  • Thanks guys. It's nice to know I'm not alone. I've been dealing with some health stuff, which has left me feeling tired and not like working out. Plus I've had 3 wedding showers in th last 6 weeks, so that's 3 parties with cake, wine, and everything else....sigh. I so badly want to undo the damage that I've done, but I…
  • Thanks everyone for the comments! I'm not looking to make a ton, but some relishes/pickles/sauces would be nice. I hate how much artificial garbage is in the pre-packaged stuff.
  • I take B12 shots every couple of weeks or so. My B12 was so low I could barely move; this is what got me back up and running. I've been taking them for about 8 years now, maybe a bit longer. If your B12 is really low, this can be beneficial. For people like me who hate pills and don't mind needles, it's a good option.
  • Mostly I try to just deal with genetics. I've gotten both good and bad from my folks, as most here probably have. On the good side, I have an hourglass figure (thanks Mom) but enough height and natural slimmishness (thanks Dad) to pull it off without worrying too much. On the bad side, I have rosacea (thanks Dad) and an…
  • No matter what you do, people will always have an opinion. The beauty is that you don't have to give it any notice at all, if you don't want to. Or, you can address it head-on and put them in their place; it depends on your relationship with them and what you're comfortable with. I've had people tell me I don't have to…
  • I eat salad almost every day for lunch, because I genuinely enjoy them. Yahhhh salad! Getting into a food rut is boring though, so maybe that's something to watch out for. I don't eat the exact same salad every day, and since I make my own salad dressing, I can switch up flavours. Adding a hardboiled egg, or some tuna, or…
  • Everyone's endo is different. Did your doctor say specifically why s/he doesn't think the old-fashioned way is an option for you? My fiance and I plan to try for kids about this time next year. We know it may not work right away (or at all) because of my endo, but my surgeon also said he didn't find any endo in places that…

  • Go-to quick foods are key, no question. Sometimes I make granola bars, which allows me to control the salt/fat content, and ensure they meet my medical food restrictions. I love hardboiled eggs, too. On Mondays I usually boil at least three of them, so I can add them salads as I go, or grab one between clients and get that…
  • I've heard great things about qigong, but I've never tried it. Actually both qigong and tai chi have been recommended to me for my chronic pain, but I haven't tried either one. I'd like to, though! On the to-do list!
  • Weekends can be really hard, especially if you don't have solid plans. Find ways to keep busy, pre-make food, and don't forget to let yourself live a little. One junky snack isn't going to undo ALL of your progress, unless you let it.
  • I love you guys. When I was in uni, the gym was somehow *always* full of "those guys." You know, the ones who couldn't possibly life unless they unleashed the most ungodly grunt in the world. Were they lifting, or having a poop?! So completely gross. I actually stopped going to the gym partly because of those guys - they…
  • There's already good advice here, so I won't repeat any of it. I will add though, that you should have your doctor check you out if you haven't already. There are medical conditions that can cause that kind of fatigue - yes it can be depression, but it can be other things too. Have your iron checked, your B-vitamins…
  • I've dealt with a lot of gut issues - I still do, though it's getting better. I've found that going for a good walk for about an hour helps get things moving along, compared to other types of activity. Also, maybe try adding some hemp hearts to your diet. They are a great form of protein, and I've found they've made a big…
  • Great! I hope it turns out! I can't have barley (gluten) but I'm sure others on here will be interested to try it that way. I told a girlfriend that she could probably make it with rice, too (she doesn't like quinoa). Lots of possibilities!
  • Enjoy everyone! If you come up with any tasty variations, post them!
  • I get this from people sometimes, and I hate it. "You don't eat anything! You should eat more!" It's not that I don't eat anything - it's that I eat a healthy portion, while they're practically eating out of a trough. That probably sounded judgmental, but it makes me angry. Don't project your self-consciousness on me.…
  • I've made HUGE diet changes over the last while, and I absolutely can feel a difference. I've been gluten-free for 3 years, because my Endo has made me completely intolerant to it. These days, I am: - gluten-free - dairy-free - soy-free - caffeine-free - red meat-free - refined sugar-reduced - alcohol-reduced - increased…
  • I just PM'd you. :)
  • I workout better in the morning. Once the day gets started, my work schedule can be a bit random (I work from home) and there always seems to be something going on in the evenings. Besides, I find if I work out in the morning, it keeps me motivated to eat properly and stay active the rest of the day.
  • It's nice to know there are more of us on here! I know the endo makes it hard, but it feels good to take control as much as possible. I'm hoping by changing my diet and being able to exercise more, some of that poofy under-navel bloating will reduce. Fingers crossed!
  • I weigh myself everyday, because I like to have an idea how I'm doing. I know that daily fluctuations are normal, so it doesn't stress me out. I "officially" weigh in on Fridays.
  • Sores inside the mouth point to probably either an allergic reaction or some type of infection - canker sore, for example, or something similar. If that's unusual for you, go see your doctor. As for your skin - if you're making changes to the way you're eating, your body is going to react to that, and not always in a…
  • It's great to connect with all of you! I've had it for 15 years (30 y/o now) and am just figuring out the food-endo connection. I'm following the endo diet as strictly as possible, and it's been AMAZING. It's the reason I'm able to work out now, actually. I'm hoping it's going to be a permanent solution.
  • You'd think so, wouldn't you? I developed a severe gluten intolerance three years ago due to my medical condition, and I have heard more garbage from people than I would have ever thought possible. Everything from, "It's in your head," to "You're just following a fad," and more hateful things too. It's sad. I guess after…
  • Thanks for the input. I would agree, though with some family members just dealing with the gluten-free was hard enough (and I got sick more than once). Now that I also can't have dairy, soy, caffeine, or red meat, it will be even more complicated. At least for the next while, I'm just not willing to be their kitchen guinea…
  • Congratulations! I think weight is one of those automatic bride things - either losing it, gaining it, or redistributing it. After all, it is the most photographed day of your life, and white isn't exactly slimming!! :embarassed: For me, (October 2013 bride) I'm worried mostly about my arms and my face. My dress isn't…
  • Thanks! I feel amazing today. :) In fact, I felt SO amazing after that scale victory, that I jumped on the bike and burned 433 calories! Whoohoo!!!!!!!
  • I have a lot of food intolerances/medical restrictions, so eating cleanly just kind of happens anyway. I don't do it 100%, but I do it as closely to 100% as I can. I admit, since eating this way, a lot of packaged/process foods just don't even appeal to me. It doesn't feel restrictive anymore because they're not things I…
  • Preaching - about anything, from religion to food - isn't good social behaviour. Nickpicking at a bbq? Nobody likes that guy. I know someone who likes to comment on what other people eat - I don't eat with her, because it's annoying. "Do you know what's in that?" "That looks like a lot of calories." The thing is, your…
  • A minute plank is awesome! I'm so jealous! This morning I worked up to 20 seconds, then collapsed on the floor, nose-to-nose with the cat, and felt both victorious and out of shape - after all, yesterday I managed only 15 seconds, so that's something...lol
