Great work and excellent use of your accountability! I teach Insanity in group fitness and have done it at home prior to teaching. I'm happy to help you in your journey with that. The home fitness DVDs don't show modifications, but as an instructor, I do show modifications. I'm happy to share videos with you if you need to…

^^^This would be your NET calorie consumption. However, your NET calories should never fall below 1200 calories per day. NET = Calories consumed - calories burned Therefore, 1550 calories consumed - 350 calories burned = 1200 calories NET You need to eat more, at least 1550 calories per day if your daily deficit goal is…

Fantastic! It is amazing what happens when we get out of our own way.

I started out somewhere over 200 lbs (refused to get on the scale but I was 196 when I got brave enough, after starting to lose weight). I am now 155 lbs. I am 5'8".

^^^THIS^^^ Plus, if you have been eating under your RMR for a while, and under 1200 calories, you have put your metabolism to sleep. 1) Eat a hearty breakfast EVERY day. By hearty, 500-600 calories, consisting of a good balance of complex carbs, lean protein, and healthy fats. 2) Eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day, not…

Spinning is riding a bike. It is intended to simulate outdoor races. It is so much more than just riding a bike really fast. Indoor bikes have tension gears. The tension is adjusted throughout the ride which simulates riding up hills and across terrain. The workout changes as the tension, cyclists position on the bike, and…

The bruised feeling is caused by too much bounce, most likely during sprints, and is NOT (or should not) NORMAL. Add a little gear, just enough to take out the bounce. What is normal for beginnings is muscle soreness. This is quite different from "bruised." One knows the difference once experienced. I am a spin instructor.…

That was quite the feat! You will undoubtedly meet your next goal, too!! Keep up the great work!!

^^^^Perfectly said. The writer of the starting article should have stated cardio + calorie restrictive diets = muscle loss. Cardio AND weight lifting is a MUST for anyone looking for better overall health. If anyone thinks weightlifting is boring, you aren't doing it right (if you've done it at all).

The only TV I watch during the week is when I'm doing a workout DVD. I do get in some time on the weekend to watch what is recorded on the DVR. Even then, I'm usually doing something else at the same time, like laundry, cleaning, couponing, planning, paying bills, etc. Rarely ever do I sit and watch television without…

Tony Horton's 10 Minute Trainer. It is a total body workout in 10 minutes. You can do up to three times a day, fitting it in whenever you have the 10 minutes to spare. Insanity is also excellent and does not require equipment. However, if you are not currently active, it is EXTREMELY difficult to do. I was fit when I…

You can use tinypic.com without creating an account....FYI. You just have to change the IMG to img in the code.
-
^this^ It is total body using barbell weights. You can add muscle using it by adding weights. It is also cardio because it is fast paced & high rep.
-
Not true. Natural born sugars and carbs are actually good for the body.
-
You found your answer. If your source of carbs/sugars is coming primarily from fresh produce, don't worry about going over. Your body metabolizes those and they won't be left behind as fat.

EXCELLENT and THANK YOU!!! I preach this, too, & explain it often!

Anyone here can add me as well.

I am an accountant for a major oil & gas company.

Kudos for being on here & maintaining! Running or even working a cash register at a bakery would be the death of me! Baked goods are my weakness!!

I have been eating clean about 70-80% of the time for about a year now. However, the 20-30% I don't has kept me from my goals. I started tightening things up this week. I'm starting a 30-day Eat Clean Challenge for people who want to clean up their diets or simply want more support. Anyone who wants in is welcome to…

She should be your first source of advice! She is an expert. You will get all kinds of uneducated advice here.

Yes, you are putting your body into starvation mode. Your 5 week plateau is your sign. If you are burning approx 1200 cals per day just with exercise alone, you should be consuming a minimum of 2400 cal per day. Depending on your weight, resting heart rate, etc., you burn 1600-2000 cal per day just being alive, WITHOUT…

Tony Horton (P90X trainer) also has 10-Minute Trainer. The workouts are total body and only 10 minutes in length. The concept is to do them 3x a day, fitting them in when you have 10 minutes. This would be a good precursor to P90X, when you are ready for it. Insanity cannot be compared to Hip Hop Abs, even though it is the…

The 1200 calories is your NET. This means Calories consumed - Calories burned = 1200. For example, if you eat 1800 calories and burn 600 calories, your net will be 1200. This is what you want. Your instinct is correct. You should eat more than 1200 calories in a day when you exercise.

I am in exactly the same place as you! Let's support each other! Anyone is welcome to add me as a pal!

I have so much more energy when I eat clean. I, too, believe the food tastes so much better and like the fact I can eat more food than when I eat the processed junk. I'm starting a 30 day challenge for anyone looking to tighten up their clean eating. Message me if you're interested.
