  • Google "no meat athlete". He has tons of vegan recipes and ideas. He is coming out with a full cookbook soon, but you can get a lot of information off of his website. http://www.nomeatathlete.com/
  • I am 57 years old, so I am menopausal. (sorry, I hope that's not TMI) My weight keeps sneaking up, even though I eat clean (completely plant based) and I exercise (boot camp) a minimum of three times a week. The only thing I can think of is that I have over 50% of my nutritional day goes to carbs.
  • Oh my gosh, I seriously just posted almost this exact same thing. All I have found are basically tofu and broccoli. I am going to watch your discussion and see how we do. I will share if anything interesting shows up on mine.
  • another good resource is http://www.nomeatathlete.com/ He has lots of good recipes and advice.

  • Me! Pick me! No, seriously. I just weighed myself this morning and I have gained 5 1/2 pounds. (which is so hard for me to lose) I know that it is because I have been depressed and my motivation went out the window. I am hiking the Grand Canyon the first weekend in December, so I need to drop about 10 pounds. Help!
  • I love juicing. I have watched both of Joe Cross' movies ("Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" 1 and 2), but I only did one 3-day "reboot" to cleanse and I did get to my goal weight. Now I have at least one juice a day, and I normally do a smoothie for breakfast. My one (or two) meals consist of vegetables, some good carb like…
  • Oh my gosh, I just searched for a recipe for the bean cottage pie and it sounds fabulous! I am going to try that. I live alone, do you know if it freezes okay?
  • Oh my gosh, Phase 1 was a very eye opener for me. I didn't realize how much I relied on sweets for that emotional "fix". Hopefully you have made it through and are happily on Phase 2 now. I love the South Beach lifestyle, and have not been disappointed in any of the recipes yet. I have the original book and the…
  • Great South Beach breakfast of turkey bacon, spinach with scrambled eggs and some red bean mash. Yummy, I am stuffed for the entire morning. Oh, and coffee, of course!
  • Tell me more about these green tea mints! They sound fabulous. Where do you buy them and do they come in different flavors?
  • I'm 50+ and it is a constant battle. Can't seem to get rid of the "pooch". Ish.
  • I love Joyce's workouts and the way that she motivates. The Definition Workout is my favorite, that I have seen the best results with.
  • Count me in! I am in Phase 2, and absolutely love South Beach. I haven't weighed myself yet, but I know I am losing and I feel great. I love the recipes, although I prefer the original book over the "SuperCharged" one. I don't eat beef, and a lot of the recipes in the newer book are for beef. The sugar withdrawal in Phase…
  • I agree with using the South Beach Phase 1. I did this and really went through withdrawal for several days, which opened my eyes to how addicted I was. I fell off the wagon on Valentine's Day with some incredible truffles and I was SICK the next day. I, for one, know that I cannot even have a taste, because it puts me…
  • I LOVE the Drew Manning fit2fat2fit plan. I found all of the supplements at Trader Joe's, and buy the protein bars at Costco. The recipes are great, I don't think there are any that I haven't liked. I don't follow the workout plan, because I am lucky to have a personal trainer provided by my workplace for free. The eating…
  • Hello Flame Dolls! I am 53 years old and am not fully menopausal yet, although I think I will fall into that category in another couple of months. I think I finally came to the conclusion that I am at my "healthy" weight and I am never going to get to the magic number that I think I should be. I work out, I eat well and…
  • Are you still doing Drew's challenge? I love his website and have been able to find almost everything that he recommends at either Trader Joe's or Costco. I love the recipes too. I think it's a great program.
  • WOW! I am going to try this. Thank you!
  • Welcome! This site is great, especially for tracking your food intake and exercise. If you have a mobile device, be sure to download the app for mobiles, it really helps you to stay on track. Make some friends, encourage others and check out the recipes! Have fun and remember you're doing this to have a happy and healthy…
  • Hello! You will love MFP and the people here. Lots of encouragement, the food lists are very complete (and you can add your own) and everything is easy to use. Make some friends and good luck!
  • Has anyone noticed that the recent update does not update your water intake correctly? I have to log in online in order to do it right.
  • "Diet for a Small Planet" is a fabulous book, but I can't remember the name of the author. Very involved, but I believe necessary for a "bigger picture" kind of situation. I was a vegetarian for years, after witnessing a gruesome scene at the neighbor's farm. (won't go into details) I had three beautiful, healthy babies…
  • YAY! I joined too. Maybe this will be the little extra motivation that I need. Thanks!
  • Hello! I'm new and need some motivation to stay on track and exercise. I need to lose 10 pounds to get to my goal weight, but I always seem to de-rail myself when I get to this point. I get lazy and tell myself that I'm "okay", but what I really want is to be toned and in shape by summer. Any good suggestions to stay…
