  • Someone mentioned a Cooking Light cookbook, which reminded me that their website has a TON of great recipes. The search engine is easy to use, and you can print the recipes in different formats (full page, 3x5 card, etc.) http://www.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder/main If you click Enhanced Recipe Search you can specify…
  • Wow, those look great! And it looks like they sell them at my local health food store, so I'll have to pick some up. Thanks for the post!
  • Another thing to consider is vitamin C. Your body can't absorb/use iron properly if it doesn't have the right amount of vitamin C also.
  • My favorite iron supplement is Floradix. http://www.florahealth.com/flora/home/usa/products/R64771.htm It doesn't cause the awful side effects that most iron supplements do. My daughter was able to give blood after a couple weeks of taking it. It isn't cheap though :(
  • Another Diana Gabaldon fan here! I've read the whole Outlander series at least three or four times. I also loved the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series (the author's name is escaping me at the moment).
  • Oh, I can come up with some good excuses! How about not having anything to wear?? I use that one a lot :)
  • Love it! Celestia, you're right about exercise! Exercise always clears my mind, which is probably why I'm able to eat healthier on the days I get outside and break a sweat! It all makes sense :)
  • Hello. My name is Kristie and I'm a purse-aholic. I'm not a snobby purse addict. I like cute, cheap purses from Target as well as beautiful max-out-the-credit-card Coach bags. I love KVZ!
  • I've been dry brushing for a couple years now, and I love it! It makes my skin unbelievably soft! My favorite moisturizer to use all over my body is extra virgin coconut oil. Not only does it smell wonderful, but it's completely natural, so I know there are no crazy chemicals being absorbed into my body.
  • I used to work with someone who would bring in huge bags of M&Ms and put them on my desk if she knew I was working out and watching calories. At first it p*ssed me off, but when another co-worker started laughing about it, I saw the humor (and pitied the jealous saboteur). So the next time she brought in a big bag of…
  • Wow, I can burn calories knitting! I'm pulling out my needles this weekend :)
  • Do you like herbal tea? I drink a couple cups a day and add that into my water count. I also drink one big glass with fresh lemon juice squeezed in it which is pretty tasty.
  • I just ordered it too! I was wondering the same thing about equipment.
  • If I want something that's way too many calories, I'll ask for a to-go box as soon as I get my food and immediately put half my meal in it. That way there's no chance of me eating a zillion calories in one sitting, and I get to enjoy a yummy lunch another day!
  • Oh man, I could live on guacamole! We just kinda throw in whatever we have on hand, so I can't give exact amounts, but here is the general idea... couple avacados small onion couple small tomatoes lemon juice (1/2 a lemon maybe?) cilantro pinch of salt pepper maybe a splash of hot sauce if we want it spicy Blend it all…
  • I'm having the same issue! I'm not sure there's anything wrong with it though. Has anyone ever heard that you can get too much fiber?? I did have some unpleasant digestive issues the first week though, so fiber should probably be increased gradually.
  • This website... http://golf.about.com/od/fitnesshealth/a/golfphysical.htm claims you burn 411 calories for 9 holes. 721 if you walk the course! So, you could be burning as much as 822 calories for 18 holes. Wow, I need to golf more! I haven't played in a year or two. I had no idea I could burn so many calories just by…
  • 7am - Tea (green or peppermint) 8 or 9:00 - Breakfast 11:30 - Lunch 2:30 - Snack 5:30 - Dinner 7:30 - Glass of wine 9:00 - Tea (usually a Sleepy Time tea) That 2:30 snack seems to be my key to not going home and eating junk before dinner. Sometimes I'm not really hungry, but then I get home from work and I'm STARVING so I…
  • I'll join in too! I started this once last year, but never finished. I'll be more motivated to finish if I'm doing it with other people!
  • Good for you! Maybe I'll get up the courage to post a pic like this, but since I'm a bit curvier than you, so I doubt it :) Maybe if I posted a pic of me in a bathing suit on our refrigerator, it would remind me to eat better!
  • Hummus! The whole family is addicted to it. We dip carrots or pita chips in it, and we make hummus and cucumber sandwiches (yum!) Stir-frys are popular in our house too. A bag of frozen veggies cooked up in a stir-fry sauce and tossed over some rice is so easy! Homemade chili can be a healthy option if you make it with…
  • Addict here! I stay logged on all day, and check it when I'm not busy. I definitely spend more time on here than I do on facebook :)
  • I make this ALL the time! Except mine is more of a Not Chicken Salad. Even my picky 13 yr old daughter loves it! I put it in pitas or bread or even just on top of some lettuce for a filling salad. Isn't vegenaise awesome?! Just like the real thing.
  • We have a 1 1/2 yr old Parson Jack named Zoe. If you look up the word "hyper" in the dictionary, her picture would be there! But we love her to death, and I can't imagine our family without her. She loves playing catch with any kind of ball, and she LOVES when people come over. After my husband and kids, she's the love of…
  • Oh, that's wonderfully inspiring! Makes the 30 lbs that I need to lose look like nothing :) I can do it!!!
  • I really like Dr. Andrew Weil. He has a great website (drweil.com) and several books. He's well-respected in the medical and alternative medicine communties. I like that he's not too radical or extreme in his advice. I think he does talk about practicing one nostril breathing though :)
