Lucky you! In Japan, they might start mailing the vouchers need to get registered to get a shot in June for ages 60-64... so slow. J&J is not yet approved here. Snail's pace! Some expats are flying home to get their shots.

Hi and welcome to the wondrous world of net carbs! You can install on a PC a free script that will do the subtracting of fiber grams from total carb grams on MFP. Read about it in the Launchpad here: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10348436/enhancing-mfp-displays-for-low-carb#latest Or do the math in your…

One point to remember is that the foods with cholesterol in them (eggs, etc.) actually do not lead directly to higher cholesterol in the body. Here is an explanation on youtube that might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giD_S2mr7Iw&ab_channel=ThomasDeLauerThomasDeLauerVerified and…

I started listening to "Tiny Habits" online, a book about starting new habits in small steps. Hoping it may help!

More water, and try chia seeds in water. I started last week using apple cider vinegar -- 2 tbsp in a quart of water, plus a tbsp of chia seeds. I sip that through the day till it is gone, and hey presto, my morning constipation has gone away! I think it is the extra water and chia together that does the trick.

I hear ya. I logged daily for like 1800 days straight, then decided enough logging, I got this. Quit logging for about 6 months, but then started the carb creep.... so now trying to get back in the losing game.

Well, I have gained some back over the past year of lockdown and working from home, so take it with a grain of salt! I just keep on ketoing on, as they say. And I tried to keep active. Whenever you fall down, get back up on the horse. Don't let a gain of a few lbs turn into a lot. I find that depression and the old f--it…

I found lots of entries that say "IF meal" or "Intermittent fasting" in the database, so you can just pop one of those into your skipped meal(s). That way the app doesn't think you have missed a day of logging.

Hi, I too had this problem. Have you read about this? https://furthermore.equinox.com/articles/2020/02/high-fiber-keto Add lots of water daily to get things moving, and plus add salt and electrolytes as you will lose some as a result of more frequent urination. I noticed that higher intake of fat (coconut oil in coffee for…

I was just watching this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aRLsCpxy3o&list=PLmkVOa1Wra8XvfMDz6pzGbMRo1huyTxBt&index=8&ab_channel=JasonFung and he explains exactly what happened to you -- artificial sweeteners will make you feel hungry. Salt water is a good alternative during a fast. Or a broth cube in hot water might work.…

Here is another with a 30-day free trial: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/diet-plan Just repeat that plan if you don't like paying ;) Also, as a basic plan you can't go wrong with Dr. Westman's 4-page plan (set MFP to 1200 cals and work it out on your own):…

Way to go! congratulations!

I tend to overeat anything that is salty and crunchy (i.e., emotional eating), be it chips or pork rinds. But the pork rinds fill me up and I stop eating them sooner, and they are zero carb. So an occasional treat for me. (I do like making keto crunch cinnamon cereal out of pork rinds -- crush some into a bowl, add plain…

There used to be an extension on Github. But I just realized it no longer works in Chrome. Back to doing the math! edit: I just reinstalled the script from github and it works again. I have also updated Chrome. try it yourself. http://cavemanketo.com/configuring-mfp/ Here is the overview in our Low Carber's Launchpad --…

@MissyCHF I too have been given that CKD notice that my eGFR is lower than normal, around stage 2-3. But all my other markers (hba1c, blood sugars, chol, trigs, etc.) are in good shape, so when I asked for a referral to have the CKD check, the doc said I did not need one. Now wondering about what to watch for. Any tips? I…

You may like the info in this podcast with Dr. Eric Westman and Amy Berger, two of my go-to sources who have a new book coming out soon. They point out that keto vs low carb really depends on the individual, it depends on your own health, lifestyle, etc. Do what works for you, and you will get results.…

I am 63, and having gained a few covid kilos, am trying to lose them now. It ain't happening. I eat around 1200 cals, lchf, and my maintenance is supposed to be around 1800--or it was prior to working from home. 1200 is the calorie level that I ate at 6 years ago when I lost weight, but I seemed to have become adjusted to…

Net carbs is just total carbs - fiber in the mfp totals. So for example, total 20 carb grams, minus 6 fiber grams, equals 14 net carb grams. If you view MFP on a computer browser, you can install an extension that does the math for you. It's described in the Low Carber's info here:…

I just listened to the Peak Human podcast with Mary Ruddick, who is living in Greece in one of the blue zones. She says they eat a lot more animal foods than the Blue Zones gurus say. pt1: https://www.peak-human.com/post/mary-ruddick-cnc-sherlock-holmes-of-health-on-reversing-disease-debunking-blue-zones-more pt2 (starts…

@airbeat Way to go! I agree kcko is the best advice, just jump back in. Are you also in the Low Carber group here? It gets a few posts daily. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/discussions/394-low-carber-daily-forum

Exactly! I used to get close to 10,000 steps daily just by going to work... now some days I don't make it to 500! I have to force myself to take walks (it has been too hot). One thing that helps though is online yoga classes--my friends and I signed up for Zoom classes, and we keep each other motivated. It is good to see…

Yeah, me too. I don't pay for mfp, so can't see the feature. Still using the old github one on one laptop.

Thought I should report back on my IF journey... So the Fung style of F/F/dinner everyday works, but only if I do clean fasting. That means no milk or cream in my coffee, and no sweeteners in the water, no BCAAs, etc. Just water, tea, coffee and salt in the fasting window. I went on a hiking holiday 2 weeks ago and ate…

@sljohnson1207 I was in the same situation. I started "clean fasting" morning and afternoon = OMAD. Not adding any cream or milk in my coffee was hard, but it is working, lost a few kilos I gained since the spring! water and black coffee/tea only in the intermittent fasting window seems to be key. Need to keep at it though…

Lots of butter with those eggs... yum. How did it go?

Last week I started the 24 hr fasting protocol that is in Dr Fung's 1st book Complete Guide to Fasting (with J Moore) -- no breakfast every day, lunch every other day, dinner every day. Eat keto or LCHF. Try to get in enough cals in that one or two meals, but not too much. I am aiming for 1000-1200 cals per day. My…
