@MissMaggie, I am sorry for your loss. I just lost my husband of 31 years in July -- he had esophageal cancer that was stage 4 when diagnosed in February this year, and it spread very quickly. The point about keeping up calories was important, and in my hubby's case, it was very difficult as he could not take solid food.…

Thanks for bumping it. :D

I vary between around 40 total to 150ish per day (mostly veg, some rice) in some weeks, but notice that I feel better at the lower end. Ankles swell from retained water, joints ache, etc. if I overdo--so I end up intermittent fasting the next day till that goes away. My weight is stable now but I gain about a kilo in water…

Hi, I don't know if this group is what you are looking for, but it is an old Atkins forum that has been active for years: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/index.php?s=09136cff656b6fd418ed1054442dfd3c Lots of good recipes, though some ingredients are kinda old-school.

Hi Larry, congratulations on your progress. Just one thing to consider -- beware of adding too much fat. Basically, stick to 20gr or lower carbs per day (mostly veg carbs so avocado is fine, lots of fiber in that), moderate protein to your body's requirements and fat to satiety. No need to drink olive oil if you are…

I like the fry pan method. Another recommended way to cook them from Brenda Zorn on 2KetoDudes forum: "Rinse in cold water, then microwave till hot on your serving plate" then add sauce. Enjoy! BTW, I mentioned the price of these noodles to my Japanese sis-in-law yesterday--one 180 gram bag costs about $1 in Japan, so…

Back in 2013, I realized some months after going lchf that whenever anyone in the office opens up snack foods bought at the convenience store that are wrapped in crinkly plastic, I start to salivate.... Just the unwrapping sound makes me start craving junk food. I still have that response but have learned to ignore it. I…

I like to make up a bunch of these and freeze the leftovers to grab through the week: http://www.lowcarb360.com/pork-rind-pancakes-induction-friendly.html

Have you cut out gluten? I find that helped immensely in stopping the aches.

Saw this on twitter last night too. Ilsi gets around! https://therussells.crossfit.com/2017/02/06/expert-witness-against-noakes-to-undergo-investigation-for-ilsi-ties/ and Marika Sboros's report: http://foodmed.net/2017/01/13/noakes-ilsi-queenpins-trying-nail-him/

The new Atkins owners have gone low-fat and higher sugar in the products they offer (Jimmy Moore ranted on that last year)--so avoid eating the Atkins brand "foodlike" bars and other products. ;) The original Atkins is better. Eat real food.

That is the one the Ketovangelist podcaster Brian Williamson and Jimmy Moore are putting together. It should be good quality speakers. I can only hope to watch the later videos from here in Japan ;) but I would love to attend. Someday maybe. https://www.ketocon.org/ There is also the 2 Keto Dudes Ketofest being planned for…

Take a look at Dave Feldman's presentation on cholesterol and his high and low cal eating experiments to see why cholesterol is not the best indicator of your health... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZu52duIqno Here is his website: http://cholesterolcode.com/?s=cu

This is true. I have been logging on MFP daily for 4 years or so, but I don't panic if I don't manage every detail. It takes about 5 min a day. It is just a routine habit now. And it keeps me from straying into carbland ...

Or you can make sole water. I did that with the chunk of himalayan salt that I had in January, and still have half of it left. https://wellnessmama.com/12158/make-sole/

This is the same advice as in the Carbohydrate Addict's Diet -- http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com/ It works for people who aren't too insulin resistant, I think. I found it kept sugar cravings too high for me. I feel better at less than 50-80 total carbs a day. Also, eating your carbs at night helps some people to sleep…

Bring along some nuts to tide you over, and eat only the low carb parts--leave the rest. Enjoy the ride!

thanks for the tip. I see they have a session with Dr. Joseph Kraft, who died a few weeks ago. Must be the last video talk he did. Will be worth it just to hear him!

This is a good overview and comes in handy even for long-time lchf peeps like me. I just got results back on my Dec. checkup -- turns out I have a mild 1 degree ventricular block (from the ECG). Need to be more vigilant about electrolytes!

It has been a while since I was nursing my son... but I have read that moderate lchf (at least 50 gr carbs per day) is fine. Read more here: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/when-breastfeeding I like magnesium chelate.

Yes it is the mobile app that does this. The desktop is manageable with ad-block on. :)
