike is gas. -Ned Suesse

I can't swear to the macro balance you requested, but here are some things to get you going: http://www.cnpp.usda.gov/Publications/MyPyramid/print%20materials/MyPyramidSampleMenu.pdf http://www.fns.usda.gov/eatsmartplayhardhealthylifestyle/quickandeasy/Menus/Week1_samplemenu1.htm…

I feel you. I'm a 6'0 36 year old guy I spent about 5 years eating 1000-1200 calories a day. Didn't really set me up for much success in the healthy weight/fat/lifestyle arena. When I first joined up here I made a post with my stats kinda like you did. Another user pointed out that she was a woman in her 40s who ate a lot…

Are there some posts and trends lacking the traits of polite society, sure. However, the signal to noise ratio for MFP is still outstanding. We have lots of folks to thank for that. If you feel that there's too much negativity, then join in the conversation and provide positive support. Each of us can do this without…

That's awesome. Today I was kinda zoning out and suddenly a wave of cheering and clapping swept the gym. I kinda come to and ask the guy walking past me what just happened. One of the members (who came to the gym after her second heart attack and newly diagnosed diabetes) had hit her weight and BF% goal and the whole gym…

A friend of mine raced Dakar in 2012. I'll send him an email and ask what his fitness routine was. A lot of things I would expect are core strengthening, squats for quad/ham strength and endurance, general cardio endurance, and shoulder work. It'll be interesting to see just what he did (other than TONS of prep riding). I…

I'm over near Knoxvegas. Gotta love all the places we can get to in just a day ride!

Good deal. Better health = longer rides and feeling better while you are out there.

Really bugs me that they refuse to share their nutrition info: However someone has entered a good bit of their menu into MFP: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/nutrition-facts-calories/pappadeauxs Good luck!

A lot of this discussion depends on what you are actually comparing. Are you looking at whole diet, single meal, portion. It also depends on where your diet is and where it's going. For me personally, my goal is almost 2x the calorie intake as before so my food cost is going to go up regardless of most any other variable.…

I live in the Appalachian foothills and it is certainly more expensive here to eat quality fresh fruits and veg than the "canned in syrup" equivalent. It's even more significant when you compare it against frozen dinners, fatty cuts of meat, and boxed carbs.

I started by googling "Personal Trainer {Name of the town}" and read reviews, compared certifications, etc. Once I narrowed the field down to 5-6, I picked up the phone and started calling each of them and set a time to meet them in their gyms and/or studios for a meet and greet. I decided I wanted to go with one tied to a…

Dayum, Taso! Everything about that is awesome, except for maybe those socks. :-P

Grats on the 15lbs you've already lost. I hope diary tracking will help you get to your goal! I've been finding a wealth of information here and it really helps to be thinking about healthy eating all the time instead of only after I eat something I might not should have. There are so many really experienced folks here…

How so? Perhaps explaining the dangers and why it's forbidden would be better?
