  • I had a Polar heart rate monitor and it worked well for the first one, but the second one only lasted about 4 months before it was working erratically. I since have gotten a Body Media (like the Biggest Loser people wear) and I thoroughly love it!!! It gives me tons of info and keeps me honest on how much I am burning.…
  • Windsor, Colorado (near Fort Collins) about 7 inches. Pretty now, but in a day or two....
  • That's fantastic! A new life!
  • Congrats! What a great milestone!
  • I am sorry for the loss of your dad. Losing a parent is extremely sucky. I lost my mom six years ago, and it is still sucky. Don't let that get in your way, though. I am sure your dad would be proud of the month you had before that and the person you are on your way to being. Take the hour each day at the gym to "forget…
  • Great job! Keep it up!
  • You look awesome. Congrats!
  • HRMs are key to really learning how much you are burning, so good for you for getting one! I would eat back all of the calories. At least that's what I did when I lost my original 25 pounds.
  • Outdoor cycling values with MFP are greatly exaggerated. I am sure it's just based on assuming that you are cycling (moving your legs) most of the time. I also wear a HRM when I work out and it usually states that I burn between 4-5 calories per minute on an average ride..a few rolling hills, but nothing too hard. If there…
  • Go with your Fitbit for sure. MFP greatly exaggerates calories burned. I used think that I was burning tons of calories riding my bike at at pretty good pace, but even at that, it's only 5 or so calories a minute per my heartrate monitor. MFP says I burn like 10.....not!
  • I just finished my third half-marathon this Sunday in 2:19. My thought is to maybe do a full with running a mile and jogging a mile, etc. An idea..... The Rock and Roll is fun and gives out tons of stuff at the finish line. Good for you!
  • My hubby and I have done it on and off for almost a year. It's a great workout and burns a good amount of calories. Rest when you have to and soon you won't need to at all!
  • I have Insanity and TapOut dvds. Neither require a lot of items, and both are tough workouts.
  • I think there's a definite difference! I have done Insanity as well, and it's a tough workout!
  • I would definitely say to eat your exercise calories back. That means if you burn 200 calories exercising, you get an additional 200 calories to eat. Also, get a heart rate monitor if you can because that's the only way you'll know exactly how much you are burning. MFP and exercise machines at the gym greatly overestimate…
  • I do think it sounds high. I burn about 8-9 calories per mile running at 5.7-6.5 intervals for 25 minutes. I am 5'6" and weigh 165.
  • I was using MFP for over a year, and lost about 25 pounds. Then, when it came to maintenance, I bought an Polar FT7 and found out how much MFP and the gym was overestimated on calories burnt. I think that if you have a good amount of weight to use, it probably doesn't matter a whole lot. But for people who have about 5 or…
  • The younger you are, the less chance of having loose skin. At my highest I was 218 and today am 163. I do have somewhat of a small pooch below my belly button, but I can see my ab muscles and think I look pretty good.
  • You look fantastic! Way to succeed on this journey!!!
  • Mine worked really well for about 6 months with no problem. Then, it was doing the check transmitter thing and I replaced the battery. Worked well again for a while. About two months ago, it started to act up again, I replaced the battery, and now it still doesn't work. Pretty disappointed overall because of it. I used to…
  • I work out every day and have done that for many years, but my best suggestion is to start something that is manageable for you. Don't start out by doing 60 min a day. Start with 20 and do it every other day, then add time as you can. Do something for exercise that it is not a chore so that you don't hate it...and good…
  • I do a sprint/walk interval for 2.5 miles on Monday and Friday, jog 4 miles on Wednesdays and 4.5 + on Saturdays, do either the stairmaster gauntlet on Sundays for 35 minutes or an Insanity video, and do hard strength training on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 45 min with a trainer. I have not noticed a huge change in weight,…
  • Good for you!!!!
  • I have a Polar FT7. Most of the time I like it, but there are several times where it will read really high or not at all. It's kind of moody.

  • Go for it! If it wasn't going to snow here this weekend, I might do it, too!
  • I have been working out at 5 in the morning for probably 10 years now. I say that getting a good night's sleep is vital. I have to be asleep by 9:30 every night to know that getting up will be easier. Your body will get used to it again. Just think....no excuses.
  • At my heaviest I was 218 and then down to 185 is and then my latest is now down to 160. I got down to 154 but couldn't keep it there because I was training for a half marathon and didn't know how much to eat. Right now I wear a nice size 10 and a medium shirt. I am pretty muscular with large hands and feet. I would love to…
  • Welcome! Thank goodness for this website. It opened my eyes to the calories in food, and it keeps me real. Overall, I lost almost 30 pounds since two years ago, and I recently reset my stats, I want to lose about 5 more and call it good.
  • I absolutely lost most of mine. I started out as a 38 B and after losing 30 pounds I am now a 36A. Definitely not the place I want to lose it, but my padded bras do the trick.
  • This is one of the biggest questions, but when I was losing a lot I did eat all the calories. Now I am in maintenance, and I eat most.
