From a diet mechanics standpoint, if you aren't doing it already, I'd suggest measuring/weighing food. It drives my wife up a wall with all the tablespoons and measuring cups, but it really helped me to see what proper portions look like. And I don't think it's a problem if you have to spend time tweaking or dialing things…

Honestly, these are the only kind of events that sound fun. There are people at my work who do them, and they train pretty hard, so it's not something I'm looking to do next week or anything. I'm pretty new to MFP, but not that new to logging. I think that finally, FINALLY, it has sunk in what "lifestyle change" means. When you see so many fit people who are still at it, logging what they eat, it helps to sink in that you really need to have consistent effort AND pay consistent attention.

I definitely recommend logging what you eat, no matter what. Not to beat yourself up, just to keep yourself on track. I find I definitely limit myself more when I'm logging; I figure that if I splurge less, it's still good to do. Also, I think emotional eating is about filling emotional needs.
