  • Hi Ladies! Glad to meet all of you. I'm pregnant with my first and thought I'd dip my toe in here. I'm 13 wks 5 days today and so far I've gained ~2 lbs, I think. I'm not very good at tracking it and I feel like my weight fluctuates a fair amount, but right in there. 5'9", started at 147 lbs, now up to 149.2 as of this…
  • Me! I adjusted all my settings manually and have been using MFP to make sure I'm eating enough calories and getting my nutrients from the right places. I'm 13 weeks, 4 days and have gained ~2 lbs so far.
  • I've been playing it for the last few weeks. It's a very different app from Zombies, Run! for sure. I walk around all day with my phone on me and have basically been using it like a pedometer, since i don't have a fit bit or anything. I do think they could improve the interactive aspect of it, and I'd really like to see an…
  • 7Hunters, I'm in the Pacific Northwest, so I hear you about the rainy season! I find that running in a light drizzle is often refreshing. Having a lightweight waterproof jacket helps a lot, as does a hat to keep the rain out of your eyes. Also, I'm planning on upping my strength training ratio over the winter since I'll be…
  • Bah! I have slacked in my Zombies Run running! I've been running with other people and I just use a tracking app when I do that, so no storyline. Tomorrow is a lifting day, but I'm hoping to make it out for a run either tomorrow or Friday evening.
  • Pacing is definitely huge. Also, I've found that the time of day, hydration level, and what I eat before I run make a huge difference. The regular zombies run episodes are just long free form runs, so you can continue improving once you make it to the main app as well! If you don't make it the whole way, that's ok, just do…
  • Hi Ladies! Great lifting session for me yesterday! I'm really starting to see a difference in both my form and how much I can lift. Back Squats: Warmup Set: 1x12 at 45 lbs - I used this set to really work on my form and get a deep squat in. I have long spindly legs, so deeper squats are tough on my knees at higher weights.…

  • I've been lifting 2-3 days a week and am seeing progress! I'm up to 95 lbs for 12 reps on my squats and 70 lbs for 12 reps on my deadlifts. I'm enjoying the free weights because I can get in and out pretty quickly and not have to spend a ton of time at the gym.
  • Glad to hear you're on the mend, DL! Are you still doing the NROLFW workout? I have been running at least twice a week, although not always with the app. I can't believe what a change I've gone through in the last six months. I used to hate exercising with a passion, and now it's something I look forward to.
  • I just ran this mission tonight! So sweet.
  • You guys. I did REAL PUSH UPS this morning! 2 sets of 15! I was pretty freaking excited. Today was technically my fifth lifting session of NROL4W, but I'm treating it as the second since the first week was so much about me figuring out the exercises. This is also the first session since I met with the trainer on on…

  • I did my session this morning with the trainer and it was really helpful! The main thing for me is keeping my weight in my heels and keeping my legs strong through the lift. I'm tall and lanky, so that's a challenge for me. I was really glad I did it, though. She gave me some other exercises and stretches that I think will…

  • DragonLady, that sounds like a good plan! I have a couple of friends that I run with because we keep similar pace, etc., but I would get super frustrated running with my husband. Usually when I run with friends, though, I don't use the app. Have any of you guys tried minimalist shoes/barefoot running?
  • Good morning ladies! I did my Stage 1 B1 workout last night as well. It went as follows: Deadlifts: 2x15 at 65 lbs. My gym membership came with a free hour of personal training and I am taking advantage of this tomorrow to work on my deadlift form. 65 felt light but I'm not confident enough in my form to go heavier for…

  • Hi Everyone! I am just getting started with NROL4W and I'm excited to have found this group! I did my second A work out on Friday, but I'm counting it as my first since the first workout was really about figuring out form and establishing some starting weights. I'm going to go do workout B this evening. I was going to go…

  • I have been bad about running the last week or so--I was on vacation the week before that and got a couple runs in, but nothing stellar. Since I got back I've started weight training and have had a hard time fitting in both. I'm hoping to get a run in this evening, though!
  • Awesome job! I'm thinking more and more that I need to sign up for some kind of race. It sounds like a blast!
  • I did my first NROLFW workout last night! I think I went a little light on some of the weights, since I was still trying to figure out what I was doing. I'm going again tomorrow and will do workout B (and figure out how to do those exercises), then count next week as my official start. For those of you doing it, the one…
  • 1. 20% faster than your base speed 2. Allocate them to the housing part of your base, of course! :P Welcome to Abel, Runner 5!
  • How's everyone doing on their strength training? I finally got my gym membership but I'm waiting to activate it until next week, since I'm going out of town on Thursday. I'm looking forward to doing a session with the personal trainer to establish some base goals. I think I'm also going to bring a copy of NROLFW with me on…
  • Awesome job! That's a huge accomplishment!!!
  • I think I just need to do a slower overall pace from the start. Then I won't feel so overwhelmed by trying to sprint. If I can, I may try to get out for a run this evening. Otherwise I'll be going tomorrow morning and will hopefully have less trouble.
  • I had such a miserable run yesterday with my first day back to the real app. It was over 80 degrees and fairly humid, which didn't help, but I also started off going my normal running pace, which was a mistake. Even though I sped up considerably for the first zombie chase (from ~6.2 mph to 7.8 mph), I still got caught,…
  • OK, so I FINALLY got around to the final run of the 5K program this morning (had wanted to do it on Monday but got stuck at work). It wasn't my best run ever, but I felt solid about it. 5K in 32 minutes plus another mile and a half or so afterward. I'm so excited to move onto the regular program now!
  • I'm here, not dead! My husband requested a coffee and bocce ball date on Sunday morning, so my run ended up not happening. I'm doing it this evening instead. I will report back tonight and let you know how it went!
  • Like bad hair bear, I also ran through all the freeforms (and often through the stretching section), so I feel well prepared for the final run, which I'm doing today!
  • OK, heading out for W8D2! I'm planning to do the final run on Sunday morning. Woohoo!
  • *Hugs* Steph. So sorry to hear about your kitty.
  • Steph, I've been talking to Claire and Vix about it--that's what got me interested! I can't believe how sore I STILL am. Especially my thighs and rear end. Holy guacamole!
  • Thanks! I've improved my time SO MUCH in the last 8 weeks doing the 5k program. At the beginning I was closer to 37! My next goal is 27 minutes.
