  • OMG, you are me 5 months ago! I started at 237, then stalled completely, so I upped my exercise to 5-6 days a week to fix it! Didn't work for me either, so I went on an exploration journey to learn about what my body needs, when, how much, etc. and adjusted accordingly. Having read here so many times about TDEE and BMR and…
  • I prefer eating veggies to eating meats, so I had to find a way to boost my protein, too. For my green smoothies (YUM) I use Unjury at 90 cals and 21 grams of protein, unflavored whey protein isolate: http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/. They also make a chicken soup flavored one that I have not tried. Not sure what I…
  • I count all vitamins, omega3, etc. Doesn't add much to calories, but I can be sure to meet my nutritional needs!
  • Pasta Bread, especially brick oven baked breads Potato Chips Had a doctor once offer me a candy bar treat and I turned her down. She wanted to know why... so I explained that if she had held out a bag of chips, I would have knocked her down to snatch those up! Made her feel better somehow...
  • Ha ha, thought I was the only one that treated my food like a budget and figured the costs for each thing I want. If I want to join friends for BBQ, I consider the cost of each thing available and make my choices based on that. Sort of like buying my food twice, but it is working for me. I don't really consider it counting…
  • They are rather difficult to find in many places, but I have come across Fiber Gourmet Pasta... real pasta with part of the flour replaced with non-digestible fiber! It has only 130 calories per 2 oz dry/app 1 cup cooked, saving 80+ cals depnding on which pasta you normally use and cooks and tastes just like most pastas. I…
  • Love hot, greasy fries dipped in chocolate shake!
  • Take a 1/4 pound package of saltine crackers, crush them into a bowl, add plenty of whole milk! Ahhh comfort food at its' finest! If you run out of crackers, just eat plain potato chips and wash them down with a glass of whole milk.
  • Also no real need to use Greek Yogurt in this, for those who do want to try it... Greek Yogurt loses a lot of its' potential benefits when heated above 120 degrees. It may still have a little boost of protein over regular yogurt, but the live cultures won't survive.
  • For potato chip cravings, try microwaved potato chips! Takes 4-6 minutes in microwave (thinly sliced with mandoline) and you have true low calorie, no fat chips! I leave the peelings on for nutrition, too!
  • I am definitely going to need to find this later!
  • By the way, I also find it harder to get in all the calories on most days, but I do not eat back exercise calories. I set MFP to maintenance so I can learn the food routines well enough that I can maintain it when I get there, thus it is the movement that is leading to the weight loss (hence the need for protein).
  • I plateaued about 21/2 months ago for 3 weeks and was sooooooooooo discouraged. I read and studied everything I could find, raised my calories, tried to rely on satisfaction from the loss of inches rather than pounds, etc. What I found was adding 100 calories helped a little, but getting 200 more per day ALONG with…
  • My exercise routine involves casual swimming, water aerobics and/or water jogging. As stated previously, the benefits are tremendous using water resistance added to an exercise. That, combined with the fact that I really, really hate to sweat, makes it the preferable exercise/movement for me. I usually swim with a friend…
  • Sounds fabulous! Thanks for sharing.
  • I keep my successful food creation recipes here: http://foodartcreation.wordpress.com/ They are posted with nutrition details obtained via My Fitness Pal.
  • http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/14406-food-bloggers-who-are-mfp-members A site for group members who maintain food blogs mostly related to MFP http://foodartcreation.wordpress.com/ My food blog, though I am relatively new to MFP, but all recipes recorded since joining have MFP stats included, along with specific…
  • Three of my four favorite food groups (add rice)!?!?! How could I possibly just give them up? That would be a far too restrictive diet for me and I am fairly certain it would not last. I have learned, however, to use portion control, scales and to seek out addition options for spending my daily calorie allotment, i.e. lots…
  • SW: 228# CW:198# (though I have not recorded yet for this week) GW: 150# (or more, if I can find the willpower) I am 5'3", 57 years old, started MFP at the beginning of March and have finally lost the 30 pounds I regained after losing 75 pounds from my top weight of 265. This is working ever so much better than anything I…
  • Yes, I was frustrated by not being able to share my recipes on MFP, too... but the blog allows me to do so AND I get to add pictures - which are worth more than words since many of us eat with our eyes first!. I have entered the ingredients list on MFP to get the correct counts, then just write out the instructions in the…
  • Forgot to mention, but most of my juice concoctions come out to an average of 50 calories per cup unless I add in the protein powder or tofu or even Fage 0% Greek yogurt, then it is more like 60 calories per cup! It is a great part of my breakfast. I put the leftovers in Mason jars in the fridge and have a cup or two every…
  • Rather than juicing, I use my VitaMix and make what I call a juice, but it includes all the fruits and vegetables, including all the good fiber. I count it by creating a recipe listing the amounts, weights, etc. of all the fruits and veggies I add in, then find out how many cups I have when I am done and call that a…
  • Wow, thanks for sharing... they look great!
  • How about a healthy cheesecake? http://foodartcreation.wordpress.com/2013/05/11/low-fat-low-calorie-but-delicious-cheesecake-why-yes/
  • It may simply be that those closest to you are not saying WOW, because that would be acknowledging that they also noticed how large you had become and they opt to not make mention of it out of love for you. Since they do not know you are trying and doing so on purpose, it would seem insensitive to make it known and display…
