I didn't see this posted in the other replies: Get a crockpot and crockpot recipes are on-line. The crockpots aren't expensive if you want a new one and if you aren't picky, check your local thrift store. The recipes use natural ingredients, you can fill it up the night before, start it in the morning and it'll be ready…

Okay, I'm spoiled. I'm married to an Italian from the East Coast and HE COOKS...both dinner AND desserts. I just choose what I will eat for my portions...and make my own plate. There are concessions made....I LOVE TUBESTEAKS (hotdogs to others) and I just have him purchase the 45 calorie 97% Fat Free Hebrew Nationals on…

I don't take these and have no personal experience with them; however, that said, 2 of the girls where I work see a Doctor who prescribes the first one and each has had success and kept the weight off for a long period- together with the carb & protein recommendations that they must follow and lifestyle & food choice…

Never been a problem for me - didn't like the taste, couldn't see the sense in having to learn to like the taste and decided on a hard and fast rule, don't drink anything that is the same color going in as it is coming out (in it's various forms). Feels like it is just being rented. Also, have MANY other vices to $pend the…

I went to a nutritionist too for guidance and she said that I could use my exercise calories to manage my food intake. She said that what she didn't want to happen was for my body to get used to just a specific calorie intake...that wouldn't lend itself to weight loss. Meaning, some days I eat some calories back and some…

I developed a thyroid condition that went undiagnosed for some time...until I complained of joint symptoms I was being told my weight gain was due to menopause. Wrong answer for someone who was career military and never had a weight issue. At any rate, I worked with a nutritionist who turned me on to MFP. She has me on…

Gonna give these a try...mostly because they have my 2 FAV ingredients in them - Sweet Potato and Avocado! Thanks for the recipe!

Thanks for that response...I was going to respond to that post myself as I believe my mother's words said it best regarding that comment, "if you can't say something nice (or helpful), don't say (post) anything at all" I ditto the others comments and would recommend a referral to a nutritionist as it helped me quite a bit…

I have been using MFP for the past 4 months, as of today. Gained weight over the past 10 years due to a medical condition that was only diagnosed and treated in the last 2 years. Was used to being skinny without worry, size 1 until I had kids in my 30's and size 6 thereafter until I hit 50. My mantra is that I don't deny…

Husband works out religiously. Morning exercise includes sit ups, push ups and 2-5 mile run. Just had 2 different fairly large tats on his abdomen (either side of rib cage) and it didn't affect his morning routine whatsoever. Guess it all depends on how you feel.

I track it for much the same reasons as everyone else. Also, tracking let's me know how many calories/etc. I have available to "spend." I treat it just like money, if I don't have it, I don't spend it. If I do expect to overindulge, I do the exercise to compensate. I've even come home, logged, and found I was over, so out…

Okay, my first thought is to say that I LOVE MY DIET CHERRY COKE! (repeating this often and loudly is necessary). I weaned myself off Classic Coke years ago to Diet Coke, then to Diet Cherry Coke. Now I only drink Diet Coke or Diet Cherry Coke with those foods that "just go better with Coke." Like, pizza and hamburgers.…

My thoughts exactly. I visited a nutritionist who helped me evaluate my TDEE - Total Daily Expended Energy - and then she set my calories and my carbs, etc. in MFP...she turned me on to MFP. I eat the same things I ate before though with the accountability to MYSELF in MFP, I know where I'm at all the time. Now, with that…

Caprese salad followed by 1/2 10" Oven Fired Margarita Pizza...Yum - Dinner out with my Guys!

Pampered Chef makes a stone called the Small Ridged Baker. I went to a PC Party and saw it used in a recipe and have been using it ever since...even bought one for my kitchen challenged son for college. What I do is purchase the boneless, skinless chicken strips or small breasts, though thighs will do too. When I get it…

Mine are in their 20's now. We were a 2 career Navy couple (both retired now) and MOM (me) was always the one being deployed. To digress a bit, I have a sign on my wall with a mirror over it and the sign reads, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, I AM my Mother, after all!" I adopted those lessons learned from my Mom that were…

If you plan on eating "healthy" the rest of your life, that's fine. My grave marker/bench in a park will not say "She ate healthy!" Unless you are growing everything that you eat and making everything that you eat from scratch, all of us eat fast food, whether it is a pre-made tortilla that we use with our own ingredients,…

The whole reason I am working to lose weight is as a result of a diagnosis of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis-an autoimmune condition that CAN occur to women going through menopause. When I turned 50, I, (who was size 1 until I was 30, then married, had kids, and then was size 6) started menopause. I gained 15-20 pounds each year…

I'm doing this same thing and it works for me. For example, I LOVE Tube Steaks...or hotdogs as those who weren't raised having to have your evening meal between hockey periods in the winter months would say. I don't eat the 260 calorie hotdogs with 200 calorie stadium buns that my hubby does. I have the Sara Lee 80 calorie…

I eat more chicken at home and save the shrimp (most of the time) for meals out. I find it helps me stay within my calories and I look forward to having it instead of "I just had that at home!"

I just go with what I like, fitting it in to the calorie intake as stated previously by others. I'm the sort that needs to chew...I could eat a large bowl of chocolate pudding and not feel satisfied; however, 2 Tbsp of Jolly Time Popcorn in a brown bag, popped, nothing added, is 110 calories and lots of pleasure to chew! I…

I am the same height, though not the same weight (or age)...your 126 is about my goal weight! HA! At any rate, I consulted a nutritionist to help address the weight I gained from a diagnosis of Hashimoto's Thyroiditis...no thyroid=no metabolism. She put me at 1520 calories per day and adjusted my carbs as well. She is the…

Ditto. I eat the same foods, just make the portions fit my target calories and look for better choices in those items. For example, I was raised on "tube steaks." Yep, you heard it here, HOTDOGS! I love 'em and eat them ALL the time. Only, now, instead of the 260 calorie ones my hubby eats with the 120 calorie bun, I eat…

I purposefully do extra exercise EVERY FRIDAY so that I can have EXTRA Pizza. Married to NY/NJ Italian who loves his pizza and I have EVERYTHING he has, just in moderation. I know that I can have 2-3 pieces of Little Caeser's Hot-N-Now Cheese Pizza using up 750 of my calories on a Friday night. Most of the time, I eat 1 or…

Eat something that has few calories/carbs, like a salad with a few roasted sunflower seeds and a few craisins. Even with 1 TBSP Ranch dressing, it doesn't amount to much, will satisfy your hunger and your urge to "chew something." Eat slowly and enjoy every bite. It takes 15 minutes for our stomaches to feel ful and half…
