The key to my success is My Fitness Pal. Today marks 800 straight days of tracking!

I started with a Fitbit One which I clipped onto my bra or pants pocket and loved it. It died after I forgot to remove it from my clothes and washed it for the THIRD time. So, although I don't think it's meant to be worn while swimming, it probably would be fine. (I think mine got knocked around too much during the last…

I just had carrot hummus and quinoa salad for lunch and it tasted great going down but tried to come right back and wasn't nearly so good then. :# I only had 6 oz. total but it felt like I'd had much more. Huh.

Yes, it does vary. I'm also about 6 weeks out and my nutritionist has me at 60 grams of protein and 1000-1200 calories per day.

Thank you all for your great insights. I'm 5 weeks out and my weight loss has already slowed down. I worry that this won't work for me and I'll be eating 700 calories a day for the rest of my life and never lose any weight. I know it's irrational, but that's how I feel. I had undiagnosed Graves disease for most of my adult…

It really does vary, doesn't it? I'm 4 weeks out, tomorrow and still have stabbing, burning pain when I reach wrong or bend to put on my socks. The PA said that they had to cut a muscle and that is what is healing so slowly. It is manageable, though. I haven't used any pain killers for a week. I just gasp and wait for the…

Thanks for responding ladies. Stef, I'm sorry to hear that you have the same problem. I'm a lucid dreamer, too, and one of the most disturbing aspects of my bad dreams is that I know that I don't like where they're going but can't stop them and worse, on several occasions couldn't wake myself up. You know that terrible…

It sounds like you are ready to make it work long term this time. Good luck!

It's been going pretty well. I'm going back to work tomorrow! I can't eat much yet. Struggling to get my 60/60-protein and liquids, but I'm sure it will get easier.

I use Wellesse liquid calcium citrate, too. I keep it in the fridge and put it in my protein drinks.

My sympathy goes out to you.

Hi Tammy! Welcome! I just had my surgery on 9/8, so I'm far from an expert. I can reassure you that it isn't too terrible. Cathie

I can't digest whey or soy so I use sprouted brown rice protein powder. I add it to a cup of unsweetened almond milk as a base and then adjust my add-ins to my mood. If I'm in the mood for chocolate, I add a tablespoon of baking cocoa and maybe a squirt of caramel coffee favoring. If I feel like fruit, I add a few slices…

Hi Everybody! I'm Cathie and just had my surgery on 9/8/14. Things are going well so far. Good luck to those of you about to have your surgery and to those who just had it!

Upside, I haven't had gas or nausea and everything is staying down just fine. Good luck fellow VSGers!

Hi! I just had my VSG on Monday, September 8, 2014. I thought that I'd be able to go back to work 10 days later, because it was "just laparoscopic surgery." Surprise! It hurt a lot more than I was prepared for. I've been taking Hydrocodone and it works pretty good, but since it's a narcotic, I can't drive. I'm going stir…

Yes, I weigh every day, sometimes a couple times a day. I'm on a serious diet and want to know if anything is happening.
