  • I use a Polar H7 bluetooth heart rate monitor and have it paired with my iPhone. http://www.polar.com/us-en/products/accessories/H7_heart_rate_sensor On my iPhone I use an app called DigiFit (free app, but to 'unlock' the pairing ability for a heart rate monitor is a few bucks).…
  • For me, it boils down to the material that my workout clothes are made of. Most of my workout clothes are made of synthetic fibers that are designed to wick away moisture. The problem with these types of fabric is they have a tendency to hold on to oils & residue that natural fibers would not cling on to. So even after I…
  • The iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 both have the 'new' bluetooth 4.0. This version of the bluetooth protocol is a much faster transmission/lower power consumption than the previous versions. From what I've found, many manufacturers of fitness related products/apps are building for this 4.0 version of bluetooth, and seem to be…
  • I agree with those who suggested getting a heart rate monitor. I LOVE my monitor. It pairs with my iPhone then uploads all of the data automatically to MFP. The app I use (Digifit) has you program the pertinent variables (sex, age, height, weight, fitness/sedentary level) then uses those numbers to help calculate calories…
  • I use MFP along with Digifit. For me, they are the perfect match. Digifit tracks all of my workouts via a bluetooth 4.0 heart strap from Polar. Results are automatically synched to my MFP account… then it's just a matter of logging what I eat! Super easy, super convenient!!
  • I'm up in Ogden.
  • My alarm goes off at 4:00 am, M-F.. 5:30 on Saturdays. The key to me getting up consistently has been the fact that I pick up my brother and drop him off at the train station on my way to the gym. Knowing that somebody is 'counting on me' makes it that much easier to roll out of bed. It has since become a habit and I love…
  • Just my two cents on TRX and calorie burn... I wear a bluetooth 4.0 strap tethered to my iPhone. In an hour class I average 450 calories. (I'm 5'11, 163lbs) This TRX class mixes cardio into the mix... typically jump rope for 30 seconds... running a lap around a track, etc., after every third TRX exercise. The instructor…
  • TRX classes are AWESOME! I've been doing TRX for about 5 months, three times a week. I was relatively fit before, but I feel MUCH more stability/strength.. especially in my core. TRX can be SUPER difficult. Don't be discouraged that some moves/exercises are hard to do or complete. TRX should be more about doing the correct…
