Late night snacks are fine if they are within your calorie budget.

I am pretty sure there is no such word as 'unproportionate'. 'Disproportionate' is a real word, however, in this context, I think you should have said ' out of proportion'. - Helpful grammar cat :)

Best Answer Award to dammitjane.....

I used to be obsessed with breakfast. As soon as I got out of bed, I was straight to the kitchen for a boiled egg and toast, with a cup of tea of course. It was the most enjoyable meal of the day, always the same and always a pleasure, and always hungry by mid-morning. Then I gave the 5:2 diet a shot and start skipping…

Don't up your calories unless you want to start putting the weight back on. Try not to think of it as being stuck, but just taking some time to get used to your new leaner body. Call it maintaining for a while and then when you are mentally ready go for another push. Also, don't count on exercise to help with weight loss.…

Thanks everyone. I don't normally calculate calories burned (mainly because I don't often 'exercise') but was very curious to know the answer as it had been playing on my mind since I joined a gym and the machines give a value! I like to call them ' the machines' and interestingly the very nice young woman who provided my…

It is a similar concept to the 5:2 diet. With 5:2 you eat normally 5 days and fast for 2. At the end of the week you should be in calorie deficit. It has worked beautifully for me. I eat all the things I like but as long as I stay under the calorie max overall I still lose weight. Dr Michael Mosley believes that this style…

I would use the higher figure so that your calorie balance is in credit :) :) :) Bonus

Hi Steve, To get advice you are probably going to have to log your food in your diary and open it for public viewing. :)

You probably just need to be a little more patient. Looking at your ticker...... 9lbs is only 5% of your starting weight, so I guess it's not going to show just yet. I imagine that exercise would help more with the inches, but not really an expert in that field. Hang on in there and you will see results. Good luck :)

Maybe stop listening to people who still haven't grasped the concept that in order to lose weight your calorie intake must be lower than your calorie output. Exercising (whilst offering other health benefits) is unlikely to aid weight loss to any significant degree. If you like exercising, then great, go for it. However,…

Soup! The healthiest and most filling meal you could probably put on the table. :)

I really sympathise. I have often had a good, sensible day then somehow ended up with a snack or treat just before bedtime and wake up in the morning hating myself. I wish I knew what to say to help you dredge up that willpower not to do it. Maybe some kind of routine change, are you eating at a particular time? I always…

And this ^^ :)

Well, yes, over the last 20 years I have tried losing weight without counting caloires.......none of them worked. I know lots of people who have tried other systems with varied success however none of them ever kept the weight off longterm and when they put it back they put on even more. I would say that I have had 2 long…

Hi, I have lost 24lbs over the last 18 months loosely based on the 5:2 diet. I am hoping to lose another 7lbs but I'm not in any great rush about it. Add me if you like.

I wouldn't normally suggest medical assistance, however, maybe you should consider getting some hormones via contraception. They changed my life....no periods for the last 5 years....it's fabulous.

Whoop, whoop.....you are amazing! :)

Go out into the sunlight and don't use sunblock.

Of course, you can experiment with the database because anything you record can be deleted or amended. So just keep searching and add all the possibilities to your diary, then delete the items you decide are inappropriate or inaccurate. I do this sometimes before I have decided what to eat/cook and adjust my meals to be…

If you are using MFP's database to calculate the calories you will probably find that you can specify if the food is raw or cooked. So if you thaw, then weigh, then type in 'Generic - raw chicken', you should get the correct calories.

It will take approximately one year to get used to tea without any sugar or sweetener but once you have achieved that you will never like tea with sugar in it again. I use Splenda in coffee because I believe that Splenda does not contain Aspartame - I now stand back and await the torrent of abuse if this information is…

You really can lose weight without exercising. I admit that I am quite a busy active person but I do spend a lot of time driving or sat at my computer. I have lost almost 2 stones without doing any exercise over and above my daily activity. It's all about counting those darned little calories. Make it your hobby to learn…

You might want to add some green stuff into your diet though and maybe have the odd apple instead of banana to make your diet more balanced. I reckon the crackers and cheese are worse than the potatoes, if you want something to worry about. And Gatorade never did anyone any good. Good luck :)

Potatoes 3 to 4 times a week is absolutely fine. Everything in moderation .... you've got it!

It's only a few glasses of water....why do you all take everything so seriously? I am not 'promoting' anything other than my sense of humour.....a lot of the guys on here could do with getting one and maybe it would be a happier and more appropriately-hydrated world for us all to live in. (Feeling the love!)
-
But the actual point is that you get a lot of your 'required' water intake from the foods you eat and the other drinks you would have anyway....drinking an additional 8 glasses of water may be excessive! I do apologise for using the word 'proof'....I had no idea my sense of humour would cause such an avalanche of bitter…
