Glad you see you back Dragon.

See like I'm jinxed at the moment - now managed to break my toe so not be running. Got a Color Run on Sunday and if I have to hobble I will.

    You broke your toe? Boo!!!
Hobble on and feel better. :)

    Yikes! Broken toe sounds painful...!

Get better! And enjoy the Color Hobble on Sunday.

I'm here! Just hard to post! REALLY wish they made it easier to post to forums from the mobile app! I've been working on increasing my mileage since I know I'm in the right shoe. Which BTW makes a HUGE difference! I increased pace by almost 2 minutes just by changing shoes LOL. I'm doing a 13:21 pace but for long runs I average a 15 pace :)

So, F2f... we gave you a few days, but since you haven't said anything: How did the Sunday Color Run go?

    Hello All!

Might I say, I love the Zombies Run 5K app! Over the winter, I had made it to week 5 and was rocking it. Then a little slip turned into a two, four, six week slip. I have the motivation to get up tomorrow morning and hit Week 1 Day 1 again, but was looking for some accountability in the form of the forum.

Hope to find a great group of people here!

    Hi

    Sorry not be in touch.

The color run was great fun. Could only run some of it as it was too crowded but definitely do it again next year and take the kids.

The best bit was 2 brides in full dress who were following us and they got totally covered. The worst bit was losing my son through a color station and taking 10 mins to find him. He has high functioning autism so was not sure how he would coped if he lost me but I was the one panicking.

My toe/foot is still really sore so not being doing any running at the moment which is annoying as Spartan Race in 6 weeks.

    Hi All!

I'm not sure I have ever said anything in this group before but I love to lurk.

Yesterday I did week 7 day three. I can't believe I have almost completed my training. I have started 5k training before but never stuck with it but I am so much more engaged now.

I don't want to give anything away but I was a little nervous about this last run...I really AM runner 5! lol

Amerielle - That is actually rather motivating for me. I have done week 1 several times, and up thru week 4, but then got busy with work.

I tried to start again earlier this week, but we ended up working two 16 hour days in a row and it was rather challenging to find time to run. However, two days ago, I found 35 minutes of time in the afternoon to run. I didn't do the ZR5KT but ran a minute, walked a minute, then ended up running like 8 at full speed when the helicopter flew overhead and I was not back. I made it before they cooled down.

Today, I did W1D1 on an awesome forest trail all by myself. I was extremely happy. Looking forward the day after tomorrow to run again!

(I speak in time frames for I never actually know the day of the week. We work a 12 on 2 off schedule.)

Now if only I can work harder to make the calories in match calories out.

Bah! I have slacked in my Zombies Run running! I've been running with other people and I just use a tracking app when I do that, so no storyline. Tomorrow is a lifting day, but I'm hoping to make it out for a run either tomorrow or Friday evening.

I know that I've seen it mentioned on here, but how did you guys handle the huge transition from week 2 to week 3?
I plan on re-starting the 5k app in the next few weeks, but I am really not optimistic about the huge leap in running time between those two weeks in the app. Going from 30 seconds of running to 5 minutes seems a little severe. Severe enough that I'm worried it's going to put me off of the app. :(

I guess I take the term "free form run" seriously. :-) The Doc tells us to run when we can and walk if we have to so I just push myself...but not too much. Try running a minute and walking 30 seconds or whatever you can do during the five minute runs. It's all good!

    Thank you, Amerielle. :)
That's kind of what I was thinking. I may just repeat that week a few times to get better at it.

I have repeated weeks along the way too. I figure the goal is to increase our running distance and speed, not finish the app in exactly 8 weeks. No shame in listening to your body and not pushing yourself too far. :-)

Something I read on the forums once & has stuck w/me is to just try it. You won't know until you actually try it if you will need to repeat or not. I keep this in mind every week & so far I have surprised myself. I'm doing week 6 day 2 tomorrow. When the week 3 leap happened I did 2min run 1min walk & then remembered what I read on the forum & just tried it non-stop & I did it. You will surprise yourself & remember if you're out of breath, can't talk, feel like dying then slow it down. Speed will come later. You will be amazed @ how far you could run. This app is wonderful.

I just finished Week 2, Day 1 after taking a few days because I was too busy with work. The running part was fine. I could easily handle 30 seconds, however those heel lifts made me wince. Those are not cool.

They may or may not be cool.... They're Super Cool if you take into consideration that they'll save you from achilles issues, shin splints and PF! :)

Ha! Well, you're a better person than me.

plus there is the embarrassment factor of doing them when outside. There always seems to be more people around when I do them.

I always try to get people to do Zombies 5k lol. I'm on Season 2 of the regular app now and I'm like a runner junkie! I'm up to 4.5 mile runs this week. I did 4 mile runs last week so it shouldn't be too tough a transition I don't think. I'm doing the Biggest Loser half marathon training schedule and following it as close as I can. Sometimes I have to amend it for work. I'm planning to sign up for the Biggest Loser half marathon in October whoop whoop LOL
