  • Eggs - egg whites if you need more protein without all the calories - toss in some roast chicken w/ veg and you have an omelet. I tend to alternate my breakfast between oatmeal with flax and chia one morning, then two eggs with a slice of toast and fruit the next.
  • While I am not vegan, I do try to adopt a few vegan recipes throughout the week to mix things up. Pinerest has a great selection of recipes.
  • I definitely get outside with the kids as much as possible, we live on a farm so its usually just building snowmen, having snowball fights and pulling them around in their sled (they are 2 & 5 so I don't keep them out if its below -25) But spring/summer/fall we are outside all day, every day and plan to be out even more…
  • Yes I try to put his snacks on the highest pantry shelf, way in the back where I need a step ladder to get at them - or I ask him to keep them downstairs in his office or at work or out in the shop.
  • We have talked about it, and he always says all the right things. He admits that he is being selfish, he agrees that if he made a few simple changes it would make my life a thousand times easier, he knows that I appreciate it when he cleans up after himself, he says he'll try working out with me more - or at least watch…
  • Thank you :) I appreciate that - I'm sure he will come around in time. He just has old habits that are tough to change. I hope your girlfriend tries to support you more because it sounds like you are doing a great job.
  • Yeah that was a problem early on in our marriage. We had just moved to a new city, he had a brand new, high stress job and things were difficult for a while. But that was over 5 years ago and hasn't been an issue anymore.
  • Apparently you have to work on your reading comprehension, because I've already stated that I don't mind him having them in the house if he is willing to keep them somewhere out of the way. He is allowed to have most of his favorite unhealthy foods whenever he wants, I am in no way way "forcing" my diet on him, but there…
  • We have discussed the distribution of cleaning duties, and I have agreed to relax my standards of clean if he agrees to pitch in more often. But his idea of cleaning up his dishes is filling them with water and leaving them overnight. All I expect of him is that, if he is going to dirty extra dishes, he either wash them…
  • That's definitely a tough one for me, since I love baking (and eating my glorious creations is half the joy) but I have several birthdays coming up in the next couple months so I will do my best!
  • I usually do put my leftovers in several single portion containers right away (because I'm OCD and have to clean up immediately or I go crazy) but that doesn't necessarily stop him. Or if I clean up and pack everything away he will make a pot of kraft dinner so I have to clean up again.
  • Well after my first child was born I managed to get down to my goal weight and he didn't have a problem with me going out with friends. So, no I don't think my weight has anything to do with it - we've simply moved past that rocky phase in our relationship. His lack of support for my weight-loss efforts is quite minor by…
  • Evenings are tough for me too, mostly because I make dinner for 5 because my husband works nights but then I don't go to bed until midnight so that is about 7 hours without a meal. I try to eat my dinner later and have a light snack around 8 but it can be challenging to resist raiding the kitchen. I try to distract myself…
  • The body is not a calculator, it is more like a chemistry lab. Saying "calories in/calories out" is overly simplistic and is not realistic for everyone. Certain foods - such as alcohol - may cause an adverse reaction in some people. Different things work for different people.
  • I started on the 20th and want to lose a total of 50lbs but I am aiming for 25lbs down by July 1st. Add me if you want a motivation buddy
  • Some people simply have narrower hips and their thighs will always touch. Others have naturally muscular legs that will not slim down unless you starve yourself. If you are one of these then you will just have to learn to love it (or at least live with it). I have Polish genetics which blessed me with huge, powerful thighs…
  • Well I know its impossible to know for sure but based on his actions I am reasonably certain that he has faith in our strength as a couple. In the past, anytime I went anywhere without him he would bombard me with calls and texts and interrogate me when I got home. Now its just "Have fun" and "How was it?" No arguing, no…
  • He does love how I look now, and so do I, but he also loved it when I was a size 2 so I don't think he is overly attached to my extra 40lbs. He has had insecuries and jealousy issues in the past but we have talked them over extensively and its no longer an issue. I have threatened to toss his junk food out if he keeps…
  • I have tried to get him to keep his snack foods somewhere out of the way (preferably at his office kitchen) so that its not staring at me right when my willpower is at its lowest but he doesn't like that because he needs it when we watch our favorite show together. I love cooking, and always make healthy meals for the…
  • I'm not australian but I'm a huge fan (actually watching an australian wildlife show as I type) and I'm really hoping that I can visit there someday soon. Preferably after I've lost the weight :)
  • I have a similar approach to fitness, since my kids make it tough to do an actual proper-length training session (I swear they act mortally offended that I would dare try to lose the weight that they worked so hard to make me gain lol). So, to compensate, I do little bursts of exercise throughout the day: 60 squats when I…
  • I used to have 10 minute trainer, which I liked because it was quick but intense and it was easy to extend the workout if I had time for more. Unfortunately a former friend stole it so I need to buy a new one or find a different program.
  • I tend to be up fairly late every night (midnight or later) so eating supper at 5 will leave me hungry again by 8 and I know I'll end up caving. So I try to eat supper at 7 instead, then I have a fiber bar and a cup of tea at 9 or 10 for that evening craving.
  • Maybe you could try ice baths, they are good for swelling and muscle pain and might also boost your metabolism, albeit temporarily. Rather than being cold all the time (which I do not recommend)
  • I rarely drink (once or twice a year tops) but before I had kids I used to go out with my friends for drinks and dancing on weekends and I actually lost quite a lot of weight over a fairly short period of time. Approximately 15lbs in 2 months, and I was not actively trying to lose weight.
  • My house is always cold and it doesn't seem to be aiding in my weight loss efforts lol. Its probably more of a hindrance because I always crave hot chocolate, warm blankets, good books and comfort food.
  • I drink lots of water (8-12 glasses, plus coffee, tea, milk, soups and water-rich produce) and it definitely makes me feel better but not fuller or less hungry in any way.
  • When you set your MFP goals it asks how much you weigh and how much you want to lose then recommends a daily calorie goal to acheive that. So if you eat what is recommended and readjust your goals after every 5-10lbs lost you should, theoretically, lose weight at a healthy pace.
  • I'm aiming to lose 25 by July, which is about 5lbs a month. Add me if you want
  • Sounds like body dysmorphia. Ask yourself this: when you a woman with the same basic height and build as you, do you think they look fat and gross, or do you think they look healthy and beautiful?
