I mean that pregnancy kills more women than birth control. By FAR. In this country, maternal mortality is very low and rare, thanks to modern medicine and availability of doctors. In countries without our medical resources, maternal and fetal mortality (death) can approach 50%. Pregnancy puts extreme stress on a woman's…

Yeah, I like being a blonde too (AND I have big boobs, lol). People never, EVER suspect what I do for a living. Every single day someone new, outside of work, learns I am a doctor, I get big, wide eyed stares. It's great!! ;) Especially in sports bars...where my hubby takes me just so he can watch me whip *kitten* at…

I am an Ob/Gyn, so I'm going to put in my two cents simply because I want to help... 1) Go see an Ob/Gyn. Not a walk in clinic, not a family doc, not a naturopath, etc. If you're having "girl issues", go to the "girl doctor". We have more training that anyone else in this arena, period (pardon the pun). 2) Do NOT use Dr.…

Seconded, and I agree that DVT is at the bottom of my list as well, due to the duration of the symptoms. That being said, the OP should go see her doc if the pain is that significant. There could be any number of things going on...

And many women do NOT need extra soy. The phytoestrogens it contains can cause breast pain, increased menstrual bleeding, etc...although in peri-menopausal women it may actually help relieve symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, etc. There is no reason for women to NOT eat whey. We eat whey all the time in other…

I must admit I buy at LEAST 12 boxes every year. We freeze them and bring them out a little at a time. I could care less about ANY other cookie...and I have a sign (no, really) on my front door that reads "No solicitation, No religious queries...but Girl Scouts with Thin Mints Welcome"

Heh, me too...and I came in for a look because that's precisely the NSV I'm looking for, lol! OP, grats! Many of us understand the calf vs boot problem! :smokin:

Excellent answer...for the situation at hand.

As a casual observer of this thread, I must say there are quite a few judgmental, "non-judgmental" PC-police in here. We can't ALL be attracted to the same things. If the OP doesn't like tats...so be it. Maybe he just hasn't met THAT girl yet, who just happens to have a tattoo, who will rock his world and completely change…

<---Ob/Gyn....I see ALLLL the vaginas and boobies!!!! I win! Brah!!!!! (How effing pathetic. To each, their own but, man, I hope you use protection....you don't need to be procreating, with that attitude.)

^^^this (and all the loaded vs unloaded weapon talk is cracking me the hell up! rofl! Had no idea this was an issue. May have to inquire of the hubby in a bit...hahah!)

QFT! Nice job!!!!

Karl, Welcome back! I hate to hear about such a rough year, so I hope MFP will help you get back on track. Try not to beat yourself up too much. Stress is a KILLER of weight loss! I am living proof... I have to agree though, you should probably get a routine check-up from your doc and make sure you're not having any…

Hmmm, this seems more my style....In for creepy FR from mutuals ;) (must keep some semblance of snobbery, of course)

I used to feel the same way....and, again, hubby completely changed my opinion. He's only 38 and his chest hair is going prematurely grey / white, and I STILL love it. Now I look at chest hair as "manly man" in my head. It's silly, because there are certainly plenty of non-hairy manly men (that are really, really hot!),…

Heh, awesome question! As a 20-something woman, back hair was DEFINITELY a turn-off. Ewwww gross, NASTY.....And then I met my hairy beast of a hubby at 26. Now I shave it for him when he thinks his back may be seen in public (summer, boats, etc) and I have no problem with his hairy-ness laying next to me snoring in bed. I…

I dunno, I just find complaining about accidents that are pretty much "acts of God" a bit silly. Have you or the OP ever slipped on perfectly dry grass? In sand? On a hill? On a rock? Has your car ever hydroplaned on wet road? It was an accident. It sucks her daughter was hurt, and thank goodness not badly. But when her…

Because running back outside and taking "lots of pictures" is the normal behavior of people NOT prone to suing....

Well, if you want a slightly less snarky answer, here's mine: 1) You know that the HOA is poorly run, or at least the people they hire are poor at their job (because I doubt the guy collecting the check, is salting the walks). Since you know this, you could try getting involved. It's usually a voluntary position held by…

This^^^ OP: Make sure you include the Sun in your suit. It is surely negligent in its failure to shine brightly enough in wintertime to melt all the ice 24/7...especially in northern states where it seems to be a repetitive issue! I'm sure there have been complaints for CENTURIES! It should be an open and shut case!…

I'd press the issue too...it's not going to cost them much more daily. I would never agree to a 4 month assignment with essentially no way to "eat at home". It's a big deal...just ask. They probably don't even realize the room doesn't have the bare necessities. If they say no, THEN go out and buy the mini-fridge and…

Amazing! And thank you for proving that, if you're accountable to yourself and your health issues, you CAN overcome! Congratulations, and thank you for inspiring so many of us!

All of the above is correct. Your thyroid being off will wreak havoc on your weightless, and can cause significant weight gain, if you are HYPOthyroid (low thyroid function). Menopause, whether surgical or natural, slows your metabolism as well, and is a normal (however much we dislike it) part of aging. If you have both,…

TL:DR past first few posts. OP is 24 and perhaps needs a basic course in world economics.... Nice Utopia, though.

And just know you will gain an easy 5-10 lbs in the days / week immediately after surgery due to 1) the liters of IV fluids they'll give you during surgery and 2) water retention / swelling during the reparative process (which can last for several weeks, if not longer). Just be careful of your diet, and you'll be fine. :)
