I have problems every day wanting to just give it all up and eat whatever and whenever I want! I try to log my food each day. it makes me accountable. if not, I am just living in oblivion and in denial about how many calories I am actually eating. I try to NOT bring foods into my house that will cause me to fail. high…

http://gardein.com/products/chickn-strips-cubes/ high protein, low calorie, lowish sodium. may take some time to find a place that sells this, you may have to ask a store to order it for you. also, an easy recipe for making your own sandwich slices- http://vegandad.blogspot.com/2008/06/veggie-lunch-meat.html not sure why…

can I interrupt to ask how long or how much you guys are doing to get in over 20k per day? I only ask because I feel like I am getting a lot of walking in- 2x 45 minute walks only amounts to a daily total of about 15k... how much longer are you guys walking or do you have really active jobs that have you on your feet all…

I really appreciate that this is getting more attention and talked about- I grew up in a very food-obsessed house- compulsive overeater for one parent the other parent was a committed 'healthy' eater trying to compensate or 'fix' the other parent. this produced kids who were anorexic bulimic vegan fitness-obsessed…

i am so sorry for what you have lost, and that your daughter is not with you now. what a horrible, horrible tragedy. I would urge you to seek out a support group thru a local hospital, or ask hospice, or call anyone who may be able to refer you to a counselor that specializes in grief. you need support and guidance *right…

ok thanks everyone for the replies! woops, I meant tdee, not tdd... must be the scorching heat affecting my brain... so, it sounds like I can up it by about 100 cals and see what happens. I do have that window of about 3lbs that I see a fluctuation with. I guess i'd like to keep this current weight but maybe eventually…

wow, thanks for all of the feedback... the one seems to be where i am leaning, in basic black... i need to save some pennies first. i'll prob. clip it to the inside of my pocket or maybe the inside of my bra, if you really can't see the thing thru clothing. i feel self-conscious because i am a server at a restaurant, and…

thanks so much for everyone's input... :) i will probably end up with the clip on, not the bracelet. looking at a lot of google images of the bracelet, it just looks too much like a calorie counter for my personal use. i looked at other bracelet-style brands, and its the same thing... just is too obvious for me and my job.…

its one of those ingredients that has a special somethin' somethin'... kinda like an umami flavor, its hard to describe. it is a yeast that is grown on molasses. it's a great source of protein and for vegans, as well as vitamin b12. its not gross at all. people use it as a garnish for sprinkling like parmesan cheese, but…

lemon zest, orange zest. all fresh herbs, added at the end of cooking or used fresh. dried dill nutritional yeast (high in protein too!) mustard aged balsamic vinegar white balsamic vinegar white miso (don't cook it, a little goes a long salty way) chili garlic paste tomato paste fennel seed ...to name just a few!

cashews are my downfall. i love them, we are soulmates. i hiked to the grand canyon, and my food of choice was cashews & raisins... i made little "pb&j's" by placing a raisin between the 2 cashew pieces, a perfect little sandwich of deliciousness. so, no cashews in the house for me. i lose all reserve. no self-control. i…

2000! i made the mistake of making homemade granola bars, that were just too delicious and irrestible. i ate al of them over the course of the day, even though i put them in the freezer to protect myself from them- evil things, lol. it wasn't even like they were that bad... oats, almonds, raisins, a tiny bit of pb, tiny…

we own and operate a small restaurant, our menu changes every day... there really are not enough minutes in the day to run our restaurant AND get nutritional info on the menu or anywhere- the thought of taking the time to do that- no matter how beneficial and helpful it would be to some of our customers- makes my head…

i think the idea of planning ahead for snacking emergencies is a great one. i mean, i do this with my toddler, so it makes sense to do it with my own nutrition too. i am trying to lose 13 lbs, and they just come of so slow. my husband is trying to lose 10x that amount, and he can eat like, almost triple what i am 'allowed'…

you can easily make a seaweed salad that will keep in the fridge for a week or so- kind of like the bright green stuff you may see at a sushi restaurant, but so much better for you when you make it yourself. the key is to have a pressure cooker. soak and rinse your seaweed of choice (we use wakame), pressure cook it with a…

yes, as a vegan i was always told (from other vegans and vegetarians!) that we dont really need that much protein, and protein is easy to get on a vegan diet, which it is, it is just hard when you are adding macros into it. i think i always thought 60 was totally fine... so i think i will tweek things by adding a protein…

ok, thanks so much for all the replies! i overdid it on the protein shakes a few years back, trying to get more protein while pregnant... if i never see a chalky pile of hemp protein powder again, that would be fine by me- however, it does give great protein, and i guess i could work it in for 1 meal replacement or a snack…

ok, that's where i have it set at. strength training for me is using my lame little dumbbells at home, trying to gain some defination in my arms. no opportunity to go to a gym. thanks again.

i guess i should go thru all of the basic vegan sources of protein and make a list of the ones where the protein/carb ratio is better, and focus on eating them. i am doing so good with not eating bread, pasta, etc... so going way over on carbs is a bummer, even if they are coming from veggies and fruits.

lol, vegan deviled egg in this month's vegnews magazine :) turned out not so good... taste was right, not consistency (from what i remember of eggs 25yrs ago!). holy salty! thanks again for the help.

ok, that was helpful, i guess, knowing that most people struggle with the carbs... i see a lot of posts where people pay great attention to their macros and seem to make it work... i eat during the day not very concious of the macro part, more on the calorie part. i realize 'eating meat' would probably make it easier to…
