After week 1, I've maintained. Have not gained any, but also haven't lost. It's been COLD, snowy, and really easy to just curl up in front of the fireplace this week.

Week 1: 16 miles walking Need to kick it in gear.

February 1 Beginning weight (seven years ago): 197 Current weight: 155.2 Goal weight: 135ish It's not so much a set number, but I would like to be "around 135" not between 155-160 like I've been for the last couple of months. When I initially lost the weight, I lost right at 70 pounds......as you can see, I've gained back…

My "go-to" breakfast is oatmeal. Hot in the winter, and refrigerator oats (with yogurt/blueberries/sugar-free vanilla syrup) in the spring/summer. I started eating oatmeal (and breakfast in general) when I began my weight loss journey nearly seven years ago. Kaye

For me, I only "count" walking which is intentional when I log it as exercise. However, (before I lost it), I wore my FitBit all the time, as my goal was 10,000+ steps a day. Walking has really been the only exercise I have done during this journey. Kaye

I'm in for at least 75! Kaye

Maybe I need this kind of motivation......just hovering, and not losing right now. I'm in!

Keep doing what you are doing, but keep her (and the litter box) in a room where you can shut her up so she isn't going on the carpet or furniture (laundry room, bathroom, etc.). Otherwise, once the 'scent' is there, she may continue to use the carpets, etc. as she doesn't know that it isn't OK. Good luck. Kaye

First of all, my sympathies for your loss. I agree with those who have posted that perhaps the best place to look would be to a counselor. It could be a grief "group" of some sort if you feel that private counseling would be too difficult. I have a cousin who lost their 21-year-old "healthy" daughter after a routine…

The best piece of advice I can give is to not keep the foods you binge on in the house. Easy for me, as I am a widower whose children are all away from home, but I realize that might not be as easy for a lot of you with families. Maybe keep those foods in the garage, so it's a trek to get them, and that gives you thinking…

Go to the message boards, and read the links under getting started. That will help you figure out how the site works. The links that are "locked" have been put up there by the MFP staff, and they will help answer a lot of what you are asking. You don't have all that much to lose, so losing 3.5 pounds by the end of February…

Hi, Don't deprive yourself of an evening snack, just keep it healthy and within your total calorie count for the day. When I saw a dietician several years ago, she actually encouraged me to eat a snack before bed. I used fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, etc. as my snacks. I try NOT to keep sweets, etc. in my house, because…

You can't have it both ways. You stated that your fiancé is the only one that you can discuss this with, and then you say you want him to leave it be and let you do what you are doing. IMO, he is trying to be supportive, and I can tell you first hand, that getting some form of exercise, even if it's "only" walking, will…

I usually eat oatmeal -- sometimes with brown sugar and cinnamon, sometimes with sugar-free syrup, sometimes with sugar-free Coffeemate (my favorite way), and (in the summer) with Greek yogurt as overnight oatmeal. I didn't eat breakfast until after I saw a nutritionist several years ago. That was one of her BIGGIES. :-)…

My favorite way is to add some frozen blueberries and a couple of tablespoons of sugar-free Vanilla Syrup (Skinny Girl or Torani brands) when I stir in the yogurt and let sit overnight. My 'go-to' breakfast in the summer. Kaye

I tried the Pacer app, but it was not accurate AT ALL......only said I had taken 1100 steps when I had just completed a 3-mile walk. Kaye

A spice cake mix, and a can of pumpkin (not pie filling, but canned pumpkin) make a delicious, moist "fall" cake. I usually use a cream cheese frosting. And cupcakes to share at work are a great solution to having to store leftovers. Kaye

I didn't do that....but I definitely got rid of the 'big' clothes. Never want to fit into them again! Kaye

Walking.....basically the only exercise I have done during my weight loss. Costs very little (good shoes are important) and getting outside can be a great mood booster. I also invested in a used treadmill. In order to motivate myself to use it when I first bought it, I recorded my favorite soap opera. If I hadn't already…

YEP.....get rid of them!!!! Have that be your motivation to NOT gain weight back. You've invested the money in the new clothes! Kaye

if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I don't know if you have any recourse, but you could contact your local Better Business Bureau. Kaye

Why change what seems to be working for you?

When I began my weight loss journey (and yes, I call it that because it takes/took a long time), it was because my doctor was concerned about my elevated blood sugar. I don't remember the specific number, but he was concerned enough to test it two months later, and then he sent me to a dietician. She told me these…

i know altitude can affect you, and that when at higher altitudes, you do need to drink more water. I always thought it was more to ward off headaches that can accompany altitude sickness though. I usually drink 6-8 more glasses of water than usual when I am in the mountains. Kaye

Hi, I lost all of my weight AFTER I had been on generic Synthroid for about five years. My doctor has not adjusted the dosage since my weight loss, but I do know I'll be taking it the rest of my life. It is hard to maintain my weight.....and I need to work on doing a better job at tracking my calories and exercise. Got…

Yes, you can lose weight with hypothyroidism.....don't use it as an excuse. Be sure to visit with your doctor and make sure you are taking the correct dosage of medication. I've been taking generic synthroid for close to 10 years. When I made my mind up seven years ago to lose weight and get healthy -- well, I guess my…
