Yes, several people at my box just use a plain old small spiral notebook. Nothing fancy. (I'm an app user myself).

Deadlifts are all about lower back!!

I am 100% the same way. I've been doing CF for a year and absolutely LOVE IT. I still look forward to the workouts every week and look at it more as play time than an actual workout. A few weeks ago was the first time I'd been less than twice a week and it about killed me!

Agree. It's the same misinformation over and over again. I guess ignorance is bliss.

I've had a lot of luck with Old Navy's compression pants and sports bras. I like them alot and they offer good support for a busty gal.

Thanks guys! After the end of the first day, he sits in 5th place. I can't wait to see him compete today!

2nd place after events 2 and 3! Woohoo!

With my arthritis, bending my knee AT ALL would hurt my knees. Even now, I can get below parallel, but I still do not have full range of motion in my knee. Also, with the arthritis came grinding in my knees and bone spurs which also affect any bending of the knee, so even the most perfect form on a squat will cause pain in…

I have had osteoarthritis in both my knees for many years - the only thing that has helped me is sticking with Crossfit. Before I started Crossfit about a year ago, my knees hurt all day, everyday. They were swollen constantly and I usually ended up icing them at the end of every day because of the pain. When I started…

Excellent. You look so solid at the top of the thruster!

I go at 6am and find that I need a banana or half a larabar if I've eaten really low calories or low carb the day before. If I've eaten enough calories and a decent amount of carbs at dinner the previous day, I can forgo anything before the WOD and just do the protein shake right after and a real breakfast once I get to…

2008. I weighed roughly 210 lbs and finished in 2:53.

Totally agree with this article 110%. Love it.

My last CFT was: squat: 205 lb ohp: 100 lb dl: 275 lb Total: 580 lb I've been doing CF for 10 months.

Welcome! I echo everything that's already been said but mostly 1) Ease into it, don't go too hard too fast or you will be more likely to injure yourself. 2) You will be pretty sore for the first 2 week - month depending on your fitness level - stick with it! 3) Form/technique or weight all day, every day. 4) Enjoy every…

Welcome! I love how CF gives you such a sense of accomplishment and badassness :)

Yes, our box does 2 every week, like yours. Snatch Saturday and Clean & Jerk Sunday. I am planning on starting those classes in the next few weeks :)

^^ At our box, we would call you a 'fire breather' for scaling up a WOD :) Nice work!

Welcome! You sound just like me when I talk to others about CrossFit. I LOVE IT and enjoy getting out there every day and pushing my body to its limits. It has seriously changed my life! Love your avatar!

Hi! My first reaction was to say it was water weight, but when you mentioned being super hungry in the middle of the night it led me to believe you aren't eating enough. Try adding more protein to each meal - 60 g seems low. The most widely accepted standard is 1 g per lb of body weight, so you would need at least 110 g a…

Thinking about starting this. I workout MWF 6am and some running on Saturday. I'm thinking I'm going to do BCAAs before and after my workouts and then eat from 11am-7pm.

I don't track CrossFit calories explicitly. When I had my RMR tested, the operator told me that my consistent exercise (CF 3x/week) would already be taken into account in the value it returned (so 2150 calories for maintenance includes the calories burned at CF 3x/week). I just subtract 500/day from my RMR (a little more…

I Crossfit, do zone/Paleo and also count calories. I eat around 1600-1700 calories a day regardless of if it's a workout day or not, but that's because I had my RMR tested and it was 2150 cals (wrecked from many years of low calorie dieting and a 'reset' didn't work). So yeah, eating as much as some of the others here say…

Nice!

FYI: My daughter is almost two now, but I was obese when I got pregnant (250 lbs). I only gained 30 lbs with her, just trying to make the best choices possible while pregnant, and I was within 5 lbs of pre-pregnancy weight by 2 weeks post partum, so don't get discouraged. I believe that if you eat reasonably while…

I just did this workout this morning and it took me 29:23!! The thrusters got heavy FAST and I was doing them in sets of 2-3 ugh! I just tried to keep moving on the burpees because I knew the thrusters were going to own me. TOUGH WORKOUT!!!!

Ooh, I've never done DT, but it does look fun.

Anything with heavy lifting (like Grace), situps, kbs, rowing, burpees. Seems like I can go for days on these things - the body weight exercises are my goats (since I'm overweight lol).
